Control Systems Fall 2022

COMSATS University Islamabad

EEE 325 (Control Systems) - Assignment 03

Instructor: Dr. M. Rizwan Azam Total Marks = 50

Due Date: 21st December 2022

Question 01: [10 marks] (CLO2 [C4])

Using the Routh-Hurwitz criterion for the system given below, tell how many closed-loop poles
are located in the right half-plane, in the left half plane, and on the 𝑗𝑗𝑗𝑗-axis.

1
𝐺𝐺(𝑠𝑠) =
𝑠𝑠(𝑠𝑠 6 − 2𝑠𝑠 5 − 𝑠𝑠 4 + 2𝑠𝑠 3 + 4𝑠𝑠 2 − 8𝑠𝑠 − 4)

Question 02: [10 marks] (CLO2 [C4])

Using block diagram reduction technique, find closed loop transfer function C(s) / R(s).

Question 03: [10 Marks] (CLO2 [C4])

For the unity feedback system of Figure 1, with

𝐾𝐾(𝑠𝑠 2 + 1)
𝐺𝐺(𝑠𝑠) =
(𝑠𝑠 + 1)(𝑠𝑠 + 2)

1. Static error constants Kp, Kv, and Ka.
2. Use your answers above to find the steady-state errors for the standard step, ramp, and
parabolic inputs.
3. Make table of your results.
