10. Green plants make their food themselves on their leaf’s surfaces. There are some
green colour pigments present called chlorophyll. The synthesis of food in plants
occurs in their leaves hence leaves are called food factory of plants.
Photosynthesis helps to maintain balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide in
the atmosphere. Chlorophyll absorbs sunlight and gives energy. At the end of
photosynthesis process, carbohydrate and oxygen are formed. Carbohydrate is
used as food and oxygen is emitted out to the atmosphere. (1x4=4)
