With the echoes of the past year fading into memory, we stand at the threshold
of a fresh chapter, brimming with possibilities and brimming with the promise of
new beginnings. I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt wishes to each
and every one of you.
This new year brings with it a renewed sense of purpose and ambition. We, as a
university, are committed to providing you with an environment that fosters
intellectual growth, personal development, and a spirit of innovation. We will
continue to invest in cutting-edge technology, expand our academic offerings,
and foster a vibrant campus culture that celebrates diversity, inclusivity, and
collaboration.
I would like you to extend the journey of learning beyond the confines of
classrooms and laboratories. It's about stepping outside your comfort zones,
embracing challenges as opportunities for growth, and actively engaging with
the world around you. Seek out mentors, participate in extracurricular activities,
volunteer for causes you believe in, and embark on journeys of self-discovery.
Remember, the greatest learning often happens outside the pages of a
textbook.

As we embark on another semester at Sushant University within the
School of Health Sciences, I extend a warm welcome to all our
students. Your presence enriches our campus, infusing life and
vitality into the university community. Through this edition of the
school's newsletter, I take the opportunity to encourage you to
exhibit your talents, explore your potential, and contribute at your
best to make the Allied healthcare fraternity proud.
At Sushant University we provide opportunities for overall
development by engaging our students’ in different extra-curricular
activities, webinars, workshops, conferences, & seminars.
It is our commitment to prepare students for successful careers
through various meaningful internships and training opportunities.
The changing trends in the field of Allied Health Care requires a
well-equipped work force and I am very proud on our alumni who
are making significant impacts in the field of health care.
By the end I urge you all to maintain a healthy work life balance and

We hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. The School of Health Sciences
has been actively fostering educational and professional growth, and we are delighted to share
some exciting updates from recent hospital visits and engaging events that our students and
faculty have participated in.
Hospital Visits:
Our students had the privilege of visiting some prominent healthcare institutions, gaining
valuable insights into the latest advancements in the field. The visits included:
1. Sanar Hospital: Exploring innovative healthcare practices.
2. Oncoplus Hospitals: Witnessing cutting-edge oncology care.
3. Hamdard Laboratories: Learning about pharmaceutical research and development.
4. Aashadeep Aashram: Understanding holistic healthcare approaches.
5. Prajnam Complete Breast Center: Gaining knowledge about breast health and diagnostics.
6. Microbe laboratory: Understanding the nitty gritty of diagnostic techniques
Events Participation:
Our school actively participated in various events, contributing to both community well-being
and academic enrichment. These events include:
1. International Optic Fair: Exploring the latest trends in optometry and vision care.
2. Eye Donation Walkathon: Supporting the noble cause of eye donation.
3. Suicide Prevention Day: Raising awareness and fostering mental health support.
4. World Heart Day: Promoting cardiovascular health and well-being.
5. Optometry Conference: Hosted by Department of Optometry, it provided a platform for in-
depth discussions on the latest in optometry
6. Radiology Day: A dedicated day to celebrate the contributions of radiology in healthcare
7. Radiology Day: A dedicated day to celebrate the contributions of radiology in healthcare
8. BLS Workshop CVT: A hands-on workshop on Basic Life Support for Cardiovascular
Technologists
We encourage all students and faculty to actively participate and make the most of these
opportunities for learning, networking, and personal development.

On 22nd August, 2023, a visit to Sanar Hospital


was conducted by the department of CVT for
clinical observations and to gain insight into
various diagnostic and treatment

Dept. of Optometry

The Department of Optometry attended the “International Optic


Fair” held from 2nd- 4th September at the Expo Center, Noida.
The students participated in he Optometry Quiz Competition and
won the 2nd prize. They also participated in the Poster Design and
Treasure Hunt Competition and bagged the 2nd prize.

conducted a visit at
Prajnam Complete Breast
Care to gain hands-on
experience and improve
our proficiency in
mammography and
ultrasound (USG)
modalities. The goal was to
enhance students’ skills
and knowledge in these
essential diagnostic
techniques.

Department of Pharmacy, organized a Guest lecture on “Pharmaceutical


Industrial Expectations from Students” on 15 September 2023.
Mr. Vijay Khanna’s role as the managing director of Times Drugs &
Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is marked by his remarkable oratory skills, making him a
compelling speaker who effectively motivates students. His speeches are
centered around enlightening students on the future possibilities within the
pharmaceutical industry. Beyond merely outlining the industry and
expectations from students, he underscores the significance of maintaining a
positive attitude. Mr. Khanna encourages students to recognize the crucial
role that a positive mindset plays in moulding their future trajectories and
achieving success in their professional endeavors. His messages serve not
only as guidance on industry expectations but also as a source of inspiration
for cultivating the right attitude towards their careers.

The Department of Psychology


organized a guest lecture on "World
Suicide Prevention Day." Dr Satish
Kaushik, a consulting counselling
psychologist and a certified life
coach was invited and gave an
engaging lecture using real life
situations and an interactive round
with students.
A reel making competition was also
organized for the entire SHS
department with the topic “Creating
Hope Through Action”, along with a
theatrical skit performance by the
students of Psychology.

The Department of Psychology, School of Health


Sciences organized a transformative experiential
learning trip to Deep Asharam, an orphanage dedicated
to caring for mentally challenged individuals. This
immersive experience provided our students with a
unique opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a
real-world setting, fostering empathy, compassion, and a
deeper understanding of mental health challenges.

Mr. Saurabh Saraswat, Mr. Ashish Sharma and Ms.


Deepika Yadav, Faculties along with 35 students from the
Department of Pharmacy SHS, visited the Oncoplus
Hospital. The purpose of the visit was to explore its
cancer operations, understand its approach to cancer
care, and learn about the hospital's contributions to the
field of oncology.
The visit included a guided tour of the hospital's facilities,
interviews with key personnel, and discussions with
healthcare professionals involved in cancer care.

School of Health Sciences, SHS (Department of Medical Radiology


and imaging Technology) of Sushant University organized an
Guest lecture on 27th October, 2023 between 11:00 am to 01:00
pm. The guest lecture was conducted by Mr. Arif Hussain Malla on
the topic “Exploring computed tomography (CT) instruments,
cutting edge advancements and diverse applications”. The aim
was to raise awareness about the new Technology used in CT and
some reconstructive methods to enhance image quality.

on “World Heart Day”. The theme of this

“Safeguarding Our Future: An Interdisciplinary Approach
to Tackle Existential Risks of Artificial Intelligence” by
Dr. Marisol Perez, Asso. Dean (ACD) & Professor, Arizona
State University (ASU) Psychology REACH, Health
Solutions Ambassador, College of Health Solutions.

Department of Optometry organized a Guest lecture


on 12th October, 2023. The guest lecture was given by
Dr. Sagun Sood. The event was conducted on the
occasion of World Sight Day on the topic “Heal your
eyes and let them work.” The aim was to raise
awareness about protecting vision at work, and
health-related issues and provide them advice in
future. The session was well equipped with all the
necessary details and knowledge.

hosted a national conference on the
"Role of Optometrists in the Digital
Era." The event was a resounding
success, featuring a roster of high-
profile speakers, informative
presentations, interactive sessions,
and workshops. The Conference
provided a platform for optometry
professionals, researchers, and
students to discuss and explore the
evolving landscape of optometry in
the digital age. The event aimed to
foster collaboration, knowledge
sharing, and awareness regarding the
challenges and opportunities in this
rapidly changing field. It involved
distinguished speakers, interactive
sessions, poster presentation, jam
session and workshop on Scleral

The Department of Optometry embarked on an industrial


visit to Arunodaya Deseret Eye Hospital. The visit was
further enriched with a captivating lecture by Dr. Subhadra
Jalali, Network Director, Quality Director, and New Eye
Health Alliance (NEHA) Consultant Ophthalmologist, who
shared her invaluable experiences and case reports, leaving
the participants enriched with knowledge and inspired by the
potential of modern eye healthcare.

School of Health Sciences, SHS (Department of Medical
Laboratory Technology) organized a Guest lecture by Dr.
Rachna on 27th October, 2023 between 11:00 am to 01:00 pm.
The guest lecture was conducted on the topic “New
Technology Trends in Laboratory Science.” The aim was to
raise awareness about the new Technology RNA sequencing
(RNA-Seq), the expedition of drug development and analytics
through clinical trials, Artificial Intelligence (AI) automation, and
supply chain disruption.

conducted Basic first aid training in collaboration with
Fortis Memorial and Research Institute, Gurgaon.

In the pursuit of gaining deeper insights into the Medical


Laboratory Technology and the remarkable strides made in
healthcare, a group of aspiring healthcare professionals from
the Department embarked on a Lab visit to “The Microbe”.
The purpose of this visit was to gain insight into the
functioning of the department, observe the various
laboratory techniques and equipment, and understand the
role of Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) in
healthcare.

The Department of Medical Radiology and imaging


Technology at Sushant University hosted World
Radiology Day. The event served as a significant
platform for radiology professionals, researchers, and
students to delve into the dynamic landscape of
radiology in the digital age.
The primary objectives of the conference were to foster
collaboration, encourage knowledge sharing, and raise
awareness about the challenges and opportunities in
the rapidly evolving field of radiology. The theme was
about celebrating patient safety.
