CU-ECC
CONDITION
CU-ECC2 ECC WITH AIR QUALITY SENSOR AND CARBONE FILTER
The climate unit is used to warm or cool the air in the cab and to defrost the windscreen and
windows. It is connected to the vehicle electrical system, engine cooling system and the AC system.
Every day, the AC compressor is engaged for a few seconds during the first cranking for lubrication
purposes. This does not apply if the ambient temperature is below the working temperature.
Tech data
Lowest ambient temperature 17 ℃
In the following modes, the AC compressor can be activated and deactivated:
● Manually
● Automatically (in automatic mode)
● Windscreen defrost mode.
The CCP has the following features:
● Enable AC
● Set automatic mode
● Set cab temperature
● Set air distribution to floor, vent, defroster or combinations of these
● Set fan speed
● Set air recirculation
● Set maximum defrost
● Parking climate (Applicable only for ECC and ECC2 variants)
Enable AC
The CCP, LECM (Living Environment Control Module) (in some vehicles) and the AC are enabled
either by using the specific AC button or by modifying the temperature request to enable the AC. The

AC will only be activated if the ambient temperature is above freezing, but the indicator always
shows ON or OFF irrespective of the ambient air temperature.
Precondition:
● Vehicle mode must be in Pre-running or Running for selection of ON or OFF, but the AC can
only be engaged in vehicle mode Running.
Set automatic mode
The driver can set the AC to automatic mode from the CCP.
In automatic mode, the following actuators adjust automatically to achieve a cab temperature that
corresponds to the cab temperature and windscreen demisting settings:
● Fan speed (according to selected value in instrument cluster: high, low or medium)
● Air distribution
● Heating valve and temperature flap
● AC mode, depending on ambient temperature
● Recirculation.
Recirculation is mainly used in warm conditions to improve the cooling effect in the cab.
The following actions deactivate the automatic mode:
● Fan speed is changed manually
● Air distribution is changed manually
● Maximum defrost is activated
● Recirculation is activated
● AC is turned OFF
Preconditions:
● Vehicle mode must be in Pre-running or Running
● No defect is detected in the climate system circuit.
Set cab temperature
The cab temperature can be selected from the CCP (and, in some vehicles, the LECM).
Precondition:
● Vehicle mode must be in Pre-running or Running.
Set air distribution
The driver can set the air distribution through the CCP or automatically controlled in automatic mode.
The air distribution settings are the floor, vent or defrost or a combination of any of these.
Precondition:

● Vehicle mode must be in Pre-running or Running.
Set fan speed
The driver can set the fan speed manually or automatically controlled in automatic mode.
If the fan speed is selected manually, the speed is shown to the driver in the CCP. If the fan speed is
set to zero, the AC and CCP are totally shut down.
Precondition:
● Vehicle mode must be in Pre-running or Running.
Set recycle cab air
Cab air recycling can be set manually.
The driver can set the cab air recycling manually.
Note
When an odour in the incoming air is detected, the cab air is automatically recycled (optional
in vehicles equipped with ECC).
● Cab air recycling is activated and deactivated from the CCP and shown in the CCP and in the
instrument cluster.
● Manually selected cab air recycling is deactivated if the automatic mode or max defrost is
activated.
● The automatic recycling of cab air due to odour can be set from the instrument cluster.
Precondition:
● Vehicle mode must be in Pre-running or Running.
Set max defrost
Max defrost is activated when rapid de-misting or de-icing of the windscreen and when manually
selected defrost through the air distribution selector is inadequate. AC is activated and air
recirculation, manual air distribution and fan speed are deactivated irrespective of previous settings.
● Max defrost can be activated manually from the CCP and shown in the CCP and in the
instrument cluster.
When max defrost is deactivated, the system automatically resumes the previous settings.
Precondition:
● Vehicle mode must be in Pre-running or Running.
Parking climate
If the vehicle has a parking heater and parking cooler, the automatic climate control tries to obtain
the set temperature. If heating is required, the fuel-operated heater starts and if cooling is required,
the electric compressor starts. The fan and other functions in the climate system are controlled
automatically.

IMPACT 4.07.174 15/04/2024
The parking heater or parking cooler can be activated manually from the CCP and shown in the
CCP and in the instrument cluster.
Precondition:
● Vehicle modes must be in Living, Accessory, Pre-running or Running.
Notable behaviour
● The air is slightly warmer at the feet than at the head to create a good working environment.
● The AC is activated when max defrost is selected, despite cold weather. It is then used to dry the
air to demist the windows.
● The AC compressor cannot be activated if the fan speed is set to zero. To activate the AC
compressor, push the automatic mode or increase the fan speed.
