A beautiful gift to humanity:

We should not distort it
A.P.J Abdul Kalam

The aim of science is to develop inquiring minds and curiosity, acquire knowledge,
conceptual understanding and skills to solve problems and make informed decisions

Life is incredibly varied, yet based on common processes. Intrinsic motivation arises
from a desire to learn a topic due to its inherent interests, for self-fulfilment,
enjoyment and to achieve a mastery of the subject.

Academic Window 2018-19 is planned as a skill-based questionnaire that

emphasizes on thinking skills, experimental skills and application skills.

It consists of the following units– Index, Exam wise syllabus, Glossary, Chapter
names and sample papers for Tests and Exams

This is composed and compiled on the basis of the latest syllabus prescribed by
CBSE and will be updated as and when required .

Sexual Reproduction
 In most animals, two individuals- a male and a female – are needed for reproduction,
therefore the reproduction is sexual.

 Each individual or parent produces a special sex cell known as .

 In animals, the gamete produced by the female is called the , and that

produced by the male is called the .

 When the sperm and ovum fuse together, they form the .
 This is the first cell of the new organism. This process of fusion of a male gamete and

a female gamete to form a zygote is called .

 The zygote undergoes cellular division and develops into an .

Fertilization

The first step in the process of reproduction is the fusion of a sperm

Viviparous and Oviparous Animals

We can classify animals according to how they are born

Birds, insects, reptiles and fish
Mammals are viviparous

Cloning is making an _________copy of another _____________.

Cloning produces genetically __________ copies of an animal or
plant, which are known as _______.
Clones can be _________made, but also occur naturally.
Cloning is an example of __________reproduction.

Cloning an animal involves _________ cell nucleus.

e.g. Dolly the Sheep.

The _________ of a sheep’s egg_________ was removed.

v. Part where development of the baby takes place
vi. Type of fertilization in hens.

5. In the given figure (4)

What does the figure represent?
Identify A,B & C.
What will happen if organ A is absent in an individual?

6. In the giv- en diagram

a. Name the process.

b. Label the parts in the diagram.

b) What is this process called and how is

it different from normal development?

c) Which other animal undergo this kind of

change?
d) Can we say human also undergo similar
process. Justify

11. Why do fish and frogs lay eggs in hundreds whereas a hen lays only one egg at
a time?

10
12. In the following flow diagram

a) Identify X, A,C.

cally
acceptable.
