The Most Feared And Successful Pirate Captain Of The...
For about two years, the notorious pirate, Blackbeard, was a glorious legend. Staring out as a
privateer crew member, he would soon became the most feared and successful pirate captain of the
infamous Queen Anne s Revenge. This all became fact when, at the start of the eighteenth century,
precious matter was found in the Americas. Rumors started to spread about these incredible
amounts of fabulous goods and was soon to be known all over Europe. As a result, due to all these
European ships bringing in their precious treasure and making very good money trading these
goods, the attraction for privateers came into play. Also known as the War of Spanish Succession,
Europeans legalized these privateers to attack and capture enemy ships along North America. As
time goes on, these privateers, such as Blackbeard, become extremely independent and start only
fighting for their own benefit pirates. This is where Blackbeard s legend begins. As of today
there is still almost no information on Blackbeard s previous life before he became a privateer
crew member. Not even his real name can be identified. Although, it is believed that Blackbeard is
from Bristol, a port in western England. However, his surname is Edward Teach and has two other
variations of Thatch or Thach. According to Lee, Teach was a tall man, robust and broad
shouldered...His eyebrows were phenomenally bushy and bristly...His broad hat and outer regalia,
meaning apparel, were frequently black, and he usually wore knee
Compare And Contrast The Book And Book
Quoting Joseph Conrad s famous statement as a storyteller My task which I am trying to achieve
is, by the powers of the written word, to make you hear, to make you feel it is, before all, to make
to see. Sixteen years later, D.W Griffith, a filmmaker echoes the same thoughts The task I m trying
to achieve is above all to make you see . George Bluestone s Novels into Film claims that between
the percepts of the visual image and the concept of the mental image lies the root difference between
two media. It is true that a noveland film are both raw form of artistic creativity and it helps us to see
a whole new world or imagination. However what is written and what is on screen, there will always
be a difference because it is a change... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It must be similar. In The Company of Wolves they seems to believe that werewolves are evil.
The narrator mentions that the wolf is carnivore incarnate it is rather like a machine function to
murder and devour. The wolf is said to be so evil that even his howl is in itself a murdering .
From both story it is clear that there is no point pitying the human side of werewolves as they
chose it themselves and it is through the child s pity that moves her to join the company of the
wolves . In both text and films, the themes being explored are sexuality and the loss of innocence.
Which are told brilliantly in both forms despites the way it has been told through text and on screen.

Warrior Poetry Research Paper
The phrase de opresso liber , the motto of the U.S. Army Special Forces, encompasses the goal of
all who serve. A phrase simply meaning to liberate the oppressed . Those who serve have been
known as heroes, patriots, and warriors. Those who serve both domestically and abroad. Serving
on and off the clock. These people are called warrior poets. Warrior poets are those whose souls
are ignited by a higher purpose, their minds sharpened by depth of thought, and their hands ready
to do horrible violence in the defense of others, while being lovers of both truth and people, and
defenders of them both. Being able to be compassionate and make decisions for themselves is a
key trait of warrior poets. The phrase sua sponte meaning of their own accord , the motto of the
U.S. Army 75th Ranger Regiment, is an important asset to have while facing opposition. They find
peace in their thoughts. Going through details of a mission, creating obstacles to challenge a new
tactic, reminiscing on the past, calculating the present, and predicting the future. Being able to think
of every possible situation and having the ability to respond to every single one is an important
skill that is occupied by all warrior poets. They lead the way... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They exemplify the characteristics that make up the best in a person. The ability to protect, serve
and be at peace is extraordinary. Thoughts keep them alert and ready for whatever needs to be
done. They are fierce aggressively and fierce emotionally. They find peace and power in their
faith. Warrior poets are committed to getting the objective completed without losing their fight or
spirit. They are also determined to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Warrior poets are those
whose souls are ignited by a higher purpose, their minds sharpened by depth of thought, and their

Intellectual Disabilities Assessment Paper
This week we read about assessments and different ways to evaluate and target the specific needs of
the students that have intellectual disabilities. An educational plan created by the educational team
provides strategies and accommodations to help move the student forward. Teachers should make
sure they communicate with the family so they get a chance to express the strengths and weaknesses
of what they observe in the home setting for the student. Previous information, such as a work
portfolio from the student, is passed on so that the teacher can get a glimpse of what the student is
capable of doing. When students with intellectual disabilities move from one grade to another, or
enter schoolfor the first time, there is a series of assessments
Effects Of Murder In Macbeth
Murder is a damaging act to one s mind. After committing/assisting in a murder, the mind is
changed, and changes the overall person as well. These changes are different in all situations. They
depend on the level of involvement, what the person is like before, and how violent the actual
murder is. The most impactful element, however, is the violence of the murder. For example,
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were described by Shakespeare both before and after the murder. This
helps readers to understand the characters mindsets and how the event has shaped them. One of the
best examples of murder s influence on the mind comes from Shakespeare s play Macbeth. Before
committing any murder, Macbeth was lighthearted and not at all serious. Even... Show more content

If anything, real people are affected more. There is more scientific backing to how they re
affected. One of the most active parts of the brain during a murder is the orbitofrontal cortex. This
part of the brain is involved with moral sensitivity. In a study conducted with soldiers, this area was
more active when the soldier was aware of shooting an innocent person in the simulation. there was
consistently greater activity in the lateral portion of the OFC when subjects imagined shooting
civilians. A region of the brain that tends to be less active during murder is the lingual gyrus. This
region is the part of the brain that would justify a murder. Increased activity would be seen when
soldiers would kill enemies. This could explain why the effect isn t as drastic on the brain when the
killing seems justified, versus the orbitofrontal cortex being more active in more of the unjustified
murders, which can tend to be more
Analysis of William Wordsworth s Poem We Are Seven Essay
Analysis of William Wordsworth s Poem We Are Seven
William Wordsworth s poem, We are Seven, is about a person talking to a young girl about her and
her six siblings. Throughout the poem, the narrator gave the young girl a very difficult time when
she persisted that simply because not all seven children were home together, or alive, they were still
seven. The narrator was giving the young girl a hard time because he wanted her to remember and
understand that just because she and her siblings are separated does not make them any less siblings.
Wordsworth says that two of the seven siblings are at Conway. In what way would two siblings
being far from home make them be considered not siblings? Would that not be like saying to a ...

In the poem, the little girl says, Two of us in the church yard lie, / My sister and my brother;
(Lines 21 22). Insisting that they are still seven, the young girl shows a lot of grace and mature
understanding. This is the majority of the poem because the narrator thinks it is most important
that the young girl understands she has still has five siblings, despite two of them have passed
and, their graves are green, they may be seen (Line 37). The girl is only eight years of age and
she understands that her deceased siblings are still her siblings even though they are not still
living. Making sure she understands she still has five siblings is exactly what the narrator s goal
is, but the narrator is pretending to believe they are only five. The narrator reinforces his belief in
lines 35 36: If two are in the church yard laid,/ Then ye are only five. The conversation resurfaces
later in the poem, in lines 61 64: How many are you, then, said I,/ If they two are in heaven?
/ Quick was the little Maid s reply,/ O Master! We are seven. No matter what is said by the
narrator, the eight year old girl insists that they are seven. Two siblings being dead is the most
reinforced because the narrator and the little girl know that her siblings at Conway or at sea are
anticipated to return home sometime. The other two, the deceased two, will never return home.
The small gal lightly touches on two of her other siblings who are
Comparing Ganymede In Barnfield s Hero And Leander
Ganymede is used as a point of comparison for characters in both Barnfield s Affectionate
Shepherd and Marlowe s Hero and Leander. Ganymede s name can be used to stress how
beautiful a character is as well as present them as a homoerotic character. In this two particular
texts, Ganymede s name is used to present the characters he is compared to as more beautiful than
him and as objects of homoerotic desire who are, despite this, not necessarily homoerotic
themselves. This brings to question Ganymede s control over his, and the characters he is compared
to, life as well as how using his name effects not only the characters but the overall meaning of the
text. Ganymede is supposed to be an exceptionally beautiful character, and because of this,... Show

In this way, the writer used Ganymede s name on top of descriptions to stress just how beautiful
the boy is. The idea of the beloved being more beautiful than Ganymede can also be seen in Hero
and Leander. As soon as Leander jumps naked into the narrow, Neptune sees him and instantly
becomes both sexually aroused and convinced that this man is Ganymede (639 644). Neptune
only discovers that this man is not Ganymede when he almost drowns. In this case, not only is the
character Leander so beautiful that he could be Ganymede, but Neptune transfers his love onto
Leander most likely because of his similarities to Ganymede. Choosing to move his desires to
Leander presents the idea that he is in some way more desirable than the real Ganymede, and this
could possibly be because of his appearance. In both cases, the character Ganymede is presented as
a figure of beauty who, when used as an ideal, presents a level of beauty that can only be achieved
by few. Because of their beauty, both character have to deal with undesired attention from other male
characters that make them into the homoerotic character. By making the characters as beautiful as
Ganymede, the writers also make the characters more desirable to others including men.
Mexican Labor Laws Essay
A Comparative Analysis of Labor Law and Practices between Mexico and the U.S. Following the
passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA), many United States based
industries and corporations began investing in plant operations in Mexico due to the cost cutting
efficiencies that Mexican labor offered. Due to a low cost of production this spurred the growth of
Mexican manufactured goods which were exported and purchased mainly by American consumers.
For many of these businesses it was their first time opening operations in the Central American
country, and American businesses shared concerns over regulatory differences in U.S. and Mexican
labor laws. The scope of this paper is to examine some of the similarities and differences... Show

In the United States workers generally pay into these programs in the form of a tax in exchange
for future benefits; however, in Mexico this burden lies on mainly employer contributions which
total around one third of a workers overall salary in one year. Mexican employers pay this money
to the Mexican Social Security Institute(IMSS), who oversee worker benefits. (IMSS) funds are
obtained primarily through employer contributions(70%), but also come from employees(25%)
and from the government (5%) (Posthuma, Dworkin, Torres, Bustillos 2000). Just as in the U.S.
all workers must enroll into this program. The program not only serves as a means of retirement
pensions, but also includes full family medical care, unlike the private insurance system that is
more prominent in the United States. The IMSS is also responsible for social services such as
free child care centers and death benefits. There is also a separate system in Mexico that is much
like the transferable IRA system that is used in the United States. These additional retirement funds
are often managed by a third party such as a bank or investment firm and employers are required to
contribute a minimum of two percent of one s salary and up to a maximum of twenty five percent

Unwind Quotes
Unwind In the novel Unwind by Neal Shusterman, Lev changed over time because in the
beginning he is easy going and by the end, he is willing and caring. Lev has many different
feelings and thoughts throughout the book. At some times, Lev doesn t think about what he is
doing and takes risks. All of the characters change, but Lev changes more. He undergoes a major
conformation. In the beginning, Lev was happy about going to the camp and just went along with
what happened. On page 34 he says This is what I was born for. It s what I lived for. I am chosen. I
am blessed. And I am happy.¨ This illustrates that he doesn t want to be unwound. He just goes along

Suburban Sitcoms In The 60 s
Suburban sitcoms coming out in the late 50 s early 60 s portrayed usually an average family with
average problems it solves by the end of the episode, most sitcoms including Leave It To Beaver
followed the same formula; two white parents, a mother, and father, and 2 3 children; every
episode followed the same steps, there s a problem, the problem is solved by the end of the
episode, and a lesson is learned by the main character. This held up perfectly in the 50 s and 60 s
society, but sitcoms needed to adapt to fit their society, as time progressed, more important issues
showed up in the shows, and as the US became more diverse so did the sitcoms. Today suburban
sitcoms couldn t be more different. As society became more diverse, more sitcoms were made to
cater to the new audience.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Recruiting Challenges in the Public Sector
December 22, 2008
Final Project: Recruiting Challenges in the Public Sector There are rules, regulations and ordinances
that all guide the recruiting process in the public sector; however, in my opinion these challenges
just interfere with a governmental agencies ability to hire the best and most qualified new
employees. As an example, a couple of the solutions that I think will help the public sector s
recruiting process are 1) making the application process more simplistic, 2) targeting younger
workers by working with universities and colleges and 3) developing a workforce strategy. The
public sector has a lot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to recruiting in the private sector, there are a few guidelines that you might
reference here and there, but by and large recruiting is done without interference. The process
seems fairly simple; you develop a job description, establish a salary structure and place an
advertisement. There are no testing requirements or mandates that you need to satisfy to be able to
hire a new employee. Along with this the time it takes to recruit someone in the private sector takes
only as long as it takes to get a qualified applicant to apply for a position and interview for the job.
Interviewing is straight forward and although an applicant might go through two or three interviews,
before being offered the position, there is no one outside the organization telling the organization
how to recruit and how to hire a qualified applicant. Recruiting in the public sector is so much more
complex than it is in the private sector. In the public sector many positions have testing requirements
built into them. This means that you must test the candidates that meet the minimum qualifications,
which at times means you test over 100 people with some positions, and with some positions within
the Fire and Police Departments; this means that there could be well over 1,000 applicants to test.
The testing process various by positions, for
Meaning Of Life In Tim Winton s Cloudstreet
Tim Winton s funny and sprawling saga, Cloudstreet is an Australian classic novel which shows a
tightly structured narrative that charts twenty years of cohabitation of two contrasting working
class families, the Pickles and the Lambs, thrown together in misfortune to live under one roof in
No.1 Cloudstreet. Winton paints a nostalgic picture of Australia s post war past, evokes a time
and place that no longer exists. Winton s characters are a restless mob who individually are
finding one s place in the world or in society and each are searching for the meaning of life. We
learn about Fish s and Rose s characters through a flexible, shifting narrative (cyclical) structure and
omniscient point of view that gives us access to their thoughts and feelings.... Show more content on

Each of the characters carries with them a small history which, in return becomes part of a
complicated series of stories. Samson Fish Lamb, the favourite son of Lester and Oriel Lamb, is
intellectually handicapped due to a drowning accident not all of Fish Lamb had come back , uses
descriptive and poetic language makes this symbolic and momentary event create emphasis on the
impact this momentary death had on the beliefs of the Lamb family not only as a whole, but
individually as well. Fish is now stuck half way through a metaphysical window; spiritual and
