The Problem Of Drug Trafficking
The US/ Mexico borderlands are the site of a number of flows of goods, people, and ideas over
the last century. The US is attempting to increase the flow of some goods such as food, but
restricting others like illegal immigration and drug trafficking. The US has been trying to stop drug
smugglers and illegal immigration by setting some policies. When Salinas became the president of
Mexico, his number one priority was to stop drugtrafficking and smugglingit into the US so both
countries could sit and talk about NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement). Drug
trafficking was and still is the number one problem in Mexico. During Salina s six year term in
office, arrests nearly doubled, prominent traffickers were jailed, and principal figures in the
Camarena case were convicted. (Andreas) The Salina s antidrug offensive helped pacify US
critics and paved the way for the passage of NAFTA. But this agreement did not stop drug
smugglers, it actually encouraged more drug related corruption. As more government resources
were devoted to drug control, smugglers responded by devoting more resources to paying off
those doing the controlling. (Andreas) The NAFTA was consider a success in the early years, US
Government thought that Salina s government did very good and it was going to stop drug
trafficking. It was not until later that they realized NAFTA was not as good as it looked, Mexican
trucks were able to cross the border with food without being checked by the US police, so
Cheyenne Social Structure
The Cheyenne are commonly known as hunters after abandoning agriculture in the eighteenth
century. They are made up of the Northern and Southern groups found within the high plains at the
central portion. They are Algonquian speakers, with the Southern and Northern Cheyenne having
diverse dialect. The Cheyenneare originally from Minnesota where they left before settling in the
High plains.
History and Art The Cheyenne settlement was raided by the white people in the late 1800s where
they experienced several hostilities. This left women and Children dead adding on to the cholera
outbreak. The little big Horn which the community participated in was bound to create a
reservation for the Cheyenne. The cosmological aspect of the Cheyenne shows that they do not
hold a concept for the existence of the earth (Sutton, 2016). The political structure of the
Cheyenne was governed by bands which were made up of related families and a population of
between 300 400 people. The highest political authority was made up of an all male band. All those
below were the primary chiefs who held less power but were still a very important aspect of the
community s political structure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The families all differed in terms of their status. The men in the families were engaged in hunting
and warfare while women did all the domestic chores. The Dog soldiers formed the military
society and played a role in governing the community s activities. The social organization did not
rely on clans. Formal instruction within the family was meant for girls and adult males. This is
basis to the Cheyenne life cycle. The members of the community would not be named until they
were at the age of five or six. Adultery had been made a rare aspect within the society as a result of
the legalization of polygyny which was
Rod Serling s Judgment Night
The Twilight Zone TV show aired on American television from 1959 to 1964. Over 150 episodes
broadcast to millions of Americans, satisfying the thirst for entertainment and curiosity of the
unknown. The show delved into a wide array of topics, which included the supernatural, science
fiction, and fantasy. The show s creator, narrator, and lead screenwriter Rod Serlinggot a kick start
for The Twilight Zonefrom his story called The Time Element , which he had submitted to CBS,
where it was produced as part of the Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse anthology. It received a great
deal of complementary mail and prompted CBS to commission a Twilight Zone pilot for a possible
series. Therefore, Rod Serling wrote another story, which would be the pilot... Show more content on

In the episode, the setting is on a freighter called the Queen of Glasgow in the Atlantic during
World War II. A passenger named Carl Lanser finds himself on this ship, and is unable to
remember how he got there, why he is there, or what he does, yet he remembers his name and
where he came from. The one important thing about him is that he seems to have heard and seen
all this before. In the written version of this episode, Rod Serling describes this as though Lanser,
could recall seeing them [people s faces] so many times before (page 66). The story evolves even
more when Lanser says something will happen at 1:15. Lanser stares intently at the clock until
1:15, and suddenly the engines stop running. All of a sudden, a U boat shell hits the ship. Lanser
runs outside with some binoculars and looks at the U Boat. He nearly faints at the sight of himself
standing on the deck of the U boat. In the end, the U boat sinks the ship, and the passengers drown.
At the end of the episode, the Carl Lanser on the U boat discusses the event with one of his men.
The man tells Lanser that they should have warned the passengers before shooting ship, which
Lanser ridicules him for it. He says that it is wrong and that they will ultimately suffer their own
personal hell for it. The man adds that they might have to relive the experience that the passengers of
the ship had as punishment. At this point, the viewer is finally able to realize what happened. The
moral of the episode is that no one is safe from judgment, no matter what the circumstance may
Banking Regulation Basel II
Procyclicality in minimum regulatory capital charges for credit risk
There is a vast amount of literature available on the additional procyclicality of regulatory capital
charges in Pillar 1 of Basel II. In this section, we shall briefly visit this literature and see if any
conclusions can be drawn from this, before proceeding to the conclusion and mitigation of these
procyclical effects. The majority of the literature, as expected, focuses primarily on the IRB
approach, as this aspect of Basel II has drawn the most criticism from financial practitioners and
academics alike. The greater part of this literature has found that there is an overwhelmingly
substantial rise in procyclicality of minimum regulatory capital charges originating ... Show more

This is the biggest problem, and has to be addressed correctly once economic conditions are
conducive to do so. Within the specified Tier 1 requirement, common shares and retained earnings
should be a priority and form the predominant form of capital. To ensure the quality of this capital,
the Basel Committee should harmonize capital deductions and prudential filters (FSF BCBS, 2009).
The committee should also enhance the disclosure of the components of regulatory capital in order
to increase transparency within the system and avoid confusion in terms of the quality of capital
required.
(2) The Basel Committee should make adjustments to their framework to inhibit excessive
cyclicality of the minimum capital requirements
The Basel Committee has made a reasonable effort to mitigate this cyclicality already, by monitoring
the impact of cyclicality through data collection (via their Capital Monitoring Group). This data is
available every 6 months, and helps the committee monitor the extent to which the capital regime
reveals excessively high levels of capital cyclicality. In correspondence with this data monitoring, the
Basel Committee must review the ways in which cyclicality, arising from the Pillar 1 capital
requirement calculation, can be abated. They must try and maintain the risk sensitivity of the inputs,
but also create an emphasis on dampening the effects of cyclicality on the outputs. This way the
Emily Dickinson Manipulation
Time is defined as the indefinite continuation of existence with events such as past, present and
future regarded as a whole. In the human world it has become commonplace for us to regard time
regularly despite how astronomically complex it is in both theory and reality. Time is widely
recognized as an irreverisble process, but when it is played around with it can explain what we
cannot understand through its normal flow. Such is the case with the poems of American poet
Emily Dickinson, who practices the art of manipulating timethrough precise movements and careful
calculations in order to demonstrate to a human mind an idea that she feels is something we do not
fully grasp, like in the poem Because I could not stop for Death . Dickinson s use of time is to
convey the ideas which we cannot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a normal light, one would not be able to truly understand just how the speaker has experienced
her time with death if she simply explained it as one whole event. For instance, We slowly drove
He knew no haste, demonstrates just how slowly the time has passed for her in comparison to the
world around them. Furthermore, Since then tis Centuries and yet / feels shorter than the Day,
explicitly states that, in fact, it has been centuries since her ride began despite feeling shorter than
a day. In these cases, time is put into a small window frame that broadens our horizons on just how
time in the world has passed for the speaker. It assists our thinking processes to fully appreciate
how time has impacted the speaker while also explaining just how a concept like Death shifts time
to the back of our minds when it has played such a heavy role in our lives. To summarize, Dickinson
conveys, through time, that the journey of death is something that feels too short, but has actually

Essie Lee Expose Franklin
Today, my family and I are mourning the loss of our beloved sister, Essie Lee Expose Franklin.
She was our oldest sister; she was calm, cool, and logical. My father and mother spurned 13
children together. One child died in early infancy and one brother died in a car crash at the tender
age of 21 or 22, shortly after he returned from the Vietnam War.

When Essie finished high school, like so many black Mississippians, She left the state and headed
for California to realize her dream. She was part of an exodus of blacks leaving the South during
the early and mid 19 century to escape the Jim Crow Laws . Essie and her husband, Joseph
Franklin, a fellow Mississippian, worked hard. They did not have expensive higher education

The Effect Of Gamma Rays On Man
In The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds, Paul Zindel depicts a world startled
by the precarious nature of life. Consequentially, the play focuses intently on the human struggle
for acceptance and self worth, and how each individual conforms and reacts to uncertainties.
Tillie, the protagonist in the play, struggles to preserve order in her imprisoned life. Her mother
Beatrice, discouraged by her own life, controls and restricts Tillie from achieving her full
potential. The perplexing relationship between Tillie and her mother serves to highlight the
unfathomable struggle for self efficacy and finding ways to cope amidst the stark instabilities of
life. Beatrice serves as an obstacle and an unpredictable force in life which Tillie must overcome
in order to find self value. On the other hand, Tillie creates an obstacle for Beatrice, which
Beatrice also must tackle to preserve her diminishing pride. The relationship between Tillie and
Beatrice not only highlights the struggle to find pride in a fickle world, but it also evaluates how
some fail and others prosper based on how one responds to life s capriciousness. The play centers
around Beatrice s relationship with her children, Ruth and Tillie, however, her relationship with
Tillie is more meaningful for the development of the plot. Beatrice, the antagonist of the play, is a
single mother who was left unexpectedly by two central male figures in her life, her husband and her
father. These events nursed a
Only the Heart
Only The Heart is a novel written by Brian Caswell and David Chiem that tells a story familiar to
many Australians. A Vietnamese family is threatened, pulled apart by the war in that country. Some
of its members disappear; hard earned wealth is lost. The novel leads the reader to a new
understanding of refugees with the demonstrated views of pain, determination, survival and freedom,
which are brought to life throughout the novel. The fall of Saigon in 1975 provides the momentum
for Mai and her daughters, Phuong and Linh, with Mai s brother Minh, his wife Hoa and their three
sons, to escape the new regime that has transformed their country into a prison.

ABOUT THE INDUSTRY

India is the second largest mobile handset market in the world after China and is poised to
become a much larger market. The steady rise in the income levels of India s growing middle
class means that more people can afford mobile service. In addition, more and more people are
opting for higher end devices such as Smartphone especially as a younger generation increasingly
relies on mobile phones for Internet access and data usage. This demand will likely lead to a surge
in Smartphone sales in India. The Smartphone market is also fueled by the recent launch of 3G
services, which is expected to
Critical Pedagogy And The Reggio Emilia
Critical pedagogy and The Reggio Emilia approach on play based learning should be merged into
early childhood education as obtaining the skills to critically analyze and problem solve has the
potential to change society and thus the potential to change the world.
It is important individuals become aware of what critical pedagogy is. Critical pedagogy stems from
the idea that there is an unequal social structure in our society which is based upon class, race and
gender. It has been formulated and influenced by many psychologists and philosophers including
John Dewey and Paulo Freire. Critical pedagogy is an attempt at freedom from oppression through
democratic critical thinking. In critical pedagogy the knowledge learned within the classroom should
correlate with and not be separated from any social structure, culture, politics, economics or any
ideology taking place with society. The idea is, that in order to orchestrate change, individuals must
become aware of the social, cultural, ideological, and or economic influence exerted upon society.
Once the individual becomes aware of the hegemony taking place they can then analyze their
situation and implement change for the greater good.
John Dewey born October 20th, 1859 was an American psychologist and philosopher. He was known
well for his avocation in democracy and his theories on progressive education which correlate and
transition into critical pedagogy. His theories focused on the argument that learning and education are
Religion Of Euthanasia Research Paper
The Ethics and Religion of Euthanasia
Euthanasia is the idea of helping a person who decided they wanted to die meet their end quickly
and painlessly. This is also called assisted suicide. Most of the cases of euthanasia are related to a
terminally ill person who wishes to end their life as easy as possible, rather than suffering through
the effects of the illness killing them. The topic of euthanasia is one of the biggest controversies in
medicine today, due to the religious and ethical problems of interfering with the natural right to a
natural death (Dowbiggin, I. R., 2003, p. 2).
Euthanasia is legal in 4 states, with the other 46 states and D.C. calling Physician assisted suicide
illegal. The oldest state to adopt assisted suicide is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even today, many states and countries have laws against it. And the areas that do allow it have
strict guidelines that encourage patients to take time in their decision to be completely sure it s
what they want. There will always be a debate on which side of euthanasia is considered right .
Should it be legal to end one s pain and suffering, or is it unnatural to help take someone s life on
purpose? Every person has their own opinion. Some may even flip between the two sides depending
on the situation. Either way, Euthanasia will continue to spark controversy between what is should
and shouldn t be done to a
Auto Insurance Liability
If a person gets injured as a passenger in a vehicle, he or she

may be entitled to compensation for the damages received.

The ability to recover and the amount of the recovery is based

on many factors.

Liability

If the plaintiff sues the driver or seeks to recover under an

auto insurance claim, he or she must be able to show that the

driver is liable. One or both drivers can be liable for the accident.

If only one vehicle was involved in the accident, the claim will

be on the driver s insurance policy. This type of claim is

straightforward because the driver of the automobile has usually

done something incorrect or failed to do something that

resulted in the accident. In cases involving more than one

driver, the insurance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Whether the passenger files a

claim or multiple claims will depend on the actual

circumstances. For example, if one of the drivers was

obviously not negligent based on the circumstances, such as

being in a legally parked vehicle or being rear ended, the

passenger may file a claim against the other driver.

The process of filing a claim may be different if the accident

occurred in a no fault state. These claims do not require on

the showing of negligence in order to provide for the medical

portion of the claim.

Settlement Issues
The next part of the process is to attempt to settle the claim. If

two vehicles were involved in the accident, neither party may

want to settle because each party claims the other was

negligent. Another issue could be be if more than one

passenger was in the vehicle and received damages or

injures. Most insurance policies have a maximum amount of

recoverable compensation for all injury claims. If multiple

passengers suffer serious injuries, each passenger may need

to file a seperate lawsuit against the driver at fault in order to

recover the full amount of their damages.

Comparative Fault

In some instances, insurance companies may try to

Theme Of Chivalry In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
The poem, Sir Gawain and The Green Knight, is an extravagant poem that portrays chivalry and
gallantry. This poem incorporates many symbols and parallels within itself. The lord of the castle
where Sir Gawain is resting, proposes an offer to Gawain, which he accepts, three days after he
arrives. The Lord s offer to Gawain was, That whatever I win in the woods be yours, and any
achievement you chance on here, you exchange for it (Lines 1106 1107). These two huntingscenes,
the lord hunting a deer, a boar, and a fox; and the womanwho hunts Sir Gawain, encompass many
similarities between each other, including the lord and his wife being the aggressors and the
animals and Sir Gawain being the prey. As the morning of the first day of the exchange game came
upon, the lord and his hunters banned together to hunt a deer; a creature with strong intuition. The
hunters had to trap the deer first, then kill the deer with their arrows and knives. Meanwhile, at the
castle, Gawain is roused from a noise he heard behind the curtain surrounding his bed. He sees the
lord s wife creeping upon him through the curtain and pretends to be asleep. The correspondence...

Gawain was caught by the hunter, the Green Knight, just as the deer, boar, and fox were. In
correspondence with the fox, Gawain flinched to try to avoid his death by the Green Knight. The
Green Knight eventually announces he was the lord at the castle and put Gawain through tests with
his wife. The Green Knight eventually states Gawain broke the code of honor trust. Gawain,
humiliated, leaves with the girdle. Gawain throughout the poem embodied similar traits to those of
the animals the lord hunted. Different situations bring about different characteristics for every
person. Gawain illustrated those of the deer, boar, and fox. Given these points, no matter the person,

Holococcus Pyogenes Research Paper
Streptococcus Pyogenes is a gram positive facultative anaerobic bacterium. It is also known as a
beta hemolytic group A streptococcus or Lancefield Group A streptococcus. Streptococci are
round, spherical bacteria that grow in pairs or chains. Most microbiologists will say under the
microscope they look like a string of pearls. S. Pyogenes is the most commonly associated with
the strep throat. It is responsible for several other diseases as well as some post streptococcal
infections. The invention and advances made with antibiotics are greatly decreased the effects of
Streptococcus Pyogenes. Strep Throat is an infection of the tonsils and pharynx. Its symptoms
include: sore throat, high fever, chills, headache, swollen lymph nodes and trouble swallowing. This
disease usually effects school aged children. It is very contagious, and is spread through close
contact with those individuals coughing and sneezing. Once strep is identified as the pathogen, with
a rapid strep test, the doctor will prescribe a drug in the penicillin family as treatment. Penicillin
attacks the cell wall of the bacteriaas it is trying to replicate. This decreases the amount of new

blisters burst and scab over. Treatment is generally to apply a topical antibiotic cream directly on
the lesions, but if the infection is severe enough oral antibiotics will be prescribed. Due to the close
