The Changing Nature of Aboriginal and Non-aboriginal...
The Changing Nature of Aboriginal and Non aboriginal Relations in Australia from 1946 2000

Since the arrival of Europeans the Aboriginal population has suffered in terms of status, wealth,
health and sense of identity. Although there have been steps towards reconciliation there is still a
long way to go until Indigenous Australians enjoy the same status as non indigenous Australians. A
referendum was made in 1967, it was a hallmark in Aboriginal history. It was the beginning of the
righting of the wrongs that had been committed against the Australian indigenous population since
the arrival of white settlers. The referendum was the first time that Aboriginal people were fully
acknowledged as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Menzies government in 1965 put forward a bill that would repeal section 127 of the
constitution but would leave section 51 unchanged. Menzies reasoned that The words are a
protection against discrimination by the Commonwealth parliament in respect of Aborigines (John
Gardiner Garden 1997). Both Houses passed the proposed bill but it lapsed as no further action was
taken.

A new government took office and in 1967 the new Prime Minister, Harold Holt, announced that
his government intended to reintroduce the 1965 bill but with new amendments. He intended to
also include section 51 as well as section 127. As leader of the opposition, Gough Whitlam
supported the bill, as it would allow the Federal government, for the first time, to assist our
indigenous population. Mr. Holt announced on March 14th 1967 that a referendum would be held
after the proposed act passed through both houses. Within the referendum another question would
be asked, the people would be asked if alterations should be made to numbers in the Senate and the
House of Representatives. The bill was passed and the referendum date was set for 27th of May 1967

On May 27th 1967, 5801584 people went to the polls to vote in the referendum. In relation to

Anencephaly Research Paper
Anencephaly is a neural tube defect (NTD) that happens during embryonic fetal development. The
neural tube is a narrow channel in the head and spinal cord. It normally folds and closes between
the third and fourth weeks of pregnancy. Anencephaly occurs when the head end of the neural tube
(cephalic end) fails to close. This causes a major portion of the brain, skull and scalp not to develop.
Infants with this disorder are born without the front part of the brain (forebrain) and the thinking and
coordinating part of the brain (cerebrum). The remaining brain tissue is often not covered by bone
or skin (exposed).

CAUSES
The cause is unknown. The mother s diet and vitamin intake may play a role. Other factors could
include:
Genetics (heredity). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is recommended that all women of childbearing age take folic acid daily. The usual dosage is
400 micrograms (0.4 mg) daily taken before getting pregnant and 4 mg a day before getting
pregnant if you had a child with an NTD.

SYMPTOMS
A baby born with this disorder is usually:
Blind.
Deaf.
Unconscious.
Unable to feel pain.
Some children with anencephaly may be born with a rudimentary brain stem. But the lack of a
functioning cerebrum permanently rules out the possibility of ever gaining consciousness. Reflex
actions such as breathing and responses to sound or touch may occur.

DIAGNOSIS
Diagnosis is suspected when the prenatal screening test for alpha fetoprotein is abnormal. Then, fluid
is removed from the amniotic sac (amniocentesis) and an ultrasound is performed. All pregnant
women should have prenatal testing for possible abnormalities.

TREATMENT
There is no cure or treatment for this disorder. Any kind of treatment, nutrition, hydration with fluids
and oxygen do not help. Treatment is supportive. The likely outcome for babies born with
anencephaly is extremely
Explanation Of Solubility Research
What is solubility? Solubility is a chemical property referring to the ability for a given substance, the
solute, to dissolve in a solvent. (Science Daily, 2014) Solubility occurs around people throughout
their everyday life, and is exemplified through their food and drinks, and even the air that surrounds
them. Solubilityis a complex idea that can be understood in a simpler form, i.e., having hot coffee
and adding sugar to it. It appears that the hot coffee melts the salt, but deeper beyond the surface the
hot coffee molecules break apart the sugar molecules; the molecules are broken down, because of the
increase in temperature that causes the molecules to collide harder. The collision is caused by the
faster, vibrating molecules in the solution.
The solute (salt) is the substance that dissolves in the solvent (water) and it depends on a few things:
temperature, volume, type of solvent and concentration. The solubility of most salts can be found on
a solubility curve and it expresses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second law of thermodynamics is a general principle that expresses how some solutes
dissolve in decreased temperatures, because it places constraints upon the direction of heat
transfer and the attainable efficiencies of heat engines (R Nave). In other words, in all energy
exchanges if no energy enters or leaves the system, the potential energy of the state will always be
less than that of the initial state. (Farabee, 2010) The second law is commonly known as the law
of increased entropy, a measure of unusable energy within a closed or isolated system and it is a
system of chaos. (All about science, 2002) The kinetic energy of the solution increases with the
temperature and it allows the particles to slide between each other; It can be understood by
imagining a vibrating molecule engulfing a regular molecule and breaking it
Fallen Angel Basquiat
Today we are viewing a painting by Jean Michel Basquiat Untitled (Fallen Angel) created in 1981
using acrylic and oil stick on canvas. I will articulate a few of the elements and principles Basquiat
uses in this painting that make this an amazing piece of art that sold for $11.2 million in 2008.
In the top left side of the painting Basquiat used a black vertical brushstroke to create an implied
line. This line is located inside a slightly open orange geometric shape of an implied rectangle. In
the bottom left tip of the angel wing, the artist uses different hues of yellow, a sunshine yellow
layered on top of a shaded Dijon yellow to show different value. The foreground and middle ground
show occupied space by the fallen angel, whereas the blue background shows open space. The artists
use of color is bold and distinctive with the contrast of warm hues used in the angel such as yellow,
red, and orange, against the cool blue background. Basquiat shows implied texture at the top of the
angel using a black semi circular halo that has sharp, jagged vertical black lines that represent spikes

Whereas, in the foreground and middle ground the artist creates variety using several different
analogous color inside the angel and other figures. One focal point is the largest figure in the
center of the painting, the angel, its location and large size show that it s a focal point. In the
lower tip of the angels right wing are swerving, dancing lines, that our eye naturally follow taking
us on a gracefully curving visual ride that draws the eye to the next part of the painting showing
rhythm. On the top right corner under the grey area, is a set of black incomplete half squares that
resemble shelves on a wall, this is an example of pattern. Basquiat creates contrast by using
complementary colors orange and blue, the orange above the right wing in the lines of the crown
and the blue in the
The Significance of the Open-Source Act and Linux Essay
The Significance of the Open Source Act and Linux

In the 1980 s hardly anyone knew what a DOS attack was, most people hadn t ever seen a
computer. There was one great OS for companies back then, UNIX. Unix was commercially made,
very expensive, but was a very strong Operating System. Because of the price of equipment, many
people wouldn t get into computers, but there was no reason to. Nothing of great significance was
stored on computers.

By 1985, computers hit the mainstream, providing many universities with links to each other and
their libraries. This all came along with the invention of the Internet. Suddenly there was a great
amount of information available to those who had access. There were many people who wanted to

Before long, every hacker and their brother knew how to find a big error in the Unix code on any
server. They exploited the servers with many different attacks, mostly being troublesome for no
reason. Phone lines and networks were taken down left and right, and many devices came about
to help deal with the phone system. Many phreakers had developed boxes, named by color, that
would do things to the phone network, just by holding it up to the reciever to play recorded
tones. There was the red box: A box that could get you free long distance calls. There was a beige
box: A box that would make any calls you made untraceable by the FBI or Mamma Bell, a
nickname for the Owner of Packard Bell, a large phone company.

With the growth of the hackers, many new ways of protecting your systems had to come about.
Routers, firewalls, and many other types of security precautions came about. They prevented many
hackers from breaking in, but all it took is one to find a way around, and everyone would know. But
with the FBI and Mamma Bell handing out arrest warrants left and right, many hackers gave up on
their former lifestyles.

For the companies and the government, everything was taking a turn for the best, until 1996. In
1996 Linus Horswald released Linux under the Open Source Act. He originally made it for a
calculator for his grandfather, but it advanced into much more. By the time he was done with
Yankee History Essay
Yankees History Throughout the Years Mikey Gaxiola Twin Falls,Idaho The Yankees have had
great history with multiple championships and world class players. From the 1900 to 1950 the
Yankees won 13 championships. The Yankees were know as the highlanders and their stadium was
known as hilltop park because it was constructed on one of the highest places in Manhattan. The
first game the yankees ever played in was on April 22 ,1903, they lost to Washington 0 3. According
to the MLB official website Pinstripes first appear on Highlanders uniforms, creating a look that
would become the most famous uniform design in sports. The Yankees purchase the greatest player

A Comparison of Blue Remembered Hills by Denis Potter and Hope and Glory produced by John
Boorman There are many significant similarities and differences between the two extracts I have
studied. A common similarity being the era they are set in; during the Second World War.
Although the two pieces of drama are set in the same time period, they offer a great contrast in
terms of their setting. Blue Remember Hills, set in 1943, is a naturalistic play situated in the
countryside. Whereas Hope and Glory very much displays the effects of war in towns and cities,
particularly the suburbs of London. In addition Blue Remember Hills follows the life of a gang of
children who are played by adult actors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my research I incorporate the evacuation of children during the Second World War. During the
Second World War many children were evacuated from the major towns and cities Main targets
for bombing) into the countryside which was considered to be a safer place. At first many
evacuees felt homesick and uncomfortable with their new surrounding but adapted quickly to
the open fields and freedom of the countryside. Many received good homes where they were well
cared for and provided with hearty meals. However this was not the case for all evacuees. A
minority of the evacuees were taken advantage of and used for domestic help around the house
and some were even abused. This applies to Donald Duck in Blue Remember Hills. However it is
clearly evident in characters such as easy going Willie, that the countryside takes away the
restrictions in the cities and provides an safe, open environment for a child imagination to wonder,
provides a good contrast to this as the film shows the dangers that the children face in their everyday
lives, even the games they play on things they collect refer to war. Various themes are used through
out the pieces, some of which include bullying, war, death, childhood innocence gangs, bullying and
the classification of gender. However Hope and Glory has the additional themes
Structural Functionalism And Gun Violence Essay
Structural functionalism sees as a positive function of society as a structure to contribute to the
whole (OpenStax, Introduction to Sociology 2e, p. 15). Through Structural functionalist macro level
perspective, guns can either maintain strength and order in the society. By having this kind of
protection or guns possession, it can delay the security and order by causing threat and violence. Gun
empowers individual which can be seen as an object of power. To keep citizens in their place,
authorities licensed guns to keep things in order. Gun control licenses can be given to individuals
who use a firearmas a sport or for hunting which brings people together for a common and love
sport or their hobbies.
One view that has become powerful talking points in the rise of gun crimes, especially during mass
shootings, is a result of cultural scripts. (Wierzbicka Goddard, 2004). These are the pattern of
interaction which is unique to a particular culture in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conflict theorists see them as evidence of inequality in the system (OpenStax, Introduction to
Sociology 2e, p. 140). This refers to the Marx s macro level approach which he believes that
inequalities of political power and social structure cause conflict (OpenStax, Introduction to
Sociology 2e, p. 16). Marx analyzes the societal conflict which he believes conflict as symptomatic
of sociological dysfunction and sign of bias and error within the nature and structure of the system.
Based on conflict theory, gun control would keep the people weak and unable to rebel against the
government when times comes. The government officials and policymakers have the power and
people must abide. Gun control also empowers the wrong individuals with weapons of mass
destructions that can endanger society. Gun control gives an opportunity to individuals to mass
acquire firearms and market them to anyone who can purchase firearms
