Large Vs. Small Republic
Essay #1, Question 2
Large vs. Small Republic America is an incredibly vast, diverse country, and has been this way for
hundreds of years. The sheer size of America, even when it was only composed of thirteen states
with a total population of nearly three million people (Brutus, essay 1, p. 64), concerned many
Americans in the 1780s, due to this inquiry: was America simply too large for a republican style
government to work? Many anti federalists claimed that republics could only work on a small scale,
while the federalists believed that having a large republic was the only way to go and would be
beneficial to the public good. Before this time, history furnished no examples of a well functioning
republic as big as America, so the federalists and anti federalists were stepping into a completely
new untouched territory. Of course, history did furnish examples of small republics. The Anti
federalists drew upon these, in order to show that there are extreme advantages of having a small
territory and population for popular government, which promoted their reasoning for wanting to
keep the main powers of government local at the state level. Brutus mentions an example of small
republics in his first essay, stating that the Greek and Roman republics were of small extent at first.
These republics were successful until they conquered more territory, which resulted in those
republics becoming the most tyrannical that ever existed in the world. (Brutus, essay 1 p. 63). The

How Did Jake Allex Enter Ww1
Jake Allex was a Serbian American soldier who served in World War 1. He was given the Medal
of Honor and The Croix de guerre twice. Allex went into WW1 as a sergeant. During battle in
1918, Allex found that all of the offices were dead or were too hurt to command. The group was
also under fire from the enemy. Allex led his group to a machine gun and they took it over. The
group fought off the Germans and captured the machine gun. Allex killed 5 Germans by himself.
Allex then used to butt of his rifle to overpower and take 15 German prisoners. Allex was awarded
the Medal of Honor and the Croix de guerre after the war. Charles D. Barger was a United States
Army soldier who served in World War 1. He received the Medal of Honor, which is

continents on Earth. We live in North America, while a Brazilian is from South America. These two
continents have more things in common than their names, yet they are two vastly different
continents. North America is a continent wholly within the Northern Hemisphere and almost wholly
within the Western Hemisphere.South America is a continent located in the Western Hemisphere,
mostly in the Southern Hemisphere, with a relatively small portion in the Northern Hemisphere.
North America is 9.54 million square miles in area while South America is just 6.88 million square

Paracetamol Solubility Research Paper
There are various factors relating to molecular structure that influence paracetamol solubility in
various co solvent systems. Dissolving a solute involves breaking intermolecular forces between
solvent molecules and forming intermolecular bonds between solvent and solute molecules. In part
this depends on the strength of solventintermolecular forces, which is reflected in the solvent s
viscosity. Of the co solvents, glycerol has the greatest viscosity and hence the strongest
intermolecular forces. Syrup is quite viscous, followed by propylene glycol then ethanol. This
would mean the ethanol would best be able to solvate paracetamol and mix with water, then
propylene glycol as shown in Figure 1, then syrup and finally glycerol. However from the results
obtained, glycerol is generally slightly better than syrup as a solvent for paracetamol. This may be
due to the cumulative effect of multiple hydroxyl groups present on each of the co solvent molecules
(see Appendix I).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each of the co solvents have hydroxyl groups that allow them to hydrogen bond with water,
accounting for their miscibility with water. To some extent the hydroxyl groups also allow the
solvents to hydrogen bond with the carbonyl and hydroxyl groups of paracetamol (Appendix I).
Because of the stable hydrophobic aromatic ring in paracetamol, it would better dissolve in more
non polar solvents. Thus ethanol, with only one polar hydroxyl group, is the most effective solvent.
Propylene glycol has two hydroxyl groups and glycerol has three, slightly reducing each solvent s
ability to dissolve paracetamol. Sucrose (syrup) has eight hydroxyl groups which may explain its
minute effect on improving paracetamol
Three Personal Goals
Zandria Drakeford Professor Alexander English 101 20 January 2015 Three Personal Goals I
Have at This Time As we are in a New Year, I have set many personal goals that I would like to
accomplish to become a better individual. I have always been a person who set goals, whether
they are long term or short term, I always have them. I like to set goals for myself because goals
give me guidance throughout life. Now that a new year has approached, I am focusing on three
main goals that I would like to achieve at this time. Those three goals include managing my time
better, to keep maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and to continue to remain focus this upcoming
semester. Managing my time better is one of my personal goals at this time because time
management has always been a challenge for me. I would like to manage more of my time in
studying especially because I tend to get distracted easily. If I applied myself more in studying than
I could definitely accomplish more and have a better understanding of the material. Trying to
balance a social life and schoolwork is another issue, where I could manage my time differently. I
find myself wanting to socialize with family and friends more than applying myself to my
schoolwork and that sometimes interfere with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have this as a personal goal because in my past years I have not always been the healthiest
person. I did not care how much I ate, or watch my calorie intake, and definitely did not exercise.
However, this past year I have transition over to having a healthy lifestyle: I enrolled in my local
gym, ate healthier foods, and watched my calorie intake per day. Deciding to live a healthier
lifestyle has changed my life because I have gain more self confidence and have a positive
reflection of myself. Therefore, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is one of my personal goals I have at
this time because it has brought positive results in my
There Are Many Undeveloped Countries In The World, Many
There are many undeveloped countries in the world, many of which are struggling to become
developed. They have many things at their disadvantage such as powerful companies creating
monopolies in their country, developed countries outsourcing labor into these poor countries and
paying very little, overpopulation, under education, poverty, and a strongly patriarchal society.
Some countries may have one of these problems, a few, or many of them but it is still a factor
prohibiting them from developing. For example, one of these restricting forces is a strongly
patriarchal society which may keep countries from developing is not educating the women and or
letting them work. If you were to let the woman work or be educated you d have another... Show

And from these problems sprout much more causes of underdevelopment such as overpopulation,
under education, poverty, and cultural norms such a strong patriarchal view. But many of these
problems mainly sprout from cultural norms such as strong patriarchal views because if there was
social equality then there would most likely not be overpopulation, undereducated, and poverty. This
is because if for example, women were to be educated they would be more educated about sex and
contraceptives and know not to have so many children(unicef). It is known that in a developed
country most women are not even having children because they are educated and work as well as
seen in Singapore. But this is not the case in places like India and many countries in Africa like
Ethiopia and Somalia. In these countries, women have so many children because in their
countries men are the ones with the say in everything so most women bear children until they
have a boy. But by the time these women get there they have had on average five or more
children. This is done so that if the first son born dies they have a spare to be the head of the house
after the father. But since these women have so many children they cannot do anything else except
care for them such as by cooking and cleaning things for them. So because of this, they are not able
to seek jobs besides the fact that men do not let them and there is social discrimination against that
too. If these women were educated they would know about
Aristotle s Poetic In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe
Aristotle was a famous disciple of Plato who first defines fine arts and he differs with his teacher
Plato in his book of Poetic. His Poetic deals with the principles of Poetic art in general and tragedy in
particular on the basis of his analysis and the principles of his Poetic are Probability, Catharsis,
Mimesis, Tragic Hero and Hamartia. This essay will explain tragedylooking through Aristotle s tragic
principles in the book Things fall Apartby Chinua Achebe. In Aristotle s Poetic, he has mentioned the
concept of Probability which simply explains the probability that a given character will react to a
given situation is very high because of human nature. For instance in the book, Things fall Apart

In his poetic, a tragic hero cannot be an eminently good man. The suffering of such a man will be
shocking. The tragic hero neither can be a bad man nor a villain. According to Aristotle, The
tragic hero is a man who is not eminently good and just, yet whose misfortune is bought about not
by voice, but by the some error of judgement (Aristotle, 1978). The misfortune of such a man will
lead to downfall. In Things fall Apart, the main protagonist Okonkwo is considered as tragic hero
and he has the all the noble characters. Oknokwo was very successful and renowned in his

Analysis Of Emily Gilmore s The Matriarch Of The...
Case History Emily Gilmore, born in 1942, is the matriarch of the complex Gilmore family. She
attended Smith College and majored in history before meeting her husband, Richard at a Yale
party. A little while after she and Richard got married, they had their only daughter, Lorelai
Gilmore. Emily is a long standing member of Connecticut high society. She is an active member
of the Hartford DAR chapter, hosts work events on a weekly basis for her husband, and
volunteers her time and money very often. Emily goes through maids like a normal person
changes clothes. She has had maids from all over the world, but none of them last very long.
Emily is too particular about the state of her house for any maid to please her; this is why she
pays the most of all her friends. She is very controlling of her environment and always feels as if
she is the most important person in the room. Although she interacts with people every day, Emily
Gilmore doesn t have many people she is close to. Before his retirement, Richard was often out of
town with his insurance business. Now, they spend more time with each other. Lorelai left home
after having her daughter, Rory, at age sixteen to get away from her controlling mother. Since
Lorelai, and Rory have left, Emily s relationship with her daughter has not been the healthiest. Emily
saw her daughter and granddaughter only Christmas and Easter. This changed when Rory was
accepted into Chilton Preparatory School. The tuition was too much for Lorelai

The Landscape Design Of The Backyard
During the deck s construction, I worked on my sketches and different versions of the landscape
design of the backyard. To get ideas about the plants I could use in my design, I visited a local
nursery in Dana Hills, called R M Pool, Patio, and Gardens. I was not sure what I would find
inside, but I was delighted to discover they had a lovely variety of plants, and all of them were
Clayton weather friendly. R M has been located in Clayton since 1983, and they specialize in pool
sales, pool installations, outdoor furniture, outdoor decor, and nursery plants. The business is family
owned, and I was lucky enough to tour the nursery with the owner, Melanie. When she approached
me, she asked what specific plants I was looking for, but all I... Show more content on

At first I attempted to copy all of this information into my notebook, including the plant details
and those long scientific names, but I realized not long after that taking pictures would be much
quicker and more helpful later on. Having clear pictures of the plants and their details was also a
good idea so I could show them to my client. I had to remind myself that I was given a smaller
budget for the yard, and in fact my client hadn t even originally planned re landscaping to be a
part of her backyard remodel. My original project was to create a design, not go out and build
everything to the fullest, but she had told me if I designed something and she liked it, we would
build it. I returned to my drawing pad with new ideas in my head. I couldn t forget the look of the
soft fountains of thin grass that seemed to come in so many varieties. While taking photos at the
nursery, I imagined up design features such as planter boxes, clean slate stepping stones, grass
puffs neatly lining the deck along the edges, and soft yellow lighting to illuminate key areas of
the garden in the evening. I browsed Google Images and found the idea to use gravel to create a
desert look. I used the plants available at the local nursery as a base for my research about the best
plants to use for the desert like landscape design. Immediately the grasses I knew I wanted to include

Independent Single Mothers
Single mothers are usually portrayed in film and television programs as being weak and needing
something to be dependent, usually on a man. Five single mothers in the film The Single Moms
Club come together to support each other in areas that are their strong suit. These women in this
film do carry the gender roles that are put on women, as well as break many of the gender roles. I
will be focusing on three out of the five women in this film. These three women all share the same
gender role theme of being a caregiver. Each of these women have their own stories, different

that the film made was $15, 973,881 and foreign it made $364,000 which makes the grand total of
the profit from the film being $16,337,881(Tyler Perry s The Single Moms Club). The movie was
removed from theater May 1, 2014. The film was nominated in the Golden Trailer Awards in 2014
for having the best teaser poster and the best romance poster (The Single Moms Club).
In this film there is no main character, all these women are followed in the film equally. First, we
have Jan who is played by Wendi McLendon Covey. Most known her from the hilarious film
Bridesmaid. Jan is a driven women working at a publishing firm who is trying to make partner as
well as raise her very opinionated 12 year old daughter. Jan made the decision to have a child
through using a sperm donor. Secondly we have Lytia, who is played by Cocoa Brown, she has 5

Dynamic Characters In The Call Of The Wild
When reading a novel, there are going to be characters that are either static or dynamic. Static
characters stay the same throughout the entire book like brustle sprouts stay on a plate in a room
full of children. Dynamic characters are the exact opposite; they are always changing in unique
ways that are sometimes better or at other times worse than earlier in the story. In The Call of the
Wild, by Jack London, the main characterBuck is without a doubt, a dynamic character. As the story
progresses, he is constantly evolving into a new dog.
Before Buck began to transform, he lived at Judge Millers house. Here he was the ruler of his
domain as Buck so kindly put it. Along with that he was king. By always escorting the kids in the

On a train, he faced a man in a red sweater with a club in hand. Instinctively, Buck charged with
fury and was beat into submission. A lesson was learned (although after a long time) that man
were the people in charge. The next event that took place was when Buck was sold to two men
named Francois and Perrault. Quickly he learned (unlike the train) that he best keep his act
together unless he wanted to meet with another club. Many differences occurred in Buck: he was
dependent and independent, learned at an incredible speed, got bigger and stronger, adapted to
the environment, and became aware of more. How can he be both dependent and independent?
Well, Buck depended on Francois and Perrault for food and necessities; but was extremely
independent due to the fact that he had to teach himself when he did something wrong since all
he got was a bite to the hind quarters to shape up. Most scenarios it was vital that Buck learned
quickly if he didn t want to be hit. Luckily, Buck was good at it, whenever he made a mistake he
worked incredibly hard to make it better and almost never had to be told twice about what to do.
Obviously Buck had to have gotten huge and fast considering he was pulling a sled pretty much
nonstop except at night. Adapting took a bit longer. Because of the harsh environmental grounds,
he had to wear boots since his paws were soft and couldn t take it in until they were padded
enough after the boots were so worn down. Not only did he change in his physical being and
character traits, but also when it came to his mental understanding. Buck gained awareness and
street smarts. So, his five senses kicked in and he became almost like a super dog and could always
tell if something bad or good was going to
