Monteverdi As An Epic Poem Analysis
Composing an opera seems like a daunting task, now imagine trying to take an Epic Poem and
make it into an opera, it seems almost like an ultimate challenge; a challenge only few would take
on. One of the most famous composers who took on this challenge was Claudio Giovanni Antonio
Monteverdi famously known only as Monteverdi, was one of the greatest composers of his time
and he was able to bring classical Greek Epic Poems to life. Even though Monteverdi was one of the
greatest composers of his times it must have been very daunting challenge to take a story that had
been only really heard and written down almost from interpretation from the Greeks and turn it into
an Italian Opera. Another challenge he may have faced was condensing the long Epic Poem so that
the audience could sit through the opera and still get the most important points of the Epic Poem.
One of biggest problems Monteverdi must have encountered was when he first began to compose
the story of Ulysses there was the challenge that it was in a completely different language. Homer
wrote the Odysseyin Greek and Monteverdi was Italian, to add to this the Greek Homer wrote the
story in was completely different from the Greek that the native people spoke. Even though the
Odyssey was already being translated, no one really knew how to translate Greek; it had been a
langue that basically disappeared for some time. This could have mean that some of the story
could have literally been lost in translation, or the Italian scholars could have added even some
parts of the story accidently due to misinterpretation. Monteverdi being one the greatest
composers would have had to study the story of Ulysses and known the story thoroughly no
matter what translation he may have read or heard. Knowing the plot of the story he would then
have to match musical pieces to each of the characters, and there were many characters in this
Epic Poem, who were fundamental to this opera even more difficult to compose. Not only did
Monteverdi have to face a language barrier but also, he then had to keep in mind each character
Homer wrote about. Homer incorporated many people into the Odyssey, including characters from
his past works as well as the gods as they played a

After School Programs Essay
Daniel Parra Mrs. Padgett English IV, Period 2 7 December 2010 After School Programs The
impact that after school programs have on young children affects every aspect of their lives.
Although some may feel after school programs are a waste of time and money, it has been proven
that they improve children s social and academic skills. Without these special designed programs,
children may not be able to develop into the kinds of adults which will benefit society in the future.
It is important that society understand the importance of after school programs. To cut back on after
school programs to better the economy is only taking away from the children and opening new
doors to them, which can ultimately lead them to jail or possibly... Show more content on

Learning how to communicate is often overlooked but its an essential skill for anyone. An
example of how important this truly is would be a job interview. Everyone at some point will
have to interview for a job to support themselves and their family. At most interviews, employers
are looking for people who seem to communicate well with others and can present themselves by
communicating their attributes. These communications skills that are necessary aren t easy to
come by. Although one may think it would be easy, many people wont be able to successfully
land a job because of communication. One person may be the most qualified, but if you can not
communicate well then it will not matter. After school programs can also socially benefit a child.
Programs are often designed to teach a child how to be a leader as well as a team player.
Throughout one s life there will be situations where one will need to work in a group as well as
lead a group of people. After school programs involving sports, really hone in on a child s ability
to behave and interact in a group environment. The participants must work together in order to
achieve a common goal which is to ultimately win. In doing so, they must interact and communicate
in a way which will be most beneficial for the entire group. This occurs not only in sports but in
everyday life. At a job, one may have to work with others to
Equiano s Contributions To Abolish Slavery
According to Digital History, most of slaves in Africans were enslaves by other Africans 1. It was
also true because of the real observations and experiences that Equiano had and felt. Therefore, he
was one of the rare survivals that could show us his emotion and the true story of what had
happened to him. The Interesting Narrative constructs an appeal to its readers to abolish slaveryby
showing his different life at these moments, and I think it was the most effective strategy because it
shows Equiano s life before, during and after the time he was enslaved. That will also show his
perspective and emotion that touch readers heart and make them sink into deep thought.
Before being enslaved, he had a beautiful life and was an observer
What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Intermodal...
Intermodal steel shipping containers have been put to use for various things when they no longer
cross the high seas. Generally retired shipping containers are used as storage containers or are turn
into building construction site mobile offices. A current trend gaining strength in the architectural
community is transforming steel intermodal containers into the basis for homes and light business
construction applications.
Fortunes of a construction development using an innovative approach are influenced by the research
done at the front end of the project. Here we will take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of
implementing shipping containers as part of your building.

The intermodals will examine containers and condemn them if broken welds, twisted frames, or pin
holes are identified. For use in construction, some issues could be less significant than others.
Handling
The size and weight of the containers will require them to be placed by the crane or forklift.
Traditional brick block and lumber construction materials are commonly moved by hand
Chemicals
A container can hold a wide variety of freight while in its working life. Spills or contamination might
have happened on the inside surfaces and will have to be cleaned before habitation. Ideally, the paint
on every internal surface should be removed to bare metal and re painted with a non toxic paint
product. In addition, chemicals released from paint and sealants used in manufacture of the shipping
container might be harmful.
Temperature Humidity Extremes
Steel is a conductor of heat. Containers used for human occupancy in an area with extreme
temperature variations will need to be better insulated than most brick, block or wood structures. In
temperate climates, moist interior air condenses against the steel; rust will form unless the steel is
well sealed and insulated.

Leadership As A Fundamental Learning Tool
Leadership Project Movies identified to the topic of leadership serve as a fundamental learning tool.
When conducting this leadership project the following movies were used: Patch Adams, A Few
Good Men, The Lion King, and The Social Network. After watching the movies each one was
thoroughly analyzed on the type of leadershipstyle portrayed in the film. Many movies contain
characters that exhibit leadership qualities or circumstances that provide insights and can help you
explore some excellent examples of leadership. Based on a true story of Hunter Patch Adams, the
founder of the Gesundheit Clinic, a facility which manages their patients with pathos and humor.
The film begins with Patch admitting himself as a patient in a mental hospital. While there, he
discovered he loved helping the patients and observed the staff to be emotionless and would separate
themselves from the patients. Vowing to change things, he discharges himself from the facility and
went to the Virginia Medical College. His untraditional approaches cast him up against numerous of
the doctors and deans of the college, in spite of him getting some of the highest grades in his class.
Recognizing that numerous underprivileged individuals were not being treated fairly, as a student he
started the Gesundheit Clinic to help the individuals who were not getting appropriate treatment at
the hospital. In any case, this brought him up before the Medical Review Board for practicing
without a license. Patch is
Basel Norms
Evolution of Basel Norms and their contribution to the Subprime Crisis
The article highlights the emergence of the Basel Accord in 1998 and how it has evolved over the
course of the last 23 years. Contrary to the popular belief capital regulations have been considered
the biggest underlying factor of the subprime crisis owing to securitization, the shadow banking
system and the flexibility given to banks in risk assessment. The recent Basel III norms though aim
to mitigate the already caused damage, the results are still left to be witnessed.

The Basel Capital Accord (Basel I) was adopted in 1988, and had two main objectives; * Strengthen
the soundness and the stability of the international banking system minimum capital adequacy ratio
by assessing the credit risk of the banks * Create a level playing field among international banks
Banks from different countries competing for the same loans would have to set aside roughly the
same amount of capital on the loans
Fallout of Basel I and emergence of Basel II
Basel I set the platform for maintaining the adequate capital cushion required by the banks in the
event of a default or grim situations. However the adequate capital (Tier I amp; Tier II) to be
maintained was solely based on the credit risk (on balance sheet, trading off balance sheet, non
trading balance sheet) assessment which was divided into 4 categories of Government Exposures
with OECD countries 0%, OECD banks and non OECD governments 20%, Mortgages 50%, Other
Exposures, retail and wholesale(SMEs) 100%
Though the main aim of formulating the Basel Norms was to ensure the optimal capital cushion to
be maintained required in the event of a crisis, the very introduction of Basel Accord, increased the
gap between economical and risk based capital and gave rise to regulatory capital arbitrage (RCB).

Full Range Leadership Development Paper
All the concepts in module 3 opened my eyes to the way I am and how I see myself as a leader,
thinker, and conflict manager. However, the concept that I really focused on was the Full Range
Leadership Development portion of module 3. I am going to discuss why this was the most
valuable concept to me and how I plan to apply it as soon as possible. Let us move forward and first
talk about why this concept was the most important to me. There are three elements in the leadership
system: leader, follower, and situation. The course 15 material defines a leader as, someone who
influences other to achieve a goal. It defines a follower as someone who chooses to follow a leader
because of the leader s character, abilities, and vision. The course... Show more content on

My highest score was in the individual consideration transformational leadership Four I s portion.
After listening to my class today and learning about everybody s particular leadership behaviors,
and how they all could help you become a better leader, I realized that you need a little portion
from each. This is excluding the laissez fair leadership. I feel that you should pull a little from
each behavior depending on the situation. I am a very confident, but hard headed person, so I
really need to work on moving between all leadership behaviors. There is no better time to apply
these behaviors than in my current situation as flight leader. I am going to start looking at
leadership as a whole system, and try to make sure that I apply a little of each leadership
transformational behaviors and transactional behaviors to fit the situation. This way I can help
others the best that I possibly can, and hopefully help them become not only better followers but
better leaders as well. It will also allow me to learn how to be a better follower and leader because
we have such a diverse group of leadership in the class that I can learn so much just from the
different situations we will be in. Knowing when to apply these behaviors will be challenging, but I
am up for it and can t wait to see how I change as a leader by the end of
Mean Girls Analysis
Mean Girls Analysis Mean Girls, a popular comedic film, is about high school drama in its highest
form wanting to be popular. It mainly follows a girl named Cady, a new student looking to make
and please friends. She agrees to spy on one of her new friends enemies, Regina George, to help
destroy her life. However, along the way, Cady finds herself becoming more and more like
Regina George and the rest of the plastics or the mean girls. In this paper, there s going to be an
analysis of this film, because there seems to be a deeper meaning than just the comedic shell. And
while this is a favorite movie of many teenage girls because of its relatable humor regarding
popularity and girl on girl drama, like name calling and backstabbing, it also sheds light on the
subject of bullying, including peer pressure, and how it really can affect someone s life in a very
negative manner. Regina George is the main girl of the plastics . She will do anything and
everything to stay on top, including selling her friends out just to make them look bad. You may
have known someone like this in high school, but why are they like this, you might ask? The
movie does a good job about making the subject humorous, but it seems as if it s also trying to
prove a point and bring awareness to young girls who watch the film, without necessarily being too
serious. There are also many examples of power, peer pressure, and bullying in this movie, which
are all looming issues in today s schools. Cady
Essay On Aromatize Coffee
How to aromatize your coffee. Ideas to vary the flavors in your cup
As I said a few months ago, I am passionate about coffee , both when it comes to tasting it and
knowing different varieties and experimenting with recipes and uses in the kitchen. So when a
reader asked how I could make her own cinnamon coffee, I dedicated myself to investigate a little
on the subject of giving a special flavor to this drink. And the truth is that there are many ways we
can aromatize our coffee .
My favorite way to enjoy coffee is a good cup of espresso made properly, with good freshly ground
natural grains, quality water and respecting the right temperatures, without too much sweetening.
But from time to time I like to try other options, and add special aromas depending on the day. My
favorites are those that provide spices like cinnamon or nutmeg, and there are several ways we can
integrate them into the coffee. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They can be added to the freshly made, very hot drink, letting them infuse and then removing them,
or simply sprinkling some ground spice on top, although many people do not like to stain the coffee
surface.
Then another option is to aromatize the moment to sweeten the drink . Different sweeteners provide
different shades, for example using cane syrup or maple syrup, which give a very interesting roasted
touch. We can also use vanilla sugar, either homemade or commercial, which is usually used in
confectionery.
Instead of adding sugar to the cup, we can prepare a syrup to the taste with which to soften the
bitterness of the coffee. The easiest way to make homemade syrup is to heat the same volume of
water as sugar until it dissolves, so if we add a vanilla pod, cinnamon stick or another ingredient,
once it has cooled down and we stick it A flavored sweetener. It can be stored in an airtight
container in the refrigerator for several days.

You Screwy Rabbit Compare And Contrast
Aw! You screwy rabbit, said Elmer Fudd from Looney Tunes. I am similar to Elmer Fudd from
my childhood, because I do what he does. First, Elmer and I have a lot in common we both act
like each other. Second, both of us like many thing of a rabbit. Last, Elmer is very persistent, and
he never gives up, I am the same way. We have a lot in common. First of all, Elmer is just exactly
like me in every way possible. He is kind of dumb like me he also does not think before he does
something like, he trips over his feet a lot trying to catch that rabbit. Another thing we got in
common is he gets mad easy like if Buggs Bunny is messing with him and telling him to shoot him
that gets him mad the most. Also when he shoots BOOM! POW! He misses the rabbit and the
rabbit acts like he got shot but he did not kill it. After all, that is a few of the many reasons why

miss. All in all, we both enjoy hunting rabbits so very
The Crime Coefficient Of The Correctional Facility
From the moment they were born, all humans were categorised into either regular people or latent
criminals. This was all judged by a person s crime coefficient a number between zero and five
hundred which determined the likelihood of one committing a crime. This was usually calculated
based on emotion, but some were unfairly born with crimecoefficients above or dangerously close
to one hundred which was the cut off mark as far as The System was concerned. The System placed
latent criminals into The Correctional Facility where potential burdens to society were either given
therapy or handed to the police department as hunting dogs if they scored enough on several aptitude
tests taken at some point in their lives. Lev s father, an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That doubt was exactly what drove Lev towards The Correctional Facility in the first place. He d
have been called a madman if he told anyone else, so he decided to go alone to clarify something
that could unravel the whole System. After witnessing his partner getting slaughtered during an
investigation, his father s crime coefficient shot up due to distress and he was instantly carted off to
The Correctional Facility. But there was no explanation as to what they were going to do. No
mention of therapy, no mention of his father being demoted to a mere enforcer, no nothing. In fact,
the only reason Lev knew his father was taken to The Correctional Facility in the first place was
because he happened to have very limited access to documents concerning inhabitants of the building
thanks to his job.
Lev was running out of time and he knew it. The tranquilliser he shot at the man preciously using
the main office s computer would only last for a limited time. He had more darts which he was
more than willing to use if it could bring him closer to finding out the truth about his father, but they
d just make it easier to detain him. God only knew what they d do... Lev rummaged through folder
after folder on the computer, cursing and slamming his fist down on the keyboard upon finding his
search attempts to be fruitless. After going through such a struggle to enter the accursed building in
the first place, he
