Success of Al Jazeera English in Pakistan s Media
Despite Pakistan s opposition at the time, a 2008 survey was taken on Pakistani media preference
and provided a belief that Al Jazeera English would find success with the country. Surprisingly,
news stations were watched more frequently and on a regular basis over entertainment channels
and networks. Pakistan is known for a high volume of individuals and families that are wealthy,
educated, and urban. This demographic has been proven to be more likely to watch the news. It
was also found that rural and low income Pakistanis also chose satellite television over state run
media. On top of that, 70 percent of Pakistan s general population have access to satellite in their
residences, paving a clear way for Al Jazeeras success in this particular area of the world.

This day and age, there are a large number of networks covering world news. From Al Jazeera to
CNN, there is a variety to pick and choose from. Though similar in the topics the networks cover,
discuss, and air, they all have a different approach in presentation. Al Jazeera English s website
covered The Park 51 Mosque Controversy. It has also been referred to as the Ground Zero
Mosque . There was a proposal to build an Islamic center, on 51 Park Place, costing near $100
million. It was to be located in Manhattan, New York. This became a national and global
controversy regarding the September 11th terrorist attack. Some Sept. 11 victims families and others

An Article Of School Based Social Work Interventions
Reviews in an article of School based Social Work Interventions, shows that Social Workers have
become increasingly involved in administering interventions to reveal promising empirical support
with a variety of outcomes and populations (2013, p.252 263). The article discusses the need for
employed Social Workers to be actively present within school systems is crucial; to assure children
receive proper diagnosis, especially those dealing trauma or environmental issues. The use of school
Social Workers could defeat the alternative of possibly misdiagnosing, and/or the chance of over

Barusch (2014) discusses how today s social problems, are a reflection of the background and
issues that once affected the education of children in the United States, back when girls were
excluded from schools, but boys of various ages and classes were allowed to participate (2014, p,343

Barusch (2014) says that the more developed events not long after in 1912. Events such as, the
establishment of the U.S. Children s Bureau, which is now affiliated with the Department of Health

reauthorization of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act of 1974 (CAPTA). CAPTA

The Heroic Code In The Illiad And The Odyssey
The Illiad and The Odyssey are poems written by Homer, both poems discuss the idea surrounding
the heroic code. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a hero is defined as a person who is
admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Specifically, if an
individual partakes in acts that can cause harm or even death. The heroic code of Illiad in the
aforementioned poems is defined as a set of principles administering the conduct of the homeric
heroes. The aim of every hero is to achieve honor, it is essential if one wants to be a hero.
Throughout both poems, multiple characters assume the role of the hero. As both poems progress,
readers learn that honor is a fundamental aspect of the heroic code. The development of each
character shows that without their sense of pride and honor, life is not worth living. Essentially
meaning they would rather live and die with honor rather than live without it. The theme of
individual respect is common all throughout The Odysseyand The Illiad; the honor of each individual
in homeric culture is imperative, and to the hero, the concept of honor is a vital aspect to his
character.
Throughout The Odyssey and The Illiad, heroes use the heroic code as an influence when making
their decisions throughout the story. Homer intertwines the events that occur in both poems, with his
ideas of the heroic code to demonstrate how each heroic character develops throughout the story.
Homer pays close attention to each character s perception of the code, as the perception is different
in each character. In book ten of The Odyssey, Odysseus demonstrates his heroic nature when
Circe transformed his men into pigs. As a result, Odysseus confronted her. I drew my sharpened
sword and in one bound held it against her throat (Homer 10, lines 54 55). Odysseus is not
reluctant to confront people with control like Circe s to ensure his men. He knew about Circe s
mysterious capacities, yet he chose that sparing his men be worth taking a chance with her
fierceness. In this circumstance, Odysseus bravery enabled him to spare his men from Circe and
demonstrate his heroism. This relates to my overall argument because he puts the respect of his men
before his own by
Hester Prynne Rebellion Quotes
Summer Reading Essay
Hester Prynne of Nathanial Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter defies the Puritan belief system through
her rebellion and compassion. Hester defies the Puritan belief system through her rebellion. Hester
Prynne, while in Boston waiting for her husband to come from Amsterdam, commits the crime of
adultery and gives birth to a child, causing her to be punished. Hawthorne describes her crime in
dialogue between Hester s husband, who has just arrived in Boston and is unaware of Hester s
circumstances, and a towns member who infers as to what she has done and how much of an uproar
it has caused, during her public punishment, in the government forces her to stand on a scaffold for
three hours and condemned to wear an A on her chest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This page describing her crime shows how Hester defies the Puritan belief system through rebellion
because the crime of adultery is a serious sin in their religion, showing that she purposely disobeys
the laws of their religion by having an affair. Hester Prynne also defies the Puritan belief system
through the scene where she immerges from the jail cell and is seen in public with her wedlock
child for the first time. Hawthorne describes the manner in which she immerges from the jail and
how the town reacts, in the quote Those who had before known her, and had expected to behold her
dimmed and obscured by a disastrous cloud, were astonished, and even startled, to perceive how her
beauty shone out, and made a halo of the misfortune and ignominy in which she had enveloped (46).
This quote shows Hester s rebellion against the Puritan beliefs because, due to how serious her crime
is seen in the Puritan community, the town members had expected her to show sorrow, shame, and
weakness as she walked from the jail cell. But, instead she walks out with her head held high,
ignoring their judgment, showing no shame and in the crime she committed, and disregarding the
mannerisms the Puritan s expected of her. Along with her rebellion, Hester Prynne defies the Puritan
belief system
Spartacus Film Analysis
The primary analysis will come from identifying the main key points in Spartacus s history in the
Third Servile War. Furthermore, if the main key points do not align, then how much of an impact
did it have on film. If the key points do with historical data, then was the portrayal of each scene
accurate in terms of how it happened in history. For a film to thrive, directors usually must add
Hollywood flair, which in most cases, could make or break a film. The first thing that will be
analyzed is the background of Spartacus.
Spartacus, a fearsome gladiator and general in the war against slavery in Rome, was portrayed as
a born slave that was eventually bought after having a squabble with a Roman soldier during
slave labor. According to Appian, a Roman historian in 2nd century A.D., At the same time
Spartacus, a Thracian by birth, who had once served as a soldier with the Romans, but had since
been a prisoner and sold for a gladiator, and was in the gladiatorial training school at Capua, ...
(217). This shows that Kubrick omitted such an important detail regarding Spartacus s past.
Kubrick most likely wanted to portray an underdog story for Spartacus. However, there were
many ways that Kubrick could have written this part of the story. He could have stuck to the
details and portrayed this film as an act of revenge against Rome for treating him improperly or
show a rebirth of Spartacus and his way out of Rome leading a whole army. Instead, he chooses to
omit Spartacus s past,
The Importance Of Attacks In America
Almost all military personnel had been recalled from bases around the world to assist in domestic
relief efforts. Entire cities up and down both coasts had been wiped off the map. I was stationed at
a refugee center near Dallas when Black announced his candidacy for President. I was at another
refugee center, on the outskirts of what used to be Los Angeles, two years later when he declared
martial law and announced mandatory chip identification for all residents after a terrorist attack and
an assassination attempt. I was no idiot and, given the sequence of events, there were plenty of
clapboards hailing Black as the Antichrist. Of course, he doubtlessly was. Everybody with half a
brain at least suspected it. But when he made pacts with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All over the world, economies were crashing. Power was being consolidated among the few
remaining large powers. The Middle East was still famous for its terror and strife, and Joshua
Black, at some point, decided to revisit the old plan of putting an end to it once and for all.
Unfortunately, this time there was no coalition. This time it was the U.S., China, and Russia
squaring off in the desert trying to take control and keep control before any of the others could
act. I was on the other side of the world, too old to participate in combat, but in a guard post
somewhere near Denver when Armageddon began. It was a no holds barred fight. All the major
players hit one another with everything they had, and everything they had worked well. The
devastation was complete. Several cities across the globe were bombed either conventional or
nuclear, nobody knew for sure. By the end of it, well nigh all life and material objects alike on the
Eastern hemisphere had turned to ash. We also, suffered the fallout on the west side; the sky got
dark, the air became frigid, winds howled day and night. Everyone acknowledged it to be the end
of the world. By now, nobody not even the most passionate non believer could deny what had just
occurred. But there was nothing to do for it, except to keep on moving. The pitiful number of us left
became fewer still. Some wandered off into the dark gloom, others
How Does Peekay Change
Throughout the novel The Power of One , the main character, Peekay, has been exposed to all
walks of mankind, gifting him experiences that not every South African boy would be able to
have. With these experiences come changes that are unexpected due to his exposure to events and
unique opinions of those he s met along his journey. The different people he s met have all
changed his views on religion, trust, and violence in their own ways, which have helped shape
Peekay into the tenacious young boy he is. Out of all the people Peekay has met, each has affected
his views on religion. After Nanny was fired, his views on Christianity were drastically changed. On

Back in chapter four, Peekay first is introduced to one of the most important characters in the novel,
Hoppie. He earns this title because he is the one who introduces the art of boxing to Peekay.
Boxing is the greatest sport in the world....The art of self defense is the greatest art of all, and
boxing is the greatest art of self defense. Take me, a natural welterweight, there isn t any man I
have to be afraid of....I m fast and I can hit hard in a street fight a little bloke like me can take on
any big gorilla (67). Here, Hoppie is telling Peekay that even if he is small and underestimated, he
can overcome and win against anyone he wants. In response, Peekay asks if he could beat
someone the size of the Judge. A little kid like me and a big kid, big as this? .... Who do you want
to fight, hey? What big kid gave you a bad time? .... I m telling you, man, nobody hurts a friend of
mine .... Just some boys at school, I replied, delighted that even though this was the wrong place
and time, I now had someone strong in the world who was on my side (67). Peekay is now over
the moon that he has the capability to use violence to beat the judge, as brutal as the judge
tortured him. Hoppie s advice did play a role in what eventually happened to the Judge. Years later,
the Judge and Peekay saw each other in a bar and Peekay finally used Hoppie s advice to use his size
to his advantage. First
Pros And Cons Of Dystopian Novels
A perfect society, where nothing bad ever happens, and within the blink of an eye and one false
move, it all collapses. This type of novel is called a Dystopian, or bad place in Greek. The premise
is to have what seems like a perfect society, but because of the rules that make it perfect, it all falls
into chaos. Some such stories are The Hunger Games , and The Time Machine , because there is a
set of rules that make it perfect, but because of that, it is terrible, like in The Hunger Games , where
each district has to send 2 people to fight to the death, it makes the Utopiainto a Dystopia. Dystopian
novels usually directly parallel an event or series of events that happened in real life, or what they
believe what will happen if certain events continue to happen. Dystopian novels might impact the
future, be it positively or negatively.

Say, for instance, if someone were to write a novel about America, they could write about how the
presidents were elected, but if someone else were elected, how it could all be gone in an ... Show

A novel can be written just for fun, or to point out flaws in society. The article Some one may be
Watching An introduction to Dystopian Fiction says that dystopian novels are like Fun house mirror
that embiggen parts of yourself to make them noticeable. Interpreting a novel s true meaning can be
difficult, but it can be achieved. People can all view a novel differently, but the outcome all comes
from what they decide to do with their standing point and how they try to change the future.
Dystopian novels are great works of literature, and they should continue to be written, but maybe

Negative Effects Of Celebrity Life
Imagine living the life where every step and move you take are controlled by the world. Some
people lead their lives where they are watched around the entire world, which means that, all actions
that these individuals took are judged by society and communities. People around the world are
expecting excellent result and perfect decision from these people. Well, this is how celebrities lives
are and their expectation. They do all they can to stay on top and to make differences in their
everyday lives. Most of the time the world has the mindset that being a celebrityis all about happiness
and wealth. However, there may come time of rejoicing as well as sadness.Celebrity life has
negatives effects in people s lives in numerous ways and those who choose to become celebrities
they should be aware of these effects before they choose this fuel.
Additionally, celebrities do not have private life. Every step and action they take are watched.
Apparently, when one is a celebrity his or her life is not theirs any more. One may go through
difficulties situations in life, no matter how hard the person can pretend to not share his or her
problems; it will be still known in public. For example, Moise Mbiye, one of the Gospel musician
in Africa is now in 35 years of age, he does not want to get married but, his religious churches who
have power in the state oblige him to marry. They told him that if he decided not to marry, is going
to lose his privileges and they will stop selling
