Four Parenting Styles Research Paper
Four main parenting styles have been identified based on the levels of two variables, responsiveness
and demandingness. Responsiveness is the degree to which a parent is sensitive to their child s
desires and the degree to which they demonstrate warmth and affection toward the child.
Demandingness is the degree to which the parentlays out the rules and the degree to which they
expect the child to respond to their demands. The four main parentingstyles are authoritarian,
authoritative, permissive and uninvolved/disengaged. This essay will discuss the differences
between the four main parenting styles, and then apply them to a situation of a 13 year old boy,
Michael, wanting to rent an M rated video game.
First, a parent with an authoritarian parenting style would be high in demandingness and low in
responsiveness. An authoritarian parent would expect the child to follow their rules without any
explanation. They would not show a lot of outward warmth for the child when they were being told
to do something, but would emphasize obedience. If Michael s parents had an authoritarian
parenting style, they would demand that Michael not rent the M rated video game. They would not
give an explanation as to why, but they would expect that Michael obey. ... Show more content on

Dance In Contemporary Dance
Contemporary dance techniques
There is a lot of confusion when you are asking about the contemporary dance as a lot of people
even the dancers don t know what the actual dance form is. Actually, the dance form changes from
time to time so it is not easy to adapt as you have to change with time. Every now and then there are
new experiments and discoveries in the field of contemporary dance. A lot of people and schools are
there who claim to have expertise on the contemporary dance but they usually teach other forms of
dance like ballroom, salsa or some jazz styles. So it is not about the dancing style but shape you re
in while your movement in dancing which indicates a proper technique of contemporary dance.
So in the training, the focus must be on the positions and shape rather than the styles while
attending the classes to learn the contemporary style of dancing. Every lesson will surprise you as
it will be very different from the previously taken lesson. These dancing classes are very good for
the preparation of a huge range of movements possible in a student like dynamics, various forms, and
the qualities. That is the only reason contemporary dancers are seen ... Show more content on

The major difference which draws a line between contemporary dance and other dance techniques
is the relaxed movement which you can see only in contemporary dance. It has different names in
different places, some call it Release Technique . The dancing is very different from a gym
workout as it can be done in a very relaxed way and keeps you away from unnecessary tension.
The execution of movement is very essential while performing a contemporary dance as it
enhances the self awareness of the dancer. The dancing form allows the freedom of the well being
of a dancer rather than just some physical training exercises which help to improve a dancer in both
mind and body. Professional dancers love this technique a lot as it is very pleasant to work
The Story Of Chief Pontiac
Native Americans around the Great Lakes are following suit in what Chief Pontiac is doing.
Between May 16 and June 20, the British had lost nine of their eleven Forts and they are stunned as
to how it is happening. Fort Pitt, Ligonier, Bedford, Le Boeul, Isle, Miami, Sandusky, and St.
Joseph, and Ouiatenon are all taken under Indian control. General Amherst, the leader of the British,
at first didn t believe that this was actually happening. He would respond with letters stating that it
is impossible for the Native Americans to take over Forts with British guards occupying the Forts.
He also did not want to believe that Pontiac was capable of cutting off Fort Detroit. While this is
happening, Chief Pontiacis having talks of peace at Fort Detroit with Captain Campbell.... Show

Once Campbell tells Pontiac that he is unable to send his message to General Gladwin, he ends up
taking Campbell hostage, as well as Lieutenant MacDougal. Pontiac then sends some French allies
to tell Gladwin his proposal. At this time Pontiac has broken two rules of war, one being parley,
and the other is the rule truce. The other problem Pontiac is having is that he now had a hostage
that he also considers a friend. Lieutenant MacDougal and Captain Campbell had a plan to escape;
unfortunately only Lieutenant MacDougal was able to escape. Captain Campbell was out of shape
and had vision problems, which made it difficult for him to even
Persuasive Essay On Ketogenic Diet
If there is one thing Americans know a lot about its diets. Everything from Weight watchers to
Atkins and everything in between has been promoted on televisions, in bestselling books and now
advertised all over social media. Each one claiming to be the answer to weight loss, lifelong health
and even making claims of reversing disease. Unfortunately even with this inundation, Americans
are larger than ever. It s confusing. Who is right, who is wrong? What can be believed? What can
the average person actually attain and stick to? The government even has a say in what people
should be eating. The food pyramid and more recently MyPlate have been attempts to steer people
towards health. Unfortunately, they have been steering people in the wrong direction. A low fat high
carbohydratediet has been promoted extensively for many years, but it has left Americans fatter
than ever So what is the answer? It surprises some and frustrates others, but a high fat, moderate
protein and low carbohydrate diet is the way to go. This way of eating is commonly referred to as
the ketogenic dietor keto. The ketogenic way of eating is the best diet because it promotes safe,
healthy weight management including appetite control, reduces inflammation and high blood
sugars, and supports brain health. Many people are familiar with a low carbohydrate diet and the
keto diet falls within those parameters, but it has some distinct additions which are considered
paramount to its

Claude Debussy Research Paper
Claude Debussy was one of the leading composers of the twentieth century. His music pioneered
new genres, and he was considered the father of impressionistic music. To understand Claude
Debussy and his music, it is important to take a look at his early life and what effect that may have
had on his character and influences. His early life had great influence on his musicality and
musicianship, specifically his song set Quatre Chansons de Jeunesse.
Achille Claude Debussy (known as Claude Debussy) was born in 1862 to Manuel Achille and
Victorine Debussy. He lived a difficult life as a child and seemed to travel often. It is known that he
did not grow up in the best circumstances, and Edward Lockspeiser writes that:

Debussy met her in a roundabout way:
Debussy s father joined the national guard and later became a part of the revolutionary Commune.
With its defeat in 1871, Manuel went to prison for a year at Satory... [During this time, Claude
Debussy] became acquainted with Charles de Sivry, the son of a rather pretentious woman named
Antoinette Flore Mauté de Fleurville, the mother in law of Paul Verlaine (Wenk 2).
Madame (Mme.) Mauté was an excellent teacher, able to easily teach what she had learned from
Chopin, whose ideals, thus assimilated, her young pupil never forgot (Vallas 1973 4). Debussy
passed the exam after only a few months of training with Mme. Mauté.
Debussy took solfege classes with Albert Lavignac in his first three years. Albert Lavignac was
surprised to see that Debussy had a remarkable degree of musical sensibility, a taste for unusual
chords, complex rhythms, and unexpected progression of subtle harmonies (Vallas 1973 4). It was
clear that Debussy had a mature musical taste even at the young age of 11. He was not interested in
conventional musical ideas even then.
Lavignac had an attachment with Debussy, sometimes keeping him after class and reading music
with him. ...He often lost count of time in reading over and over with Achille some comparatively
new work, such as the Overture to Tannhauser , an opera whose first performance at Paris some
twelve years previously had caused quite an artistic,
Canada s Multicultural Dynamic
Canada s multicultural dynamic presents the country with a unique perspective unlike no other. The
nation is made up of citizens with different heritages, traditions and practices that have positively
integrated into Canadian society ever since the government began to acknowledge diversity within
the country. This paper will argue that multiculturalismrepresents a qualitatively better approach to
ethnic diversity than did the Canadian immigration and cultural policies that preceded it. Restricted
immigration and aboriginal assimilation negatively affect the larger picture of Canadian culture in
comparison to public policy supporting multiculturalism.
The idea of Canada being a multicultural society has arguably been around since the ... Show more

They had no choice in the matter and children were going to be taught how to assimilate into
Canadian society. This was done through the implementation of a residential school system and
therefore be forced to lose ties to a culture they knew their whole lives. They continued to be
segregated socially, silenced politically, and marginalized economically (76). The Canadian
government in this period was vested in decreasing diversity while promoting assimilation and
limiting the multicultural character of Canada (Davis 70). A political shift in ideals favoring
multiculturalism was necessary before the government continued to make decisions that would
compromise their integrity as well as continue a developing racist and prejudiced society into the
future.
It was not until the 1960s when previous assimilation and limited diversity began to change. The
federal decision to move away from ethnic intolerance and assimilation saw the beginnings of
diversity tolerance for Canada. The government was left with no choice but to tailor their mandates
around the shifting opinions of Canadians. Increasingly, Canadians found the old policy
incompatible with the liberal and democratic values of Canada (71) along with increased disaffection
with the policies of assimilation on the part of minatory ethnic groups themselves (71). Social
standards were changing amongst the general public.

labels, that you dislike, have been applied to you or to groups (for example: ethnic, social,

that Hmong people are not Chinese). Neither do I like for people to label me by my eyes (in fact, I

long before humans invented verbal communication. Some scientists believe that even today, most
communication between humans is non verbal. Both types of communication differ significantly
between genders and across cultures. What is Communication? It is the use of messages to create
meaning within and across a selection of contexts, cultures, methods and media, according to the
Association for Communication Administration. It is a learned activity you must learn to speak your

Bullying In Schools Essay
Bullying in Schools: Every second and minute of the day a kid is bullied. Bullying is something
that is not only happening here in the U.S. but all over the world. We need to put a stop to! As
parents, school educators, and a community we need to stand up to bullies and give kids who are
being bullied an outlet to reach out for help. According to No Bully.com bullyingis defined as a form
of repeated aggression that is directed by one or more people towards another person. One of the
biggest problems facing our school kids today is bullying. A typical schoolchild has a nearly 25
percent chance of being involved in bullying on school grounds, teasing or taunting on the bus,
sexual harassment, flaming on the internet, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whatever forms the bullying takes and also regardless of the content, just about every bullying
victim reports that they feel worse about themselves after they have been bullied. Especially in our
young and developing children, self esteem is critical; 5) Victims of bullying have much higher
absenteeism levels than that of normal children. Obviously the more time spent away from classes
and work not only limits their education and achievement but also takes them out of the necessary
social circles, stopping them from making new friends, benefiting from the support of current
friends and learning how to actually deal with these bullies. These statics are outrageously high. Our
kids shouldn t have to live in fear of going to school to get an education.
A bully isn t born a bully. Parents need to step up and help stop the bullying from an early age.
Children who engage in aggressive bullying behavior have problems at home or are not getting
enough attention and guidance from their parents. If parents take the time to help their children,
we might very well get rid of the bullying problems in school. Parents need to take an active role
in their child s lives. As parents we need to teach our children that name calling isn t right or there
are different ways to solve your problems with your classmates, violence is never the answer. We
need to hold our kids accountable, if they see one of their friends being bullied then they need to
stand up for their friend
The Wake Short Story
The Wake
Everyone outside my family seemed to think I was fine, but they obviously didn t understand that
this pain was ripping me apart. I was only eight years old and I was already being consumed into the
dwells of adulthood, stress, and death. The worst part was, I felt I was alone.
Those are the thoughts that were circling around in my head non stop while I was in the car on
my way to the wake of my little brother, K.J. When we arrived at that gloomy nightmare of a
place, I was greeted with what seemed a thousand hugs and the only thing I could think of was, I
barely know any of these people so why are they here for this? Only one person actually knew me

I sulked around the room that was filled with what seemed a thousand unfamiliar faces; separately,
I thanked all of the strangers for their time and support for our family. With every thank you I gave.
I got a God bless you, and a hug back. I didn t feel alone while I was there. Even though it took
every nerve in my body to not crash down and cry again, I felt a bit of happiness from these
peoples kindness. Was this wrong? Aren t I supposed to be mourning over my loss? Then
someone at the wake that I didn t even know, told me that instead of mourning over the death. I
should be taking pride in him because after all, he was a hero. In fact, he saved a little baby s life
by donating his liver. So many other people had plenty of comments and connections that really
made me think. Maybe I m not alone in this after all.
So instead of feeling depressed and alone, I was feeling a bit of joy. Even though it was sad that he
died. I was glad that at least I m not the only one mourning over a loved one. Also, once I read the
letters, I realized that at least four other kids in my class were mourning as well. Once I saw this, I
discovered out of all of this chaos, at least I wasn t
