Title A Multiple Regression Analysis of Insulin Usage Versus Non treatment of Hyperglycemia in
Non diabetic Trauma Patients
Abstract
Purpose: The goal of this study is to explore the relationship between insulin administration in non
diabetic patients and their average length of stay in the intensive care unit, versus those non diabetic
patients left to their bodies utilization of homeostasis to maintain euglycemia.

Only research will tell, since nursing research is systematic inquiry designed to develop knowledge
about issues of importance to nurses, including nursing practice, nursing education, and nursing
administration (Polit Beck, 2006, p. 4).
Problem Statement Hyperglycemia (typically defined as a blood glucose of 200 mg/dL) is a well
known phenomenon in critically ill patients without a prior history of diabetes mellitus (Langdon
Shriver, 2004, p. 163). While many studies have been completed with respect to management of
hyperglycemia in diabetic surgical patients, there has been minimal research regarding the impact
that tight glycemic control has on non diabetic trauma and medical patients. With managed care
requiring decreases in length of hospitalization and hospitals attempting to conserve cost
expenditure, placing non diabetic patients on insulin drips immediately upon entry into the health
care system may adversely affect both of these areas. Trauma patients without a diagnosis of diabetes
mellitus will require prolonged lengths of stay in the intensive care unit related to the fact that they
must have closely monitored blood glucose levels. In addition to the increased duration of their
intensive care unit admission, they are subjected to administration of medications they would not
normally take at home. Furthermore, this patient population has

We can all remember back to 2003 when the world was gripped with the SARS epidemic. In a
report published by the chief economist of the Australian Trade Commission, Tim Harcourt, it is
stated that there was an 8% decline in travel to Australia (Harcourt, 2009) over the period of the
epidemic. The good news for the Australian airline industry being that in the same report it also
states that once SARS was under control things picked up very quickly (Harcourt, 2009). The
good news being that based on the SARS experience the effect of Swine flu is likely to be only a
short term issue and won t affect the industry for an extended period of time. Even though
technically Australia has not fallen into recession, posting yet another quarter of GDP growth in
the June quarter of 2009 it is still feeling the effects of a fall in demand, some areas effected more
than others. An example of this is the cancellation of first class fares on 3 of Qantas long haul
services between July 6th and October 31st (Platt, 2009). The reasoning for this is simple
according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) business and first class (fares)
dropped 19 percent in March (Platt, 2009) , this is in contrast to an 8 percent decline in economy
fares; a clear result of people
Why I Want To Become A Social Worker
In the communications program, there are various courses which would benefit my future career
goals of becoming a social worker. The main characteristic of a social worker involves being able to
talk and understand people from various backgrounds. So, any communication class I am studying in
would assist in building the foundation for my upcoming profession. Three courses, taught here at
ULM, that I believe would benefit me the most would be Communicationand Conflict (Comm 3010),
Interpersonal Communication (Comm 1018), and Persuasion (Comm 3030). From the description,
the communication and conflict course teaches about the possible scenarios in which conflict could
arise and how to best handle the situation. Interpersonal communication teaches on the
conversations between small groups of individuals and understanding how to read nonverbal
messages. The persuasion course s description explains that the class focuses on the values and
approaches of persuasive communication. I feel that each of these classes would help me become
more comfortable speaking with others and create a self assured tone when speaking. Each of these
three classes would definitely benefit my future career goals. As an aspiring social worker, I will be
working with a small group or one on one and the interpersonal communication course would prepare
me for how to understand individual mannerisms. Both the conflict and persuasion courses could
help when dealing with difficult cases who have trouble... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since I am more of an observer in conversations, I have taken notice to how different groups of
people interact. I think it would be fun to learn more specifically about how gender plays a role in
our conversations. I am interested in how the course would be taught and the applications, if any,
would be carried out for hands on

Thus, by his imagination and a quest for innovation Henry Ford made many changes in his company
apart from certain resistances. Therefore for every organization s development there is a main
concept behind it, that is change. There are many approaches to manage organizational change. One
of the most popular models of change management is Action Research which is discussed below.

Action Research
According to Stephen P. Robbins, Action Research is a change process based on the systematic
collection of data and then selection of a change action based on the data indicates in the analysis.
Action Research is a five step process which includes, 1. Diagnosis Here, the change agents tries to
determine the causes for the organization s problems. Information is collected by taking interview
among the employees or searching the organizational records or by listening to employee concerns
to diagnose the nature of the problem. 2. Analysis In this stage, the change agents analyzes the data
collected in the previous stage. Through this, the change agent is able to identify different kinds of
problems. The change agent observes the similarities and differences between the problems. Then
the information is classified into three categories the

primary concerns, the problem areas and the possible resolving actions. 3. Feedback As the feedback

passionate love letters Thomas would write her, their marriage was horrible.
In 1940, Thomas and his wife moved to London, where he had served as an anti aircraft gunner,
but was rejected for active combat due to his illness. To avoid the air raids, the young couple left
London in 1944. They eventually settled at Laugharne, in the Boat House where Thomas would
write many of his later poems. In 1947 Thomas was awarded a Traveling Scholarship from the
Society of Authors. When Thomas was the age thirty five, he visited America for the first time in

The Effect Of Oxidative Stress On Diabetic Individuals
antioxidant enzyme status. With this information one could hypothesize that the aspartame may
have had a catalytic effect when mixed with methotrexate, and in turn MTX amplified the effects
since it has been shown to cause oxidative stress when administered in higher doses. Diabetic
individuals are mentioned by scientist, Iyyaswamy and Rathinasamy, a number of times throughout
the documentation of their study. The significance of diabetics to the study are not mentioned and
readers of the article are left to wonder why in the introduction it is mentioned that the consumption
of aspartame in diabetic individuals is on the rise. The writers reference diabetics again, in the
conclusion, stressing the importance of creating awareness among those that consume aspartame
and of the significant health risk that result from aspartame consumption. As one reads it is easy to
pick up on the beliefs the scientist hold in regards to the importance of diabetics and their
aspartame use. The obvious importance of these beliefs certainly could have been supported better
throughout the text. It was confirmed by the study that oxidative stress is a byproduct of aspartame
consumption. A diabetic s cells are already affected by oxidative stress (Asmat Ullah, 2015, p. 4). A
healthy balance is needed between free radicles and the antioxidants that neutralize them for the
body to function properly on the cellular level. The balance of diabetics is affected more
aggressively then healthy individuals
What Does The Wizard Of Oz Mean In The Gilded Age
For many generations, adults and children alike have relished L. Frank Baum s cleverly written
bedtime story, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. On the surface, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz seems
like an innocent fairy tale that was written solely to pleasure children today ; however a deeper look
into the main characters and symbolism inherent in the story, suggest an outlook into the Gilded
Age. Many historians, beginning with Henry Littlefield, have interpreted The Wizard of Ozas being
an allegory to the Populist Movement and the issue of money that surrounded the Gilded Age.
Although Baum mentions that The Wonderful Wizard of Ozwas written as a bedtime fairy tale to be
read and enjoyed by people of all ages, the hidden symbols and deeper... Show more content on

Therefore the Democrats pushed for a more conservative presidential candidate William Jennings
Bryan with the Populist support. On the other hand, the Republicans comprising mostly of bankers
and industrialists rallied for the gold standard because they wanted to keep the value of the dollar
high to retain their monopolistic power. The gold standard would also be beneficial to the creditors
because the amount of money they received from the debtors would be valued a lot more than that
which they initially lent out. Thus the stage was set for the battle of the standards in the elections
1896 between the Populist and Democrat nominee William Jennings Bryan and the Republican
candidate William McKinley. Baum writes The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, with the battle between
the Republicans and the Populists as the main basis for its plot structure. L. Frank Baum s
background is instrumental in understanding the parallels between The Wizard of Oz and the
Gilded Age in which Baum lived. Baum lived in South Dakota during the period when Populism
was gaining popularity. Western farmers had naturally rallied for the Populist cause of better crop
prices (inflation) because of droughts which destroyed their crops. Baum was witness to the misery
of the Western farmer and therefore sympathetic towards them. There is however some confusion
regarding Baum s political beliefs. Henry M. Littlefield believed that Baum was a reform minded
Democrat who supported Bryan and his cause for

Notre Dame Football: Coach Kelly and Staff

NCAA college football enthusiasts are already placing Notre Dame out of the running at a spot in
the College Football Playoff, after their 41 8 loss on a Saturday night. The Fighting Irish

Notre Dame leaders (8 1) within the Hard Rock Stadium in front of the mighty 65,000 fans.
