Dowell A. Meadows s Life And Work
Born March 13th 1964, Dowell A. Meadows was a American environmental scientist, teacher, and
writer, and she is known as the lead author of the influential book The limits to Growth and thinking
systems. She said, Your paradigm is so intrinsic to your mental process that you are hardly aware of
its existence until you try to communicate with someone with a different paradigm. This says that a
mindshift is essential, or naturally belongs, to a person s way of thinking. In addition, it says that
people do not even realize that it is there until he or she talks to someone with a different way of
thinking. A paradigm shift is a fundamental, meaning core principle, change of approach or
underlying assumptions. Following the definition of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At Seminary one morning, I walk in (sleepy as always), sat down, and listened to the lesson, and
around the end of class he, the teacher, shared a memorable experience. After being in the MTC
(Missionary Training Center), Michael Labarge went to France to serve a two year mission
sharing the gospel. He said to me, when you go on a mission, you are going to have some
missionaries that you just can not stand. LDS, Latter Day Saints, Missionaries do not pick
companions, they are assigned one. (I am not certain what the Elders name is, so I will refer to
him as Elder Mans.) Michael was assigned Elder Mans. Elder Mans was a very negative, lazy,
abrasive, and Judging person, and when the two of them had to be with each all the time, Elder
Labarge would have to endure his companion all day. The Elder had an amazing ability to be able
to complain about anything, for example, weather, food, schedule. Also at times, he would be lazy
and not went to go teach anyone that day, but then he would get on Michael case if some little
thing went wrong. For example, If Michael forgot to start a lesson with a prayer, Elder Mans would
talk to Michael for hours about what he did wrong. Michael also shared with the class that Elder
Mans once followed him into the bathroom because he thought that he had to be in eye sight of him
all the time, but he pushed Elder Mans out of the bathroom. Many times he would argue and fight
with Elder Mans, but it only made the situation worse. One day, Michael visited the missionary
president to ask him what he should do about his companion. The missionary president s advice
was to serve his companion. Reluctantly, he tried to serve his odd companion. He would make his
companion breakfast, make his bed, help carry his backpack, and ect. Soon, he saw a change in the
relationship with Elder Mans. Elder Mans started to do some

Case Study

IMPROVING STUDENT LEARNING BEHAVIOUR

Case Brief

The case I would like to address in this assignment is based on one of my 2009/2010 NC classes in
the afternoon. Despite the initial group discussion on expected behaviour, this group was
demonstrating a whole host of disruptive behaviours. This group also included a special needs
student, who was being supported by a Learning Support Assistant, whom I assumed had been
briefed on the needs. The observed disruptive behaviour included the following:

Arriving late

Listening to iPoD

Persistent talking

Throwing objects

Derogatory remarks

Withdrawn attitude of a few

Lack of resources that could shift the teaching methods to a more kinaesthetic end.

Proposed Ways to Improve Behaviour (1000 words)

One can argue that the potential to cause disruptive behaviour from the perspective of a student or a
group of students does not automatically result in disruptive or troublesome behaviour. Such
behaviour can be kept dormant, controlled, neutralised or changed over a period of time.

Keeping troublesome/disruptive behaviour dormant is not the ideal solution and although it has its
short term benefits, it may adversely affect the rapport between teacher and learners not a good start.
Abatement, enhancing or changing disruptive behaviour requires certain skills and so it is hoped
that by addressing the pre requisite, specifying an appropriate methodology, identification, and
selection of appropriate techniques a logical flow to this section is established.

Higher Education And Growing Percentage Of Labour Market
Introduction (120 words, 9 reshta ) Labour market condition over the decades. It seems the
expansion of higher education and growing percentage of labour market entrants are gaining
degrees. Therefor, employment rate has fallen to 5.5% according to (Amankwah, et al., 2015)
research. The graduate labour market has been exceedingly competitive due to nearly 18,000 final
year students graduating every year. Further research (Mason, Williams and Cranmer, 2009) showed
that By graduates having a structured work experience and employer involvement, it can lead to a
positive effect on the ability to secure employment in graduate level jobs . As to impact of extra
curriculum can result in strong employment growth, good opportunities for... Show more content on

The stability of demand and supply in the labour market can be essential as it is reflected at the
level of wages and salaries, which can determine the level of demand. If the amend is high in
relative supply it can lead to a rise in earnings. This can be an advantage to the labour market as it
can indicate an increase in the employment rate, which in turn will cause demand for human
resources to drop, this view has been supported by (Anon.,2015). If, by variance, supply is high
relative to demand, employment costs would decrease. Yet, recent research Richard, et al., (2005)
suggests that changes in labour taxes may have a permanent impact on unemployment due to
taxes being shifted onto labour. The level of unemployment can be affect labour market as
According to Lipsey (2004), the average wage growth can be shown in the increase in labour
demand and by the increase of higher wages in the average wage. As by the research conducted
from P. Richard, et al., (2005) Labour market does not seem to improve by the end of 2014, which
is due to changes in unemployment are positively correlated with changes in owner occupation rate
across, US and UK regions. Economic growth will likely go through indolent to be able to create
enough jobs which would be essential when reducing unemployment rates.
Important Concepts on Film Edition
Section 1F 1.Define parallel editing, montage sequence, and master shot, using Nichols. Give an
example of parallel editing that you notice in The Terminator. a.Parallel editing is method of editing
scenes that shows two separate incidents happening at once. In The Terminator, this editing method
was used when, after calling Sarah Conner pretending to be her mom, the terminator comes to the
hotel that she and Kyle were staying at. During this scene, the scene where Sarah Conner and Kyle
are talking and preparing to leave and the scene where the terminator is approaching the hotel
crosscuts. Thus, the audience knows that the danger is approaching. b.Montage sequence is group of
shots that marks the change in time or the unfolding of a process. (Nichols, 2010) c.Master shot is a
shot that provides an overview of the scene showing all the characters movement and gestures. It is
different from establishing shot in that establishing shot often puts a bigger action into play. In The
Terminator, master shot is applied when Kyle, in the future world, enters the underground hut where
human beings stay, master shot is used to show the movement and gestures of Kyle and all the other
soldiers. 2.Briefly summarize Pudovkin s essay on editing. What does he see as the function of
editing in relation to narrative? What is his argument concerning editing as an instrument of
impression ? a.Pudovkin, through his essay, states that combination of different shots can
China’s Education System
Education is the process of learning and acquiring knowledge at school from a teacher, receiving
knowledge at home from a parent, a family member, and even friend. Education is a key that
allows people to move up in the world, seek better jobs, and succeed in life. Education is one factor
that affects job positions people hold, advance in their further career, the income they make, and the
title they hold. The more educated a person is, the more prestige and power that person holds.
Educationimproves the quality of life, reduces ignorance, and exposes frontiers and opportunities not
previously handled. Education also focuses on the values, attitudes and behaviors that enable
individuals to learn to live together in a world characterized... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The similarities include administering a nationwide exam given to all the students. All students are
equally evaluated based on these scores. The test is used to determine which university students are
able to attend. There are also significant differences between these exams. In America the exams are
called the SAT or the ACT. In Chinait is named Gaokao. The Gaokao test is taken very seriously.
This test is taken for multiple days. Parents rent hotel rooms nearby so their student can have a
quiet lunch and take a nap. Some Chinese students go insane for this exam. They study for the
Gaokao while hooked up to IV drips. The IV drips contain amino acids which would provide the
students with extra energy (Kristof). This would definitely never be allowed in U.S. And lastly,
merit pay is different in China than U.S. The Chinese believe in merit pay and in using student test
scores for teacher evaluation. For example, when the 9th graders leave middle school they are tested
to see which high school they are qualified to attend. Since the same teachers have had those students
for three years, they compare their entry score to their exit score. The classes that showed the most
academic gain resulted in that banzhuren receiving a bonus that might range from 3000 Yuan to
6000 Yuan (one month or two months pay). The same is true at the high school level. This is not the
case in America. Teachers are evaluated through principals attending the classroom setting and/or
Mr Brown Can Moo Can You Essay
Tick Tock Knock Knock, we are wasting no more time worrying about the perfect children s book
because we have already found it. Mr. Brown Can Moo Can You? is a perfect book for children to
read about because it sparks imagination, appeals to their personality, and keep them more focused
on the story because of their short attention spans. While reading this fictional story, readers
follow alongside Mr. Brown as he demonstrates his wide variety of sounds throughout the book.
Mr. Brown Can Moo Can You? is a book meant to capture the attention of children with ages
ranging from five to seven. However, people of all ages have enjoyed the book and all of Mr.
Brown s variety of melody. This book would be very interesting to children because of its
imaginative property it possesses. Little children can see their selves making all the sounds as
Mr. Brown does. Another reason this book is great is because it is short, and it keeps the short
attention span of children. Plus, the children can tag along and do the sounds they enjoy just as
Mr. Brown does in the book. We found this book to be great for all children even adults because of
the way the book presents itself. Mr. Brown Can Moo Can you? is a very entertaining book because

A child would simply get lost within the first ten pages. This book is a sixty three page book with
a new storyline every two to three pages. In our opinion, this is way too confusing for a six to
eight year old child to understand. Lastly, like other Dr. Seuss books, it contains words that do
not even exist in the English language. Therefore, this could be misleading to smaller children.
Even like Mr. Brown Can Moo Can you? it has onomatopoeia, but the story is way more complex
unlike Mr. Brown Can Moo Can You? This story is about a boy and a girl and their animals they

The Indian Film Industry Of India

Indian Film Industry. Bollywood is one of the largest film producers in India and one of the
largest centers of film production in the world. However, the first films India watched were not
made in Bollywood. The various stages of evolution of bollywood can be categorized as follows:
Silent Era to Talkies (1930 1940): Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian Cinema was a man with
vision and courage. In the silent era, he pioneered the revolution and released his path breaking
film, Raja Harishchandra, based on a mythological character on 21st April, 1913 in Olympia
theatre. It was India s first full length feature film based on the legend of King Harishchandra, and
was released for the masses on May 3, 1913. India is a nation where more than 1,000 films are
made in various languages every year. A special narration must be given to the growth of cinema
for those who wish to understand what cinema in the country is all about. Further, technological
advancements and excitement for movies eventually gave birth to India s first talking film Alam
Ara made by Ardeshir Irani. It was screened in Bombay in 1931. Developments in the world of
Indian cinema were rapid in 1930s and 1940s. This era saw the rise of film personalities such as
Debaki Bose, Chetan Anand, S S Vasan and Nitin Bose, among others. Three big filming studios
like Prabhat, Bombay Talkies and New Theaters were born in the
You are the Father of My Baby
Finn couldn t stop the smirk on his face as he exited class. Rachel made him happy, but Quinn was
something else. Phone still in hand he entered the girls restroom hoping Quinn would be the only
one in there. Quinn was leaning on the restroom stall, waiting for him.

I really need to talk to you. Her eyes were red, and she didn t have the spark in her eyes she usually
had.

Rachel was in the stall eavesdropping until she heard a familiar voice.

Oh, hey, what s wrong? Is it the baby? Are you having it now?

No, you idiot. The only thing that s wrong is you. Look what I got in the mail yesterday. It s a
doctor s bill, Finn. Thank God I was quick enough to take it before my parents got it. I don t have
the money to pay this! If I ask my parents they would know something is up. Quinn had her bitch
smirk on as she handed Finn an envelope.

Do you expect me to pay this? I don t even have a job

Yes you re supposed to pay it. YOU RE THE FATHER! You re unbelievable! I knew you wouldn t
give a fuck about this! Quinn yelled loud enough you d be able to hear it from down the hall.
Rachel froze. Maybe she s hearing things. She kept thinking she was dreaming. Rachel sobbed
quietly in the stall. She s tiny so they couldn t see her legs. She wanted to scream at Finn, Quinn,
everybody. Yelling wouldn t help anything, especially if Finn and Quinn were literally 3 feet away.
It all suddenly started to make sense to her. Finn was going to tell her something. Maybe this was it ,
Upon first glance of this image, a large shark is...
Upon first glance of this image, a large shark is displayed that is enclosed in a rectangular tunnel
like space. It is unclear where exactly this space is located, however it is most likely not in an
aquarium because the space is too small and there are no other fish, marine like organisms, or
marine characteristics around the shark. The shark is probably dead and preserved to be up on
display because of the way his mouth is open and because of the white paneling surrounding the
space he is confined to. Considering that the shark is in a museum, there must be something
remarkable or idiosyncratic about him, such as his size, breed, capabilities, or place of death. Upon

Human beings may attempt to understand his death and what it was like, however could never
really grasp or relate since their own death has not been reached. While humans may mentally
comprehend, relate to, and be able to view death of living things around them, they are unable to
completely know what it is physically like, which is portrayed in Damien Hirst s work The Physical
Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living. The title of his work gives more meaning to
the artwork itself, which applies to titles of other pieces of art, poems, books, or movies, as well.
Many people say not to judge a book by its cover , which is actually partly true. Giving the work a
quick glance or just a look at the title is clearly not a fair way to judge, however the title is
important because it gives way to what the creator was attempting to portray. The shark in the
museum and its title both allow people to decipher what the shark itself and the title mean in
various ways; however, if it was just the shark, the artist s purpose would definitely not be depicted
as well. At first glance, one may believe that the shark is in the museum because of something
special about him, such as his age or any other specialities. Once the title is read, full meaning is
given to the work and individuals see that the artist actually created it to portray the reason that death
is incomprehensible to living individuals. The role of titles is not only important to
The Landolt Iodine Clock Reaction
The Landolt iodine clock reaction is a well known experiment characterised by a notable clear to
blue colour change. This experiment is often used to determine the rate at which reactions take
place. This colour change transpires when I2 reacts with 1% starch and NaHSO3 to form a blue
starch and iodine solution. The rate of reaction is accurately recorded with a stopwatch as soon as
the blue colour change is visible to the human eye. Rates of chemical reactions can be defined as
the amount of a particular reactant consumed in mol/L per second (Anon, 2017) These rate laws
have crucial effects in everyday life. There are five factors that affect a reaction rate. These are
known as temperature, concentration, the presence of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second variable that will be tested is temperature. If a liquid is heated the particles are given
more energy and move faster and faster expanding the liquid. (Jones, 2000) When the particles have
more energy they move around more and are thus more likely to collide which speeds up the rate of
the reaction. The opposite also becomes true when the temperature is lowered. This will be shown in
the experiment by two separate tests. The first will be conducted in a hot water bath at 70℃ and the
second in an ice bath of 0℃. It is commonly thought that the blue colour change will occur faster at
a warmer temperature and very slowly in a freezing temperature. This experiment studies the kinetic
reaction of a potassium iodate stock solution reacting with sodium bisulfite and water. IO3 1 + 3
HSO3 1 → I1 + 3 SO4 2 + 3 H1+ 6 H1+ + IO3 1 + 8 I1 →3 I3 1 + 3 H2O H2O + I3 1 + HSO3 1 →
3 I1 + SO4 2 + 3 H1+ 2I3 1 + Starch → Starch I5 1 complex (blue) + I 1
(Lyle, 2017) As the rate of reaction is dependent on the concentrations of the reactants, a rate law for
this experiment at 23.5℃ is: Rate = k [KIO3]^n[NaHSO3]^m. The instantaneous rate is the change
in product formation at a moment in time. The tangential slope on a curved lined graph will give the
instantaneous rate. The slope value is the instantaneous rate at the time indicated at the point which
the tangential line touches the concentration curve. The best

The main handicap of Women in India, and truly world wide, has been that of childbirth. The
bondage of reproduction , as Tikoo words it, had left Women reliant on Men for food, protection
and shelter (Tikoo pg 3). Tikoo also notes a Curse of Woman in India which have lowered their
place in society which is that of early marriage. In India, Hindu religious leaders all decreed that a
girl should be married soon after the beginning of puberty (Tikoo pg 23), and that the age of ten is
considered puberty. For Hindu girls, this means that they have little chance at education past this
age, and truly many do not even receive education before. One reason for this is that many
prospective in laws would not want an educated girl, since they believed that she would not want to
be a virtual servant then (Tikoo pg 26).

The plight of Women becomes very apparent in the sphere of marriage. Women are expected to
marry, and many call it the aim of her existence (Billington pg 22). There is a general belief of
parents that if their daughter does not marry, she will go to hell, and any Woman in this society
which does not marry is not seen as a real Woman. At this point she is forced to go into the
workforce.

Other statistics from India are shocking. Seven out of ten non school going children are female,
