Nature of Money laundering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Money laundering is the processing of these criminal proceeds to disguise their illegal origin. This
process is of critical importance, as it enables the criminal to enjoy these profits without jeopardizing
their source.
Illegal arms sales, smuggling, and the activities of organized crime, including for example drug
trafficking and prostitution rings, can generate huge sums. Embezzlement, insider trading, bribery
and computer fraud schemes can also produce large profits and create the incentive to legitimize the
ill gotten gains through money laundering.
When a criminal activity generates substantial profits, the individual or group involved must find a
way to control the funds without attracting attention to the underlying activity or the persons
involved. Criminals do this by disguising the sources, changing the form, or moving the funds to a
place where they are less likely to attract attention.
As money laundering is a necessary consequence of almost all profit generating crime, it can occur
practically anywhere in the world. Generally, money launderers tend to seek out areas in which
there is a low risk of detection due to weak or ineffective anti money laundering programmes.
Because the objective of money laundering is to get the illegal funds back to the individual who
generated them, launderers usually prefer to move funds through areas with stable financial systems.

KLGO Research
In this thesis, I discuss my research and fieldwork at Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park
(KLGO) in southeast Alaska. The conducted research examines fragile archaeological sites in
unstable landscapes and articulates climatic and environmental conditions associated to cultural
resources. My research includes identifying unknown sites, protecting known sites in unstable
landscapes, identifying environmental factors threatening to alter or destroy archaeological
resources, and examining human environmental relationships. The effects of a changing global
climatecontribute to the rapid melting of snow and ice patches, revealing significant archaeological
resources previously preserved in a cryogenic like stasis. Ice patch archaeology... Show more content

Collaborating on an international level remains important for conducting ice patch research due to
the rapid melting of alpine ice and decay of valuable artifacts. The work conducted for this thesis
included cooperation from Parks Canada. Ice patch research was conducted not only on the U.S. side
of the international border, but also on the Canadian side of Chilkoot Pass. Parks Canada allowed me
and KLGO archaeologists to use the Canadian warden cabin at the summit of Chilkoot Pass as a
basecamp for the ice patch study (Figure 1.4). Working between two sovereign countries emphasizes
the matter of climate change as a global issue and the importance in maintaining international
relations. Maintaining international relations benefits the scientific community on a global scale and
provides significant research opportunities. Since KLGO is a designated international park, the
enabling legislation of the designation allows continued cooperation, coordination, and training
between the National Park Service and Parks Canada at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical
Park, according to KLGO s general management plan. The legislation enacted for KLGO allows
approval for park archaeologists, in concurrence with park management, to conduct fieldwork and
research on the Canadian side of the

ostracize and scoff at people who failed to exhibit their narrow definition of appropriateness (Foldy).
Aestheticism, more liberal and welcoming, was the main contributor to the downfall of the Victorian
era because it combated Victorian exclusivity and embraced expression. A major direct impact of the
aesthetic movement was spurred feminism. People invested in more elaborate and bold furnishings
for their lives and homes, and boundaries were expanded to give women more freedom, causing
them to have a lesser presence of constriction and more of activity and frivolity (Brookes). This
breaking of Victorian control through the aesthetic movement made way for the notion of personal
fulfillment as a viable directed pursuit such as choosing to marry beyond social appropriateness and
functionality. Additionally, Wilde s aesthetically inspired infectious phrases increased the
involvement of the media and thus the eventual commercialization of arts and expression (Grech).
Wilde was the poster child of the men of the new aesthetic movement (Adut); The men of the
movement were wispy, narcissistic and solipsistic. (Anderson). Wilde paraded on the indulgence of
male beauty and that in the countered face of Victorianism he acted vain and pretentious according
to Himmelfarb, Wilde would not deny this but rather flaunt his vanity. This vanity coupled with his
homosexuality made Wilde quite indiscrete. There is no denying that the aesthetes, (a person who

Hard Time Dating Research Paper
Some women who have children at home have a hard time getting started dating. Some feel that the
children will think she s immoral if she does, and should only see Mother with one man, the father.
However, you can t stop living because of your children, and it may be that your child resents your
datingbecause you feel ashamed of it. Moreover, dating in a child s mind does not necessarily mean
sleeping together. When you feel ready to date, sit down and talk to your child if you feel it will
help you become more comfortable about dating. You can say, I d like to begin to date and I m
feeling uncomfortable. I expected to be married forever, but it didn t work and I can t stop loving.
How do you feel about it? If the child says, I hate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you are actually considering this, it can be overwhelming to see all the different choices and
you want to make sure you pick the right one. I played on some dating sites, mainly just to meet
some people to talk to online; I was too chicken to actually meet in person unless I could take one
of my friends with me for safety measures, because you never know! But I did find luck on
American Singles and while it is not for everyone, I found them fairly decent and I m glad I signed
up because I actually had luck with the site! I tried eHarmony along with plenty others and they of
course claim to be able to match you with someone that is compatible to your preferences
basically. They have grown profusely since first starting out in 2000. The thing that bothered me
most about eHarmony was the profile you had to fill out. This was seriously really long and took
so much time I would make it half way through and take a break because I was tired of answering
so many questions. I realize this makes a huge difference in matching you with someone
compatible, but at the same time, it wouldn t be so bad if you could do so much and then save and
continue the rest later on. Unless you just have that much free time to do it. Eharmony has 4 plans
you can choose from. They have a one month, three month, six month and a year membership plans.

The California High Speed Rail Authority
Greenhouse Gas Reduction The California High Speed Rail Authority Claims about the systems
environmental benefits are greatly overstated. As per Due Diligence Report, California HSR will
cause very little reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions (CO2). The California Air Resources
Board forecasts that the HSR would reduce CO2 emissions equal to only 1.5% of the current state
objective. On the other hand the California High Speed Rail Authority has made an exaggerated
claim of achieving almost 50% of the state objective. McKinsey report indicated that the CO2
emission reductions in the United States can be achieved for about $50 per ton. On comparison,
the cost per ton of CO2 emission removal by HSR is very high ranging between 39 and 201 times
the IPCC ceiling of $50. So it can be understood that the impact of High Speed Rail on CO2 would
be inconsequential and exorbitantly costly. Hence, the CO2 emission reduction due to high speed
rail cannot be legitimately included as an element of a rational strategy for reducing GHG emissions.
Considering the untenable traffic impact projections, California High Speed Rail Authority s claims
are considered specious. To attain more liability to the claims of the authority, an independent
assessment of HSR s CO2 impacts should be made, including both operations and construction. The
critics state that the California High Speed Rail Authority should stop making any statements about
CO2 or other air quality impacts until such an
The Four Lobes Of The Cerebral Cortex
The Four Lobes of the Cerebral Cortex
The human brain is very complex and is constantly being studied. Scientists have named different
portions of the brain and try to understand what the different areas control. The Cerebrum is the
largest part of the brain and contains most of the body s voluntary functions. (ChalkSMART, 2012)
The Cerebrum contains four lobes, the occipital lobe, the parietal lobe, the temporal lobe, and the
frontal lobe. The lobes are named for the skull bones they correlate with. Scientists have studied
which lobes affect different functions of the body. According to McCaffrey (1997/2014), it is
important to remember some functions can be localized to very specific parts of the brain; others
cannot be classified this way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The occipital lobe is the main visual area of our brain, the optic nerve from the eye sends signals
here and we experience shapes, colors, and motion around us. (Franzoi, 2014, p. 63) Also, a lot of
memory is stored in this area. (McCaffrey, 1997/2014) Damage to this area could cause blindness
even if the eyes and optic nerve are healthy. (Franzoi, 2014, p. 63)
Parietal Lobe The parietal lobe is located in front of the occipital lobe. This area of the brain is
associated with touch sensation, smell, and taste. (Franzoi, 2014) The parietal lobe is also involved
in writing and in some aspects of reading and recognition of visual symbols. (McCaffrey, 1997
/2014) Damage to this region could mean a person could not feel an object placed in their hand.
Temporal Lobe The temporal lobe is below the parietal lobe, near the temples. Long term memory
formation, anxiety, hearing, language word meaning and appreciation of smell is all associated
with this lobe. (Franzoi, 2014) (ChalkSMART, 2012) (McCaffrey, 1997/2014) Damage to this area,
especially to the respect of the left lobe called Wernicke s, could result in difficulty understanding
words and sentences. (Franzoi,
The Effect Of Abundance Of Nutrients On Plant Morphology...
All plants rely on nutrients to help them repair damaged cells and grow, each nutrient with its own
benefit. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh climates. Plant morphology
and growth is especially important for crops that are in high demand such as winter wheat grain
which has one of the highest worldwide production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients on
plantmorphology is further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheatseeds being
placed in treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after two
weeks have passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each treatment was measured
exclusively. The plants in the treatment without nutrients were noticeable shorter than those in the
treatments which contained nutrients. The results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients
is not as important so long as nutrients are included in the treatment.

Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can be divided into
two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most nutrients are absorbed through the
root hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well as run important processes such as photosynthesis
(Rush et al. 2016). For example, the nutrient Selenium is known to increase the resilience of plants in
harsh environments. In an experiment completed to see the effects of selenium on wheat growth, it
was noted that the Selenium
Essay on Sex in Ursula K. LeGuin s The Left Hand of Darkness
Let s Talk About Sex
Ursula K. LeGuin s The Left Hand of Darkness is the story of Genly Ai s travels to a strange
planet called Gethen, or Winter. His mission there is to persuade the nations of Gethen to join an
alliance Genly Ai represents called the Ekumen . However, his journey is rather difficult due to
the great difference in societies from Genly Ai s home planet, Earth, and this new one. In Gethen,
he learns that the people are completely unsexed for the majority of their days. When they are
sexed, it is only for a few days and each person is either male or female during this time. The
different governments use Genly Ai as a pawn, but in the end they join the alliance. Unfortunately, it
comes with the price of his friend s life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LeGuin does this to reinforce the notion that Genly Ai is completely unassimilated to Gethen
culture. She does this by having Genly Ai describe him as a woman, but calling him by the male
title King where LeGuin could have had Genly Ai call Argaven monarch , a sexless title that still
holds as much accuracy. The best show of Genly Ai s awkward understanding of sex in this manner
is, perhaps, when LeGuin has Genly Ai describe the owner of his apartment building when he
says, I though of him as my landlady, for he has a fat buttocks that wagged as he walked, and a
soft fat face, and a prying, spying, ignoble, kindly nature (48). LeGuin has Genly Ai describe his
landowner as a woman simply because of some of his physical features. LeGuin, using adjectives
that describe exclusively females, has shown that Genly Ai is completely unable to assimilate to
Gethen by giving up his perceptions of people and their sex.
As the novel progresses, LeGuin has Genly Ai s descriptions become a little less sexed to show him
adjusting to Gethen s sexual culture. Later in the novel, LeGuin has Genly Ai meet a character
named Faxe, she has him describe Faxe as having one of the most beautiful human faces [he] ever
saw (68). Here, LeGuin uses the absence of sexed description to show that Genly Ai has adjusted to
the Gethenian culture. Then, when LeGuin has Genly Ai discuss the issue of parenting he simply
states, that the distinction between a maternal and a paternal instinct is
Choosing The Best Court For This Lawsuit For Funny Faces
Determining the best court for this lawsuit for Funny Faces Donald Margolin should first consider
the following his personal jurisdiction, subject matter jurisdiction, and his minimum contact.
Personal jurisdiction deals with the power, the power the court s has over the parties involved in a
certain case. It applies to this certain case because Margolin is suing for his rights because his face
turned blue after using Funny Faces after shave cream. On the other hand subject matter jurisdiction
is the courts power to hear a certain case. This basically determines what courts will be involved
in what case. The importance of subject matter jurisdiction is crucial in this case because Donald
Margolin is trying to get his case heard by the right court in order for justice to be served.
Margolin doesn t want to have a lack of subject matter jurisdiction which can cause his case to be
dismissed. Margolin case may fall under one of the three jurisdictions which are exclusive federal
jurisdiction, state jurisdiction, and concurrent jurisdiction. Very few case falls under exclusive
jurisdiction such as bankruptcy cases, admiralty cases, and cases dealing with federal copyright.
State jurisdiction deals with more cases that is not involved with the exclusive jurisdiction of the
federal court system. State court also deals with cases involving adoption and divorce. Concurrent
jurisdiction on the other hand means that both state and federal court have jurisdiction over a case.

Analysis of Two Articles on Trash Disposal
First I will summarize an excerpt out of Heather Roger s essay, Gone Tomorrow: The Hidden Life
of Garbage published in 2005. Second I will summarize Lars Eighner essay On Dumpster Diving
published in 1995. Our government needs to immediately enforce a set of strict standardized laws
that carefully regulate and monitor the disposal of todays and more importantly tomorrow trash. I
will argue that this is necessary for large corporations and businesses to deduce their consumption.
Finally I will argue that we need to educate the public about the importance and need to restrict our
consumption to secure our future.
Heather Roger s essay Gone Tomorrow: The Hidden Life of Garbage offers a compelling outlook on
society s excessive and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for environmental change to happen society needs to see the significance of trash. To
make sense of that recall a time were you forgot to take the trash out and days later were reminded
by the rotten stench? Now multiply the stench of that 1 bag 2 million times. To help you further
understand let s put this in mathematical terms. Let s say on average 1 garbage bag weighs 20Lbs.
that equates to 1bag=20lbs x 2,000,000 = 40 million putrid bags. This equation has opened my
eyes. Rogers s argument that Landfills should be in public places is a good one. Society is
sheltered from Landfills: so they are out of sight therefore out of mind. If we can t see the pollution
we can t change our carbon foot print.
Heather Roger claims our current garbage disposal methods are short term and etiquette. Rogers s
position is clear that we need to minimize the use of landfills and create better means to discard
trash. In supporting Rogers s environment views I think that we need to create a more economic and
environmental friendly garbage disposal system. Heather Rogers and Lars Eighner both
acknowledge the issue with society s throwaway mentality. Eighner proves that we throw away
perfectly working stuff, having survived off others discarded materials. Eighner argues against
excessive waste we create but does not have any prospected solutions. Whereas Rogers acknowledges
the obvious need to minimize our consumption of waste but argues the need
Homicide Detective Research Paper
There are many things a homicide or police detective do whenever they re at work. Homicide
Detectives are used to experiencing death because it is their job to solve murder cases. Detectives
must remain calm while at crime scenes no matter how grotesque the crime scene may be. If you
really don t like being around dead people a homicide detectiveisn t the job for you. When detectives
are sent to a crimescene it is their job to examine the scene and search for evidence with the help of
a CSI team (allcriminaljustieschools.com). Without the help of this CSI Team many cases would be
much harder to solve due to lack of evidence. Homicide Detectives have to walk around and collect

The Minimum Requirements to become a homicide detective are a high school diploma, law
enforcement certification, and experience as a police officer (criminaljusticedegreeschools.com).
Due to the fact that you must first be a police officer for a certain amount of time you might not
become a detective for a while. Generally people who want to become a homicide detective will
have to go through a police academy. Police Academies are usually physically demanding. While
it isn t required, many homicide detectives have a bachelor s degree in criminal justice or forensic
science. (study.com) Sometimes it is helpful for Homicide Detectives to take a foreign language
class due to the fact that some criminals could speak a language other than English. Homicide
Detectives will most likely start out as police officers and will work their way up to detective. To
apply as a police officer you need an active Driver s License, U.S. Citizenship, and no criminal
record. (study.com) When Police officers have enough experience they can apply for a promotion to
detective. Some departments require applicants to pass an examination before being promoted. Most

Visual and Cultural Art
For my visual and cultural arts essay I visited the James E Lewis museum at Morgan State
University. For my essay I have selected key pieces of art that I believe express the African
experience in terms of their social, ethnographical and theological beliefs. This paper will also
attempt to draw a comparison to key themes features in the African Creation myths, which will
further elucidate the meanings hidden in these various works of art. It is my belief that this paper
will not only serve as a guide into the philosophical ideas of the African peoples but will help to
juxtapose these ideas with the often false premise purported by certain groups of society, which
would like to view Africans as primitive and uncultured. My first piece is the Benin bronze leopard.
Situated in the African artsection of the James E Lewis museum, if stands out not only as a true
testament to workmanship but also as a sort of conveyor of nobility, this nobility which
references the monarchy of the Benin Kingdom. The Benin Kingdom is ruled by a king names
the Oba. This reverence for the Oba can be noted as a special style of ancestor worship, more
specifically ancestor reverence. The idea of the society is that the Oba is divine, and as such the
lives of all those who live under his rule revolve around his divinity. This divinity is represented by
the various bronze plaques. The leopard has been regarded as a symbol of strength and fortitude for
many years in the Benin Kingdom. This bronze cast
Cinder Cone Research Paper
A Volcano is a mountain or hill that has a crater running through it filled with lava, rocks, gas and
hot vapour that will erupt. There are three types of volcanoes, there is the Cinder Cone volcano
which is the smallest, the Shield volcano which is in most cases the biggest and the Composite
volcano which can be the most deadly.

Cinder Cone volcanoes are the smallest type of volcano out of the three, their eruptions are small
and they are the most common volcano. They tend to be small hill sized and their eruptions are
pretty small potatoes as far as volcanoes go. Cinder Cone volcanoes form of congealed lava ejected
in a single vent. The lava erupts from the volcano and breaks into small fragments that soon become
solid and the volcano
