students that don t complete their program? Rosangela Dempster: Thank you for your comment.
The campus does track withdrawals. If we are able to, we verify their reasons for withdrawing and
use that information to better assist our students. All of our service departments partner with our
students to help them tackle life s obstacles. Common reasons for withdrawal are: health, family
emergencies, car accidents, or monetary. Robert Kessler: We refer to most of these reasons as life
happens . Something happens in their life that the student just cannot overcome. We are pleased to
say that a very small percentage of students withdraw for academic reasons. John Cross inquired
about what UTI does to encourage students to find a part time job in the automotive/diesel field, as
opposed to a non technical position. Rosangela Dempster: Thank you for your inquiry. Our goal is to
assist our students in finding a job that will help them support themselves while in attendance. In
doing so, we encourage automotive/diesel related positions, when
Advantages Of China Soft Power

1 Imbalance of soft power resources:
It is undoubtedly true, that one of the major challenges which China nowadays is facing in the
making of foreign policy is the ability how to make its cultural products more attractive. Although
that we still recognise various products which are made in China, the Chinese culture cannot be
compared to the United States when it comes to cultural attractiveness. This lack of cultural

The Iraqi war for instance could show the positive aspect of the EU soft power that overcame the
US in fighting terrorism. However, EU soft power if facing many challenges due to economic and
military powers that transferred the EU into a neutral and weak security actor that cannot play an
influential role in the conflicts. This weak presence of the EU soft power can be realised in the
Afghanistan conflict and Ukraine crisis. Another reason for the weakness of EU s soft power is the
fact that the formation of the EU based more on economic reasons rather than political values. It is
true that the EU through its communities as the European Political Cooperation ( EPC) has
strengthen its foreign policy, but it was only after the Cold War and the setup of European Security
and Defense Policy (ESDP) when the EU s foreign policy has really become influential and a
resource of its soft power. Although that the EU has been strongly presented in some international
conflicts as the Ache/Indonesian conflict in 2005, it did not gain any political presence as a
powerful actor. This weak presence of the EU soft power can be realised in the Afghanistan conflict
and Ukraine crisis. During the Afghanistan conflict, EU faced the challenge of how to make
changes and to appear as a powerful actor that can lead as the US.
Oceanography Personal Statement
Climate research is both urgent and uncertain. Changes in climate affect nearly every aspect of our
lives, from food security to public health. Unfortunately, limited or biased observational data
combined with a limited understanding of complex phenomena in the ocean (the dominant driver of
global heat and carbon uptake) presents hurdles for climatescientists. Uncertain results often lead to
public skepticism and stall environmental policy efforts; these delays threaten populations who often
contribute the least to anthropogenic climate changeand yet are likely to suffer the most. The global
need for reliable climate research drives my interest in climate and the ocean s role in the climate
system.
Since WHOI is known for innovation in oceanography ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heaving is wind induced vertical motion in the water column and has been linked to multidecadal
warming and salinity changes at shallow depths; however, there has been little study on the
presence of heaving in the deep ocean. Studying deep ocean heat and salinity transport mechanisms
in relation to water masses is crucial for the global energy budget, sea level rise projections, and
predicting how anthropogenic forcing will affect the future climate. The goal of our research was to
determine the timescale and magnitude of deep ocean heaving using temperature and salinity profile
data from the Hawaii Ocean Time Series
Jane Austen s Emma And Clueless Comparison

Emma and Clueless Comparison Jane Austen s Emma can be categorized as a bildungsroman,
better known as a coming of age tale, in which the reader follows the title character as she comes to
terms with her position in the world during the Regency period. However, looking beyond the titular
character, one can look at Emma as a satirical work regarding the restrictions and conventions of 19th
century society. This satirical element later went on to inspire Heckerling s interpretation as she
adapted the story of Emma into the cult film, Clueless, which goes on to highlight the phenomena of
cliques amongst the youth of America. Both works use the element of exaggeration in order to
explore the gender stereotypes and expectations placed upon society during their respective eras.
Heckerling effectively takes the novel Emma and thrusts it into the world of Beverly Hills, keeping
the underlying themes while engaging a more modern audience. Emma Woodhouse was the first
heroine in Jane Austen s novels to be free from financial concerns. She is introduced to the reader
as being, handsome, clever, and rich as well as having the power of having rather too much of her
own way and disposition to think too well of herself (Austen 1). Despite this description of a
spoiled young woman who too often gets her way, she is not taken by personal vanity and is often
genuinely compassionate to the poor. Despite being an exception to the
Why Is Animal Testing Wrong

Animal Testing Thousands of animals are hurt and even killed because of animal testing every year.
Scientists use animals of all kinds, apes, mice, rabbits, cats, etc. to experiment on. These experiments
range from giving them drugs, to see what effect they might have on humans, to testing what
extreme heat would do to the human body. The outcome of these experiments are often harm and
even death. Animal testing is not morally justified because it causes harm to live animals, there are
suitable alternatives to animal testing, and there are too many differences between humans and
animals to be able to call the outcome Accurate .

Human s organ structure, anatomy, metabolism, chemical and drug absorption, all differ greatly
from animals (Limitations and Dangers). Animal s bodies can handle things that the human body
can not, so some of the results that come from experimenting on these animals an extremely
inaccurate. In one case, the recalled diet drug Phen fen caused no damage to animal hearts, while it
did to humans. This is a perfect example, human bodies and animal bodies are much too different to
be able to get accurate predictions every time, endangering humans in some cases, and in others,
proving failed, potentially causing harm to animals for no reason. According to Dr. Richard
Klausner, former director of the National Cancer Institute, We have cured cancer in mice for decades
and it simply didn t work in humans. (Limitations and dangers). Testing on animals is not necessary
in today s society, with everything that scientists have access to.
Animal testing is outdated, there are several things that show how unreliable the results are. The
outcome of the effect on a rabbit, and the effect on a human could be two completely different
things, but society would not know until the product was released to the public. Society no longer
needs animal testing because there have been several alternative methods that have proven to be just
as, if not more effective than actually experimenting on animals. Animal testing not needed, and is
not morally
A Personal Hero In Paulo Coelho Santiago s The Alchemist

you get the urge that you were meant to do something great with your life. That little urge could be
the universe telling you that what you re doing now is not meant to be. At any point in life this can
happen, and it did happen to a boy by the name of Santiago. Through Santiago s journey he learned
that something very important that would change his life for forever. In the novel The Alchemist by
Paulo CoelhoSantiago learned everyone on earth has a personal legend, and the universe will
conspire to help you reach your personal legend. Throughout the book Santiago learned that just
because he was called to do something greater, does not mean it is going to be easy. During the
book, a boy started out as a shepherd. From that day on he was forever changed. As the book
continues he takes many risks and even gets to travel across the desert. In these next few
paragraphs, you will learn what kept him from his personal legends and what helped him achieve
his personal legend. Fear is the basis for most everyone s failure, it s not that often that people fail
because they are bad at something. In the Alchemist, fear almost kept Santiago from achieving his
dream. Fear controlled most of what he did all throughout the book. It made him afraid of losing all
his money, crossing the desert, and losing the love of his life. Santiago s dream was to find the
treasure at the pyramids, but many

Psychological Turmoil In The Birth-Mark By Nathaniel...
The Birth Mark is a short story by romantic author Nathaniel Hawthorne in the 19th century.
Romanticism is a form of gothic poetry that explores the emotions and nature of a writing. Romantic
writers like Hawthorne focuses on the dark elements of terror, psychological turmoil, supernatural,
and they decay of the natural world. In this short story, Hawthorne explores psychological turmoil
between a wife and her obsessive scientist husband. The Birth Mark is about a beautiful woman
named Georgiana that was admired by many of men and envied by plenty of women. She was
considered almost flawless but the pink hand shaped birthmark upon her cheek. A lot of people said
it enhanced her beauty and made her stand out more than she already had. She is the bride of

He is willing to remove it with a potion that has been barely tested to remove it. Georgiana being
so loyal to her husband only wants to see him happy to be with her, even if it risks her life in the
process. He has a disturbing dream about her marking: Aylmer now remembered his dream. He
had fancied himself with his servant Aminadab, attempting an operation for the removal of the
birthmark; but the deeper went the knife, the deeper sank the hand, until at length its tiny grasp
appeared to have caught hold of Georgiana s heart; whence, however, her husband was inexorably
resolved to cut or wrench it away. His dream could go deeper than just wanting to get rid of the
scar. This dream is foreshadowing into Georgiana s death. His conscious thoughts are now buried
into his subconscious mind. This dream pushes him to rid of the scar at all cost including the
death of his very own wife. She also knew that the removal of the scar will lead to her death. But
she is very dedicated and will do anything in her power to make her husband
The Importance Of Physical Activity And Its Emphasis

April 12, 2016 The Importance Physical Activity and its Emphasis in schools Our lives are very
busy with many activities to the point where we neglect our health. Over time the neglect results
in various diseases and illnesses. In order to avoid this from happening, we need to make physical
activity part of our lifestyle from an early age. Physical activity has many benefits while many
young people of the future are still in school. According to the CDC, Center for Disease Control
regular physical activity helps build strong muscles. (CDC) It helps reduce the chance of obesity
and other diseases and helps improve an individual s mood and overall wellbeing (CDC Physical
Activity Facts). Most students get their physical activity through school PE classes. These types of
exercise are done for a short time and not enough for the recommended 30 to 45 minutes for most
students according to the CDC. (CDC) Physical Activity is an essential part of our lives and should
be part of everyone s daily routine.
During my research I found many surprising facts on the benefits of physical activity. According to
the CDC s article Physical Activity Facts Regular physical activity in childhood and adolescence
improves strength and endurance, helps build healthy bones and muscles, helps control weight,
reduces anxiety and stress, increases self esteem, and may improve blood pressure and cholesterol
levels.1 (CDC). This is another example of
Research Paper On Sumatran Tigers
Sumatran tigers are one of the smallest subspecies of the tiger family, with an estimated 500 600
left in the wild. However, the actual count is most likely fewer than 400 tigers. In 1978, a census
was taken of the Sumatran tigers. It stated that there were about 1,000 tigers in the wild. In the last
25 years, the Sumatran tigerpopulation has been cut in half. Their species is considered critically
endangered, and their numbers are still going down. Their endangerment would mean that their
ecosystem would crumble without them.

They are very small in size compared to other tigers, as they weigh only about 170 pounds to 330
pounds. Because Sumatran tigers are so small, they are able to move through denser areas of
forests to catch their prey. Some experts believe the reason they re so small is because of limited
space in their natural habitat. Their tiny size also comes the size of their prey, which is smaller
than most other species of tigers, like wild boars compared to water buffalo. They are mostly
orange in color, but they have white on their underside and black stripes. The stripes on a Sumatran
tiger are packed closer together than other tiger species. These close stripes help Sumatran tiger
blend in with the tall grass around them. They have a lot of fur around their necks, too. Sumatran
tigers have webbing between their toes, which helps them swim easily through ... Show more content
