Analysis Of Arrival In Jerome By Henry Sugimoto
Arrival in Jerome Portrait of the Tragedy of Japanese American Internment The painting hanging
on the red wall of Mills Center was something that I had never noticed before. I walk past the Mills
Center at least four times each week and not seeing such an incredible piece of art demonstrates how
ignorant I can be. This painting is an artwork titled Arrival in Jerome by Henry Sugimoto, who is
best known for his depictions of the wartime internmentexperience, many of his paintings executed
while he was confined at the Jerome and Rohwer camps. Sugimoto represents Japanese Americans
who loved the United States and worked so hard for the country, but were imprisoned and denied
their basic rights during World War II. The painting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From his initial years in California, Paris, and Mexico to the transformative effect of the World
War II detainment of Japanese Americans, Sugimoto s art turned into a striking articulation of the
American immigrant experience. As a Japanese American immigrant, Sugimoto also had to face
the fierce treatment of the government during the World War II. Sugimoto and his family were
confined to the temporary internment camp after the Pearl Harbor bombings. Japanese
Americans were treated as threat to the United States after the attack on Pearl Harbor on
December 7, 1941. Japanese Americans were forced to sell their properties or leave whatever
they had and were sent to live in internment camps. The internment camps were surrounded by
military forces and barbed wires. Life in the camps was difficult. Around 60 people lived in the
same house in the camp and they weren t even allowed to work. Japanese Americans were treated
like prisoners in their own land. Following Executive Order 9066, which was issued on February
19, 1942, the Sugimoto family consisting Sugimoto, his wife and his daughter Madeleine was
rounded up in the spring by the army and confined in Pinedale Assembly Center. They were then
sent to the Jerome camp in Arkansas, moving to the Rohwer camp in June 1944 when the Jerome
camp was closed. The government s treatment shocked Sugimoto. Believing it was his mission as an
Good Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies
The controversy of human nature being good or evil will essentially always be around. Opinions
and views are argued, but the truth is yet to be proven. Following his novel Lord of the Flies ,
WIlliam Golding was labeled as one who believes that human nature is evil. Although this
pessimistic view in the book can be seen, the optimistic belief is also evident throughout it.
Golding s hopeful view of good human nature is evident through events in the story like Ralph s
rescue, Sam s and Eric s loyalty, and Ralph s refusal to join the tribe. Perhaps one of the first
examples of good human nature is Ralph refusing to join Jack and his tribe. Although he knew it
would have been the most effective way to end the fued on the island, Ralph understood that the
face painted boys were problematic to their chances of getting rescued from the island. When
asked by Jack to join the tribe, Ralph responded I m chief because you chose me. And we were
going to keep the fire going. Now you run after food (Golding 150). Ralph shows good human
nature while trying to keep an orderly system within... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Ralph visits Sam and Eric after they had been captured and forced into the tribe, they tell
him You ve got to go now, Ralph. For your own good. (Golding 189). The good human nature of
these two characters allows them to warn Ralph, rather than turn him in to Jack, who would kill or
torture him. They also go on to tell Ralph they re going to hunt you tomorrow (Golding 188) ,
warning him about Jack s and Roger s intentions. This loyalty to Ralph also allows him to conduct
a plan for survival. Ralph may not have made it on the island if the twin s goodness had not been
effective. This simple empathetic act is yet another occasion that shows the novel is not an example
of pessimistic views of human
We have always lived in the Castle
In the story We have always lived in the Castle, by Shirley Jackson, the reader is presented with
only one perspective and that is Mary Katherine Merricat Blackwood s point of view. While many
aspect were present, the one that really stood out was that the Blackwood family does not appreciate
change. Everything is preserved: objects, food, routines, rooms, etc. So, it is clear that when facing
situations that cause change, both Mary Katherine and Constance Blackwood, the two sisters who
survived the murder of the family, would react a certain way. Merricat s reaction is seen through
different stages from non verbal, to verbal, to violent. On the other hand, Constance seemed to
welcome change for the most part... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That step was mostly seen when Merricat talked about her dislike of cousin Charles. She had, on
multiple occasions, said that Charles is a ghost (p.69), that he would soon go away, and that he is
causing uncle Julian to become more sick. The last straw was when Mary Katherine had asked
Charles directly Please will you go way? (p.80) and his reply was no. The third step appeared
when Charles kept threatening Merricat that he would win Constance over. She was worried about
losing her sister s affection, so, this young girl decided to scare Charles away. She started listing
off poisonous foods and their effect on the human body. On top of that, she trashed his bedroom to
the point where it became unrecognizable. Her last act of violence towards Charles was when she
started a fire in his bedroom which had successfully gotten her rid of him. She had said: There
would be nothing of Charles in there now, even his pipe must have been consumed [by the fire]
(p.102). In this scene, Merricat had repeatedly said that the fire that she had started was Charles
fire. This sentence alone represented her disconnection to the fire that she had started, nothing was
her fault, she merely took a measure to get rid of a nuisance. This concept was mostly visible
when Merricat said I wondered if I could go up the stairs and shut the door to our father s room and
keep the fire inside, belonging entirely to
Pros And Cons Of Performance Enhancing Drugs
Performance Enhancing Drugs Sports Edition
Performance enhancement drugs should be illegal because it gives the individuals who use them
more advantages than the people who don t use the drugs and actually work hard. Here, the World
Anti Doping Agency defines the term blood doping and what it does: Blood doping is the misuse of
certain techniques and/or substances to increase one s red blood cell mass, which allows the body to
transport more oxygen to muscles and therefore increase stamina and performance. These drugs can
be administered via syringe, and blood transfusion. When administered these make the blood more
thick with makes the heart work harder to pump the blood through the body. This can cause heart
attacks, strokes, and even blood clots in various places.
On the other hand transfusions can cause the risks to go up for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and even
HIV as well as the risk of allergic reactions, hives, fevers, and a dangerously high iron buildup. All
of the named risks can be life threatening if not taken seriously. Blood doping has became a recently
popular use of performance enhancing drugs. Until blood doping became popular athletes just used
steroids and other typical substances to boost their performance and alertness in games. Although
this method is illegal it can also be very difficult to detect due to the fact that a natural hormone
known as Erythropoietin can trick the testing into believing the body has been in fact, doped. Hence
the reason
Gross Motor Milestones
Moving and exploring the environment as an infant is significant for motor, cognitive, perceptual,
and social development, particularly at the point during infancy where the brain is developing very
rapidly.
Many movements happen in a fairly predictable order in typically developing infants. As infants
progress to becoming a toddler, they begin to achieve motor milestones
e.g.
Crawling and walking (gross motor skills),
Stacking blocks or colouring (fine motor skills) and
Speech and comprehension (language skills).
These gross movements gradually become clearer throughout infancy and early childhood. Thus
meaning infants become able to lift their heads, sit up, and eventually stand with minimal support.
A new borns movements seem to be

We are very fortunate in America to live in a free society. We can chose to take advantage of the
freedom we have and make a life that we were designed to live in the job we were designed to do.
Or we can sit on the sidelines and complain about the lot we were cast and become miserable old
curmudgeons who have no true friends and die mostly alone.
Life is uncertain in that we do not know what tomorrow holds, but if you knew you would die on a
certain day at a certain time would you choose to live a miserable unfulfilled life or one where you
choose to use the talents you were given by God and live a joyful life doing what you were designed
to do. Well here is some news, you are going to die someday so why not use the gifts God gave you
and make something of what you are.
If you let life happen to you you will probably lose. Sitting around and waiting to hit the lottery is
not a long term goal. You have got to start paying attention to the calling that is in your heart, start
setting goals, and start reading books to help you see beyond tomorrow when you realize you
control your future and you start making better choices then you will start to see changes in your life
that you never thought would happen.
Here is the stuff you do not hear in goal setting seminars. There will be times when you think you
have failed. These time of doubt come into every persons life. Unless you quit you have not failed.
Mistakes and setbacks happen but they are not
Duality Of Religion Essay
Although this problem appears to be massive within the churches, the uncontrollable sexual trauma
worldwide dictates a crisis point also. News reports give us ongoing catastrophic events daily, laced
with continual sexual anguish; from rampant pedophiles to the explosion of sex trafficking, let alone
the insurmountable sexual sufferings people endured within our normal world. At the forefront,
within the majority of situations, since one s Godly divine presence basically befalls omission,
(labeling it as being above and beyond sexual association); inescapably, an immeasurable amount of
people struggle with their misunderstood sexual desires, unaware of their heritage of God s
phenomenal, divine miracle within their beings. Consequently,... Show more content on

Thus, without having the knowledge of God s sexual presence; innumerable folks remain at the
mercy of evil sexual influences. Although, a person s Godly sexuality within calls for integrity
and respectability; still, this benevolent alternative marvel, will never leave you nor forsake you,
Heb 13:5 and will give you rest, Matt11:28 30. Various ones may feel this acquaintance places a
person under the Divine s magnifying glass like no other, intensifying one s true identity within;
however, none of us hide from God on any level and undoubtedly God has full knowledge of
people s true intentions regardless. Conceivably one s Divine sexuality could be an individual s
last personal frontier left to explore; an incredible experience to lovingly honor and certainly to
be dealt with sincerely. Categorically, I have observed quite a few people pointing a finger of
blame toward priest s celibacy, emphasizing its practice would be like having an albatross around
the priest s necks; singling out celibacy as the culprit that causes all the sexual dysfunction. Yet, in
the beginning celibacy existed as the prize among the godliest; thriving as a treasure for its
followers that triumphed as a glorious, divine gift of the
