Marriage and Divorce

Short Essay #2
Short Essay on Marriage and Divorce
One morning while doing my devotions, I received a phone call from my friend Jane. She told me
that Tom and herself had hit a rough spot in their marriage, and were considering their options.
Before making and rash life altering decisions she wanted to know if I would meet with them to get
my perspective, and to ask some questions about what the bible says about marriage and divorce. I
told her I am certainly no marriage counselor, but I would love to help out in any way that I can.
Not really knowing where to start I prayed for them, and I prayed for guidance and this is what the
Lord brought to me.
The Bible actually has allot to say about marriage. Marriage ... Show more content on

If you are a believer divorced by an unbeliever it also would be ok for that person to remarry;
however, the second marriage should be entered into lightly and heavily considered beforehand.
The bottom line is divorce hurts, it hurts the people and family involved. Going back to the duct
tape illustration, people come out hurt and damaged. I think; however, the church needs to come
along side and support the divorcee. We live in a fallen world where divorce is a very real thing and
not something to be taken lightly.

Differences Between The Great Gatsby Book And Movie
Throughout The Great Gatsby Jay Gatsby makes it his goal to achieve Daisy s love for him as
she once had. While both the novel and the film clearly show Gatsby s great motivation to obtain
Daisy s love, in the film, Luhrmann exaggerates Fitzgerald s reasoning for why Daisy decides to
choose Tom over Gatsby. Luhrmann does this through the use of imagery and the addition of
new events. Luhrmann is able to exaggerate Daisy s reasoning for why she chooses Tom over
Gatsby by being able to implement visual imagery of the events that happened in the book. This
meant that the developer of the movie would be able to set up scenes that corresponded with the
novel but being that it was a film, there could be more added to it that could not be used in the
book such as the use of nonverbal communication. As a result this creates a more villainous
characterization of Gatsby in the film opposed to in the book whereas Tom carries that
characterization. One of the most significant scenes in the film to support the idea that Luhrmann
creates greater reasoning for Daisy to stay with Tom was simply left out of the book. In the film
this scene serves as a major turning point or even the climax of the movie and in terms of Gatsby
and Daisy s relationship. This scene takes place when Gatsby, Daisy, and Tom are at the Plaza
Hotel with Nick and Jordan. Gatsby tells Tom that he and Daisy are in love. Gatsby continues to go
on by saying that she never loved Tom. It is in this scene that Gatsby

Stan
The song Stan was recorded in 1999 by arguably the best rapper of all time; Eminem. The song is
based on an obsessive fan named Stanley, but is referred to as Stan throughout the song. Stan
confesses that he is the Eminems biggest fan. This is explained by the numerous letters that Stan has
written to Eminem. The letters are written to the artist and every new letter brings out more
obsession of Stans love for Eminem. His obsession excalates to anger when Eminem fails to
communicate back. Each unanswered letter leads to more anger and he gives up writing letters to
the artist. Although he stops writing Eminem letters, he attempts a new form of communication.

sound effect of rain pouring in the backgroud, it is a storm that exemplifies the sadness that Stan

The Time Machine Literary Devices
In the The Time Machine by H. G. Wells, the Time Traveller travels to the year 802,701 and finds
a divided world between a beautiful but simple race called the Eloi. He explores the world and
when he comes back to where he left his time machine, and finds that it is gone. At first, he blames
the Eloi, but he finds another race of disgusting humanoids that live underground and feast upon the
Eloicalled the Morlocks. He theorizes that the Eloi were a part of the upper class while the
Morlocks were the working class, and they split after years of separation. The Time Traveller
saves one of the Eloi named Weena from drowning and she becomes his companion, but she later
dies while the Time Traveller is fighting off the Morlocks. After fighting off the Morlocks with fire
and a mace, he gets his time machine back, and travels back home. During the Time Traveller s
journey, he experiences many emotions that Wells makes clear to the reader through the use of tone.
Hope, science, and disappointment are all common tones that Wells uses to influence the reader s
emotions at different times in the story. Wells uses the tone of hope to show that the time traveller
sympathizes with the Eloi and to motivate himself to get his time machine back. The Time Traveller
sees that even though they are not intelligent, some traits of humanity are not gone from the Eloi.
The Time Traveller says And I have by me, for my comfort, two strange white flowers shriveled
now, and brown and flat and

Effects of Air Pollution in Delhi
Introduction

Air is the ocean we breathe. Air supplies us with oxygen which is essential for our bodies to live.
Air is 99.9% nitrogen, oxygen, water vapor and inert gases. Human activities can release substances
into the air, some of which can cause problems for humans, plants, and animals.

There are several main types of pollution and well known effects of pollution which are commonly
discussed. These include smog, acid rain, the greenhouse effect, and holes in the ozone layer. Each
of these problems has serious implications for our health and well being as well as for the whole
environment.

One type of air pollution is the release of particles into the air from burning fuel for energy. Diesel
smoke is a good example of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Data from continuous monitoring of air quality reveals that suspended particulate matter levels still
far exceed stipulated standards, there is a significant downward trend as indicated in the following
tables.

Due to phenomenal growth in the number of motor vehicles Delhi and power generation based on
a fired power stations, total amount on coal fired power stations, and total amount of pollutants
received by the city is around 3000 tonnes as compared to 100 tonnes a decade ago. Sixty five
percent of these pollutants are produced by motor vehicles. Annual average maximum, levels of
SPM in Delhi s air has increased from 7.6 times the permissible limit in 1987 to 16.7 time in 1995.

The steep increase in vehicle population has resulted in a corresponding increase in pollutants
emitted by vehicles. Petrol consumption has increased from 133 thousands tons in 1980 81 to 449
thousand tons in 1996 97 and HSD consumption from 377 thousands tons to 1,234 thousand tons
during the same period. Two wheelers, which constitute 66% of the vehicles registered in Delhi, are
the major source of air pollution.

Thermal power plants contribute to 13% of air pollution. The main pollutants are stack emissions;
fly ash generations and fugitive emission in coal handling. All thee thermal
Theme Between The Great Gatsby And The Truman Dream
The American Dream, a concept of which every American is granted equal opportunity allowing the
highest aspirations to be achieved and every person to live a better, richer and fuller life. Throughout
films The Great Gatsby and The Truman Show directors Baz Luhrman and Peter Weir both depict a
message to society presenting the unfulfilling reality of this pursuit. Both directors present this idea
through the use of stylistic features, film techniques and conventions including setting, costuming,
characterisation, structure, style, camera angles, sound and lighting.

When comparing settings between The Great Gatsby and The Truman Show both films are very
different however both communicate the same idea of the perfect lifestyle of the American
dream. Luhrman uses a wealthy 1920 s lifestyle set in Long Island, New York City, dividing the
island into two areas known as the west egg and the east egg which can also be represented as old
money and new money. In the 1920 s and still to this day Long Island was home of the rich and
famous upper class citizens. Early in the film the audience is presented with an establishing shot
of Gatsby s mansion. Nick describes Gatsby s mansion by saying, The one on my right was a
colossal affair by any standard it was a factual imitation of some Hotel de Ville in Normandy, with
a tower on one side, spanking new under a thin beard of raw ivy, and a marble swimming pool, and
more than forty acres of lawn and garden. Gatsby s mansion
Matt Moreau s Dilemma
BUS 303 Case One: Matt Moreau s Dilemma Introduction Chuck Mackness, the president of
Bantings department stores recently appointed Matt Moreau as head of customer services due to
customer complaints at the other department stores. To help Matt in the staffing of his newly
created department, Steven Judson, corporate personnel manager, refers Sally Armitage, an ideal
candidate who holds many years of management experience at other department stores. After
calling Tony Abbott, regional manager, who worked with Sally and gave her performance
appraisal, Matt finds out that Sally recovered from cancer a few years ago and is unsure whether
Sally would be capable for the high demanding position. This paper will analyze the ethical issues...

Although Tony gave her a performance appraisal, he understands the absences Sally took were
serious. During the conversation with Matt, Tony believes Sally should not be hired because of
her current state of health. He believes Sally is able to cope with her current position because she
lives only 10 minutes away and that she has got a good staff when she s not feeling 100 percent
so she can coast a little bit. Sally is looking for a position in head office because she is ambitious.
She does not consider the factors that would affect her if she does get hired. Her commute to
work would increase to one hour each way unless she moves closer to downtown. The job would
take a toll on her health and she would not have much time for her daughter with the late nights,
meetings and traveling. Even if her illness comes back, she believes she can cope with the
demanding job by working even harder to prove to herself that she can do anything. Sally s
daughter would not want her mother to be hired because that would lead to less time spent
together and if they do move to downtown, Sally s daughter would be one hour away from school
or she would have to change schools. The other departments in Banting would not want any change
in operations because they would have to learn new procedures and software. Ethical Issues Matt is
obligated to make decisions in the interest of the company. If Sally is hired and her illness

over a project from the county Department of Public Works, so he arranged a meeting with the head
of the snowplowing route administration. He needed to have some maps corrected and updated.
The maps included snowplowing routes by areas. The major problems in the map that he made were
the streets labels; they were all overlapping at the intersections, and the textures used to symbolize
some roads where not adequate. I also gave him some tips and additional suggestions that I can
include to improve the maps quality.

The interactions that I have with my supervisors and colleagues are very positive. The relationship
