MODUL AJAR: PROCEDURAL TEXT (Grade 10)


A. STRUCTURE OF A PROCEDURAL TEXT
Part Explanation

Title Tells the topic or what activity the text is


about. Example: *How to Make Tea*

Goal The purpose of the text; what the reader


will learn or do after following it

Materials The tools or ingredients needed to


complete the procedure

Steps The sequence of instructions to follow in


order, using sequence words like:
First, Then, Next, After that, Finally

B. LANGUAGE FEATURES OF PROCEDURAL TEXT


Feature Example / Explanation

Action verbs Use verbs that tell the action: Cut, Mix,
Pour, Stir, Boil

Imperative sentences Sentences that give instructions: Turn on


the stove. Add the sugar.

Sequencing words Words to show the order of steps: First,


Second, Next, Finally

Simple Present Tense Because it tells how to do something in


general or daily context

C. EXAMPLE OF A PROCEDURAL TEXT


Title How to Make a Cup of Coffee

Goal To make a simple cup of hot coffee

Materials 1 sachet of coffee, 1 cup of hot water, 1

spoon, sugar (optional)

Steps 1. Boil water until hot.


2. Put coffee into a cup.
3. Add hot water.
4. Stir well.
5. Add sugar if you like.
6. Serve and enjoy!

D. COMMON DAILY PROCEDURES


Activity Possible Steps

How to Brush Your Teeth 1. Wet your toothbrush.


2. Put toothpaste on it.
3. Brush your teeth.
4. Rinse your mouth.

How to Prepare Instant Noodles 1. Boil water.


2. Add noodles to boiling water.
3. Wait 3 minutes.
4. Add seasoning.
5. Stir and serve.
