2. Write short answers to any EIGHT (8) questions: 2  8 = 16
i. N2 and CO have same number of electrons, protons, and neutrons? Justify.
ii. How can the efficiency of a chemical reaction be expressed?
iii. How limiting reactant is identified?
iv. Define crystallization. What is the basic principle of crystallization?
v. State sublimation with two examples. How this process is carried out?
vi. High pressure and low temperature make the gases non-ideal. Explain why?
vii. Give the S.I units of general gas constant (R).
viii. What do you mean by absolute zero temperature? How is absolute zero explained by drawing graph
ix. Differentiate between primary and secondary cells with examples.
x. A porous plate or a salt bridge is not required in lead storage cell. Give reason.
xi. Define activation energy and activated complex.
xii. How surface area and light affect the rate of a reaction.

i. What are Debye forces?
ii. Earthenware vessels keep water cool. Why?
iii. What is anisotropy? Give one example.

and H3O+?
v. Define system and surrounding with one example
vi. Define state and state function and give two examples?
vii. The sum of mole fractions of all the components is always equal to unity for any solution. Justify it.
viii. Define parts per million. Write its mathematical expression.
ix. Define azeotropic solution with one example.
x. The boiling point of one molal urea solution is 100.52 °C but the boiling point of two molal urea solution is less than
101.04°C. Give reason.

5. (a) Mg metal reacts with HCl to give hydrogen gas. What is the minimum volume of HCl solution (27% by weight)
