(I-MBA)
INTRODUCTION
Integrated Master of Business Administration (I-MBA) is an innovatively designed
programme to prepare students to excel in various domains of management right
after their school. This programme is offered by NICMAR Business School (NBS).
This is a comprehensive management programme comprising courses of
undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels which leads to a holistic
development of students to become dynamic professionals. This programme is
spread across ten semesters over a period of five years.
The unique curriculum of the programme transcends the boundaries of orthodox
management education and aims to empower students with the contemporary skills
required to lead businesses and organisations in the modern era. It has been
designed to encourage creative and analytical thinking coupled with the zeal for
innovation, and to foster the leadership skills contributing to the overall personal and
professional development of students. The programme comes with the exit option at
the end of 3rd year with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree or at the
end of the fourth year with a BBA (Hons.).

The first three years’ curriculum, apart from the specific management domain related
courses, includes various courses from different areas such as science, commerce,
humanities and liberal arts to improve students’ understanding of key aspects in
business management.
At the end of third year, a student has to decide
a. Exit after third year after taking BBA Degree
b. Continue for one more year and take BBA (Hons.)
c. Continue for Two Years and take MBA
Fourth year offers unique research driven module for students who want to exit with
BBA (Hons.). The students who continue for MBA are exposed to seven application-
oriented specialisations namely Infrastructure Management, Business analytics,
Supply Chain Management, Management Consulting, People and
Communications, Marketing Analytics and Digital Strategies, and Financial
Strategies.
DURATION AND ORGANISATION
The programme duration is of five years. It is organised into ten semesters with
suitable breaks. Each Semester is devoted to classroom learning, acquiring hands-
on experience in practice workshops, developing passion for research and
innovation through projects and immersion programmes. After the completion of ten
semesters, the student will be awarded an MBA degree. In case a student wants to
exit the programme after the 4th year with a BBA (Hons.) degree, the student has to
complete a research project in addition to the total credit requirements of the fourth
year. A student can also choose to exit the programme at the end of the third year
with a BBA degree.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
The curriculum is organised into ten semesters. A student will need to complete 210
credits to complete the I-MBA Programme. To exit the programme with a BBA
(Hons.) degree, a student will need to complete (126+42=168) credits in eight
semesters. To exit the programme as a BBA graduate, a student will need to
complete 126 credits in six semesters.
i. Courses
One Credit involves 15 contact hours. The courses may have tutorial / practical
component for hands on training. The courses are divided into various categories
to ensure all-round development of the student and providing adequate breadth
and depth of knowledge. The courses are divided into categories such as Cores,
Electives, Multidisciplinary, Ability Enhancement, Skill Enhancement, Value added
courses, internships and Projects. Apart from that, there are Massive Online Open
Courses (MOOC) as part of the curriculum to inculcate habit of life-long learning,
Project based and immersive (Ability Enhancement) courses to bring about
experiential learning. Apart from that there are Work Based Learning (WLB) via
project work, immersion programmes and internships as part of the curriculum to
true inculcate habit of Self learning.
ii. Project Work
A student has to complete multiple projects during the entire duration of the
project. The student is expected to work on a problem to apply the knowledge
acquired during their study. The student will be allotted a mentor by the NICMAR
University for mini projects and a guide for dissertation projects. If the student
chooses to have an external guide or mentor from outside, NICMAR university
will nominate one of the internal faculty members as a co-guide.
iii. Immersion Programmes
In the course of five years, the students will have to partake different kinds of
immersion programmes. These immersion programmes enable students with a
sense of social awareness and social responsibility as well as make them work
closely with any small business unit so as to understand the business
environment.
iv. Internship
As part of the curriculum, each student has to undergo supervised field trainings
with reputed organisations. During this period, they may be trained in any
specialised management domain or function. Organisations for internship are
carefully selected from among the reputed firms. Based on their performance,
students may receive Pre-Placement Offers (PPO). Alternatively, students may
opt for working on assignment-based project topic under the guidance of a
faculty member. Students will be required to submit a report of their internship
and make a presentation on the same.
PEDAGOGY
NICMAR University believes that the method of instruction to maximise learning may
vary from course to course, and therefore, uses a host of pedagogical approaches in
different courses such as case studies, lectures, group and individual exercises,
class projects and simulation of business environment to enrich the overall
programme delivery. Site visits are organised as and when required. Depending on
the type of the course, the total credits in the courses are further classified in Lecture
(L), Tutorial (T) and Practical (P). In the lecture sessions, the students are
familiarized with concepts and knowledge pertaining to the course. The tutorial
components aid the students in better understanding of the concepts through
problem solving, case analysis or hands on practice. The practical component is
designed for exclusive hands-on training. In addition, there are Ability Enhancement
courses and self-study courses in which the students are expected to explore new
concepts and develop their skills and understanding through open courses or other
activities which are recognized by NICMAR Business School. The courses will be
mentored by internal faculty members to allow an immersive learning experience for
the students.
FACULTY
Faculty is the foundation on which NICMAR University programmes are designed to
grow. Therefore, careful attention is paid to attract the best talent from the academic
world as well as industry. The courses are taught by expert faculty members of the
University, eminent professionals from the industry from all over the country, and
visiting experts from Indian and foreign universities as well as international
organisations.
ASSESSMENT
i. Course Examination
The course examination comprises two parts: Term end examination and
Continuous Internal Assessment. The weightage for the same is given below.

Certain courses may be evaluated entirely on the basis of Continuous Internal
Assessment.
ii. Project work
A student does multiple projects during the entire programme. Interim projects are
evaluated by internal faculty members and/or guide. The Final project is carried out by
the students during the final year and is evaluated by guide and an external expert. Non-
submission of project work on time is not acceptable. A candidate is not considered to
have completed the programme unless they submit the project report and is judged as
satisfactory and given the required ratings by the examiner/s appointed for the purpose.
iii. Failure Cases
NICMAR University’s programmes are highly demanding to which students of a high
calibre are admitted through a rigorous evaluation. It is therefore expected that no
student fails in any subject. Students unable to score 40% marks in the internal and
term end examinations separately in a course will be declared failed in that course. If
any student fails to obtain the minimum passing marks in any subject, their overall result
will be withheld. Such a student will have to re-appear for examination by paying the re-
examination fee of Rs. 2000/- per subject and obtain the minimum passing marks so as
to qualify in the course. If the students wish to get their examination paper/s re-
evaluated, then this can be done on payment of the re-evaluation fees of Rs. 1000/- per
paper.
iv. Grading System
Evaluation will be done on a semester basis. At the end of every semester, a Semester
Performance Index (SPI) and Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) will be calculated.
Students should clear all courses for meeting the requirements of the programme.

AWARD
On successful completion of five years, the eligible student will be awarded BBA and
MBA (Dual Degree) in the chosen specialisation. A student opting to exit at the end
of third year will be awarded BBA degree and students opting for a fourth-year exit
will be awarded BBA (Hons.) Degree in the chosen specialization. Student needs to
fulfil all the requirements as per university academic regulations.
STUDENT DEVELOPMENT
NICMAR University has a number of schemes in place to provide full or partial
financial support to a variety of student activities. The university strongly believes
that co & extra-curricular activities significantly contribute to the all-round
development of its students.
