16. As part of a science lesson, pupils were asked to stretch a spring to extend its
length by 25 per cent. The original length of the spring was 30 centimeters. What
should be the length of the extended spring? Give your answer in centimeters.

17. Sixteen men working 9 hours a day can complete a piece of work in 14 days.
How many more men working 7 hours a day would complete the same job in 12

A) 3 taps X,Y and Z can fill a tank in 40 hours, 15 hours and 20 hours
respectively.
The three taps are turned on at 8.00a.m when the tank is empty for five hours
then Z is turned off. After two hours tap Y is turned off. Work out;-

(c)If there is another map, where the same distance of 56 km is represented by 4
cm, find the
scale of this new map.

A. On the last day of school, pupils were allowed to bring some snacks to share
with each other.5 pupils brought 3 apples each,6 pupils brought 2 bananas each,
and 3 pupils brought 4 nectarines each. How many pieces of fruit were there to
share?

B. The map distance between two towns is 4.2cm, and the actual distance between
the two towns in a straight line is 84km. Calculate the map scale (5Marks)
C. A Tom, Dick and Harry own shares in their company in the ratio 3:5:7. If the
total value of the shares is ksh 10,500. What value of shares would Harry need to
give Tom for all three to own the shares equally?
