TRAINING PROPOSAL

TITLE: Improvement on Post Harvests Handling and


Distribution System on Sorting, Packing and Shipping of
GAP Pineapple Fruits

PARTICIPANTS: GAP Pineapple Farmers

BUDGETARY: ₱54,000.00

FUND SOURCE: LPMPC

DURATION: Two (2 ) days Training

RATIONALE:
Farming is a hard labor and farmers is below the average income and also production is
too difficult due to high cost of Agricultural inputs and the price is low during marketing of their
produce due to insufficient knowledge on Post Harvest Technique during shipping of GAP
Fruits of Pineapple under current situation the quality of transported pineapple in fully loaded
trucks and the wasted almost 30-50 % damage during transportation to increases income and
produce good quality of GAP fruits of pineapple during transport, Proper Post Harvest, Handling
and Food Safety is important and to lessen the percentage damage and waste during transport
shall have proper sorting, packing and shipping of fruits to gain profit.
The fruits must be shipped and packed properly to avoid damaged and less labor cost and
that can increase income and provide high quality of agri-product by knowing the need of
consumers and can demand high price and to compete with imported products.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
1. Camarines Norte of Queen Pineapple is a champion commodity in the Market, the DOLE
and Dizon Farm are the buyers but with Standards, specifically with GAP practice.
2. There are 125 GAP Farmers – registered and applicants for GAP certification
3. The training aims to enhance the Post Harvest Technology with proper handling and
marketing of GAP pineapple fruits.
4. Participants are Certified GAP Pineapples in the province of Camarines Norte.
5. To lessen the percentage of losses and damage during Pot Harvest and transport of
Pineapple. There are 125 GAP Farmers - Registered and
OBJECTIVES:
1. To train gap farmers on Post Harvest Handling and Food Safety
2. To learn farmers to lessen the percentage damage and waste during transport
3. To increase income and deliver GAP Pineapple produce good quality
Standard of GAP Fruits during transport
4. Familiarize on grading, sorting, packaging & transporting of quality fruits and Food
Safety.
TARGET PARTICIPANTS:
Thirty-five (35) farmers will be invited with GAP Certification and GAP farmers
applicants & Farms for certification in different LGU’s member of LPMPC Cooperative.

METHODOLOGY:
a) lecture, discussion and hands on participation
b) participatory approach learning by doing
c) Practicum

BUDGETARY REQUIREMENT:
1. Venue & Sound System - ₱ 5,000
One (1) Meals & Two (2) snacks -
2. Lunch - ₱350.00/per hd/day X 35pax X 2 days = ₱ 24, 500.00
3. Snack - ₱150.00/per hd/day X 35pax X 2 days = ₱ 21,000.00
4. Token to Resource Person = ₱ 3,500.00
Total P 54,000.00

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
o Trained and familiarized post-harvest handling with good quality standard of fruits of
GAP Pineapple.
o Increase income with proper handling good quality product during transport.
o Produce good quality fruit on proper handling & food safety.
