HEALTHY-HARVEST INTEGRATED FARM INCORPORATED

BRIEF HISTORY

Anucukan is a 2.2 Ha agricultural Land situated at the very heart of Pinukpuk Junction,
Pinukpuk, Kalinga. Acquired in 2010 from the Bayongan Family.
When they first began their work on the land in 2018, they encountered numerous
uncertainties. The land lay barren, devoid of trees or vegetation, with only the sounds of
the wind and birds. Despite discouraging remarks from neighbors and the challenges of
thunderstorms, drenching rains, and scorching sun, their optimism never wavered. Even
as they toiled late into the night under the moonlight, their conviction remained
unshakeable.

A Juris Doctor, Ms. Alma Mae Bangelan- Cortez, the owner and administrator of the
farm recall feeling belittled. She remembers struggling with depression after failing the
BAR examination twice in the years 2017 and 2018. On one occasion, she was even
called "Nengneng" (dumb) by one of her relatives. Feeling lost, she was invited by Mr.
Honorio Clemencia, the administrator and farm owner of Clemencia’s Farm at Balong
Kalinga, to attend a scholarship program on Agricultural Crop Production. Despite being
oblivious to the agriculture industry, she saw this as an opportunity, and in 2019, she
started LAB Mushroom Farm located in Laya West, Tabuk, Kalinga with the
encouragement and support from the Department of Trade and Industry Kalinga.

However, the mushroom industry was challenged by the pandemic in 2020. The great
beginning for their mushroom project almost came to an end. But lo and behold,
the Healthy-Harvest Integrated Farm, located in Junction, Pinukpuk, has emerged.
With a strong desire to become successful agroentrepreneur, they
started to work on the pasture land she had purchased from her uncle with minimal
funds, who was eager to sell it off due to its reputation as unproductive and uncultivable.
The primary issue was the lack of water, making agricultural production extremely
challenging. Thus, they came up with the plan to make the land productive, planting
fruit-bearing trees, and gave a solution to the water system problem. The family worked
together early in the morning and sometimes late at night, using a tarp or “trapal” as
their family shade and sleeping area whenever they worked during nighttime, with the
moon as their guide.

Healthy-Harvest Integrated Farm was once called ANUCUKAN. It derived its name
from the owner’s motivation to educate the Ikalingas for them to HARVEST HEALTHY
KNOWLEDGE and become sustainable and resilient.
