INTRODUCTION
Geosynthetics are synthetic products used to stabilize terrain. They

are generally polymeric products used to solve civil engineering problems. This

includes eight main product categories: geotextiles, geogrids, geonets,

geomembranes, geosynthetic clay liners, geofoam, geocells and geocomposites.

The polymeric nature of the products makes them suitable for use in the ground

where high levels of durability are required. They can also be used in exposed

applications. Geosynthetics are available in a wide range of forms and materials.

These products have a wide range of applications and are currently used in many

civil, geotechnical, transportation, geoenvironmental, hydraulic, and private

development applications including roads, airfields, railroads, and embankments,

retaining structures, reservoirs, canals, dams, erosion control, sediment control,

landfill liners, landfill covers, mining, aquaculture and agriculture.

➢ What Is Design Thinking?

Geosynthetics are artificial synthetic materials in the shape of strips,

sheets, or three-dimensional structures constructed of polymeric or natural

materials. They are simple to prepare and transport, and they can aid in the

greening of construction projects. When used in construction, they serve five

critical functions separation, reinforcement, filtration, drainage, and containment.

Design think in is a formal method for practical, creative resolution of

problems and creation Of solutions, with the intent of an improved future result.

In this regard it is a form of solution - Based or solution-focused thinking starting

with a goal (a better future – situation) instead of Solving a specific problem

➢ GENERAL:-

Geosynthetics are man-made materials used to improve soil conditions.

The word is derived from: Geo = earth or soil + Synthetics = man-made

➢ OBJECTIVE :-

1. Separation

2. Filtration

3. Reinforcement

4. Protection
➢ AEIOU Summery
A – Activities
E – Environment
I – Interaction
O – Objects
U – Users

1. Activities
- We have mentioned all the activities.
2. Environment
- All over site condition of the people and environment of the field.
3. Interactions
- What is the nature of routine and special interactions between people and

objects in their environment, and across distances?

- We have mentioned the interaction between field workers related to the

construction site.
4. Objects
- We have mentioned all the objects for Geosynthetics.
5. Users

- We mentioned our Users to relate for the Geosynthetics.

➢ Mind Mapping

- A mind map involves writing down a central theme and thinking of new and

related ideas which radiate out from the centre. By focusing on key ideas

written down in your own words and looking for connections between them,

you can map knowledge in a way that will help you to better understand and

retain information.

- Mind mapping is a way of linking key concepts using images, lines and

links. A central concept is linked via lines to other concepts which in turn are

linked with other associated ideas.

➢ Ideation Canvas

- First of all we mentioned people that interact with Geosynthetics. We

mentioned stakeholders.

- That used in empathy mapping. New people also we added in that canvas.

1. People

- After that we mentioned activities of people.

2. Activities

- After writing activities we observed activities based on situation, context,

and location.
3. SITUATION/CONTEXT/LOCATION
- We list out following situation, context and location.

4. Props/Tools/Object/Equipment

- We are collect the props, tools, equipment and objects to use and work in

Geosynthetics field work.

➢ Empathy Canvas

1. Users
- The People Who Use the Geosynthetics on Field.

\
2. Stakeholder
- We Mentioned Our Stakeholder For Geosynthetics To Use on Field.
3. Activities
- After this, we observed activities of stakeholders who are connected with

user. Some of activities are mentioned as following.

4. Story Boarding

• Happy Story:-
- - Simple and easy to understand. Rapid installation/ less skilled labour. Easy

to repair.

- - To use in construction site on field to improve strength of structure.

• Happy Story:-
- - They are lighter in weight, this makes for easier handing and laying on site

- - Construction is easy and speedy. No noise Pollution and Eco-friendly.

Story Boarding

• Sad Story :-
- The exposed lifetime of Geosynthetics being polymer, is less than unexposed

as when they are soil backfilled, Excavated soil wasted.

• Sad Story :-

- Handling, Storage, Carrying and installation must be assumed by careful

quality control and quality assurance. Plastic results in 100% runoff.

➢ Product Development Canvas

- Now arrive the important part of design process. We have to design a

product based on a key solution. A key solution accordingly to our

understanding was a solution which solves a key problem.

- In this canvas, we mentioned purpose of our domain, product function and

features, product experience, components.

1. Purpose
2. Product Experience
- We ask the field workers for giving feedback of our topic. We got following

feedback from other teams.

3. People
- We Mentioned Our People for Geosynthetics.
4. Components

- We Mentioned Our Components for Geosynthetics.

5. Customer Revalidation
- We ask our group members and other team members to discuss our project

and overall review for Geosynthetics.

6. Reject, Redesign, Retain
- Talked review for our group members and other teams for project retain,

redesign or reject.
➢ Learning Needs Matrix (L.N.M.)

- We mentioned in LNM for Tools, Methods, Software’s, Skills and Design

Specifications, Standards, Component Material, Strength for Geosynthetics

work in Field.
➢ Types Of Geosynthetics mats
➢ Geotextile
CONCLUSION

It is essential to made the use of Polymer Geo- synthetics mandatory in India in

order to have increased efficiency with potential large cost saving, safety of

structures and minimum environmental pollution including large saving of

natural resources.
