Chapter – 1: Introduction

1.1 General Introduction

 Priyank Shah : He is leader of our team. He is very active & passionate about his work.
 Umang Dubey : He is from Ahmadabad. He is very innovative thinking person.
 Yashwant Ratad: He is from Ahmedabad. He is good at research on internet.
 Harsh Kapadia : He is from Ahmedabad. He is very hardworking person in our team.
 Vishal Parmar : He is very smart in his work
 Vandit Vora: He is good at communication.
 Prof Akash Desai : He gave us specific guidance for selection of topic as well as for
designing of project and innovative ideas.
1.2 Objective of the Project

About Design Engineering: Engineering is a branch of science and technology where society
expects lots of innovation and creativity of engineers. But today’s education system has become
very stereotype which just follow the traditional teaching learning process. This need to be
changed in order to have maximum contribution from engineering student to the society.
Design engineering is an initiative taken by Gujarat Technology University in this
direction with the help and guidance of the professors of IITs and the GTU innovation council
we are looking ahead in moving on the path of innovation.
Design engineering is a general term that covers multiple engineering disciplines
including chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aeronautical
engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, information technology and structural/
building/ architectural engineers. The uniting concept is a focus on applying the “Engineering
design process, in which engineers develop new product or process with a primary emphasis on
functional utility.”
While industrial designers may be responsible for the conceptual aesthetic and
ergonomic aspects of a design, the design engineer usually works with a team of engineers and
other designers to desktop conceptual and detailed designs. They may work industrial designers
and marketers to develop the product concept and specification, and may direct the design
effort.
Chapter – 2: Empathy Mapping

2.1 Observation through AEIOU and other methods

 It is a process of observation of project. There are five parts in the sheet.
 It basically will contain observation by means of…notes, photograph, and sketch.
1. Activities :-
 Interaction with Tourists, Visitors
2. Environment :-
 Normal Weather, etc.
3. Interaction
 People Issue, Traffic problem, Maintenance.
4. Objects
 To study Adalaj Step well
5. Users
 Local residents, students, Common People, visitors, tourists, etc.

2.2 Role Playing

Role-playing techniques can help in developing and determining the interaction between user
and product. In a role-playing technique, designers perform the tasks of the interaction by
means of re-enactment. Role-playing is just like theatre acting: by acting out the tasks the user
has to perform, you reach a better understanding of the complexity is reached, and different
ideas for the interaction can be developed. One of the major advantages of using role-playing is
that the entire body is used; this is more like real interaction as compared to using storyboards
or scenarios. With role-playing techniques the tangibility of the interaction can be explored, as
well as the appearance and attractiveness of elegant movements. Also, by role-playing you can
simulate an interaction walk-through. In Design Engineering Role Playing is important so that
we can understand about the user and their act.
AEIOU Canvas

2.4 Empathy Canvas

User:
In this stage, we can find users which are directly or indirectly connected with our
project.
Our users are as under,
 Tourists
 Students
 Local residents
 Common People

Stakeholder:
Stakeholders mean a person or an organization with an interest. In this stage, we can find
the user who will directly or indirectly.

Stakeholder who are related with user for this project are as under,

 Four wheeler
 Tour and travel
 Two wheelers

Activity:
Activities are directly or indirectly related to stakeholders or users.

 Overall survey
 Parking
 Maintenance
 Interaction

Story Boarding:-

There are some happy and sad stories are given under:

Happy Story: - We are happy that we got a beautiful and ancient place to study.

Happy Story:- We are that we studied ancient structure to study.

Sad Story:- We are sad because of getting less visiting interaction.

Sad Story:-. We are because this place is getting decayed.

2.5 Mind Mapping (Data Analysis)
A Mind Map is a graphical way to represent ideas and concepts. It is a visual thinking
tool that helps structuring information, helping you to better analyze, comprehend,
synthesize, recall and generate new ideas.
Chapter -3: Ideation Canvas

These is the second step of the project, from first canvas, you have an idea what are the
people? In the ideation canvas, you have to carry out which type of activities is related to your
project? What is situation and location regarding to activities? Then after you find the possible
solutions, if it depends or not to your activities.

1. People:-
 Travelers
 Students
 Visitors

2. Activities:-
 Photography
 Observation
 Communication
 Reviewing

3. Situation/Context/Location:-

In this stage we define the location or situation where our product can be used.
This are given as under,

 Historic Place
 Inconvenience in rainy season
 Lack of Instructor

4. Possible solutions/props:-

In this stage we show about possible solutions using this product.

 Proper Guidance
 Water Regulations
 Maintenance
 Proper Parking
Chapter-4: LNM Canvas

Learning Needs Matrix will help students to identify the learning

requirements at an early stage along with prioritization of specific learning
along with defined time duration/ time allocation for each learning priority.
Chapter-4: Product Development Canvas
Third step is development of product. From possible solutions, you have the idea about
what product is about? In this canvas, the purpose of the product, its user, their feedback, features
and functions of the product, customer revalidation are shown.

1. Purpose:-

In this stage we give the purpose for developing this product.

Purpose for developing this product is given as under,

 Traffic control
 Accident Issue
 Safety
 Comfort

2. People:-

In this stage a people are come who use this product

 Labours
 Traffic police
 Visitors
 Students

3. Product Experience:-

In this stage we show the experience of people Well who use this product.

 Very safe
 Comfortable
 Less time
4. Product function:-

In this stage we give you information about product function.

 Traffic control
 Used in emergency

5. Product features:-

In this stage we give you an introduction about features of this product.

 Signal
 Bridge
 Speed braker
 Divider
 Service road

6. Product components:-

In this stage we give the info about product components which are used in this
product.

 Road roller
 Aggregate
 Theodolite
 Bituminous
Conclusion: -
- As traffic is heavy in city area day by day , so there are lots of people who
are suffers from heavy traffic .
- There are many negative points of heavy traffic like they can’t reach in time,
Suffers from polluted air from vehicle, feeling heats from engines in
traffic, some time reach late in office , school ,college, etc.
- So we have to make the best solution for particular area depends upon the
traffic in that area.
- And We make the best soltion for pakwan circle on SG highway.
