Windshear A330

The document provides detailed information on windshear alerts and recognition, including systems like LLWAS and PWS. It outlines procedures for pilots when encountering windshear, including callouts and actions to take during different flight phases. Additionally, it explains the implications of ALPHA FLOOR and the automatic thrust settings in response to windshear conditions.

ADVANTAGE
– GS Mini function
– AOA protection
– FPA

DISADVANTAGE
– Normal Law tries to keep trajectory
– Aircraft always in trim
– No tactile feedback via Sidestick

WINDSHEAR CALL OUTS
WHEN WINDSHEAR ENCOUNTERED:
PF: “WINDSHEAR TOGA”
efectuará el callout “OUT OF WINDSHEAR”, dando término al
procedimiento.
IMPORTANTE: Una vez fuera del windshear, recuerde que si se aplico
TOGA o si es que se activo ALPHA FLOOR quedando el ATHR en TOGA
LOCK (TOGA LK), el avion comenzará a acelerar rapidamente.

WHEN OUT OF WINDSHEAR
If the aircraft’s AOA increased BEYOND a threshold called ALPHA FLOOR,
which means that the A/C has decelerated a lot (below ALPHA PROT speed),
the ATHR is set ON automatically and sends TOGA thrust, regardless of
thrust lever position. When the speed decreases so that AOA reaches the
ALPHA FLOOR threshold, ATHR engages and sends TOGA thrust despite the
fact that the thrust levers are in Idle position.

- FMA displays TOGA LK, meaning that TOGA thrust is locked.

-The only way to recover the desired thrust is to set ATHR OFF.
-Remember that once out of windshear the airplane will start to accelerate
rapidly.

PWS Principle
• Automatic
– aircraft below 2300 ft AGL
– Radar ON or OFF
• Alert (ICON and/or AURAL) if
– SHEAR detected within 5 NM
– At or below 1500 ft AGL
• PWS Alerts. 3 types of alert levels:
– ADVISORY
– CAUTION
– WARNING
• Function of:
– Aircraft altitude
– Flight phase
• Take-off
• Landing
PWS: Predictive windshear
– Proximity of the microburst warning
