Lesson Plan (Asean Integration)

This lesson plan focuses on the respiratory system for Science 9 students, aiming for 75% proficiency in identifying its parts, explaining breathing, and creating a model. The lesson incorporates the 7E's instructional strategy and includes activities such as group modeling and assessments on the respiratory system's functions and components. Students will also research respiratory disorders as an assignment to enhance their understanding of the topic.

7E'S SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 9

SCHOOLl: EASTERN SAMAR STATE UNIVERSITY CAN-AVID

COOPERATING TEACHER: DR. EDNA V. RONCALES

STUDENT TEACHER: JEZREEL DALIT PORTON

I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson the students are expected to

learn 75% proficiency level:
A. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Identify the main parts of the respiratory
system
2. Explain the process of breathing
3. Create a model of human respiratory system

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. TOPIC Respiratory System

B. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS Visual Aid, Printed Pictures, and Cartolina

C. REFERENCE Science Textbook

D. VALUES INTEGRATION Cooperation and Respect

E. STRATEGY 7E's Approach

F. TIME DURATION 45 minutes

"PICK A NUMBER"
B. DRILL
Mechanics

● Student will be pick a number and in that number

have a corresponding question and the students
will answer that question.

ENGAGE

C. MOTIVATION The learning objectives will be presented for the

students to know what will be expected from them.

Afterward, students will do this activity.

"LABEL ME WITH A TWIST"

The teacher will be divide the class into two groups

then the students will play the game.

Mechanics:

 To start, one person at a time will match their

hands and feet to the first row of pictures.
 Continue making your way down to the rows by
matching your hands and feet to the correct
pictures,
 This will require you to move you body and
alternate the position of your hands and feet.
EXPLORE

D. LEARNING DELIVERY MOOD The teacher will divide the class into two (2) group. To
divide the class, each student will pick a piece of paper
inside the box that represent their group.

"MODEL IT"

■ The two groups will be given a task for them to

accomplish.

■ The task is to make a respiratory model.

■ The students is only given 8 minutes to make the

model and 2 minutes to present their work and
they will explain the process of breathing.

 Materials:
 3 Balloons
 2 Plastic Straws
 1 Disposable cup
 Duct Tape
 Scissor

Instructions:

1. Place a straw about 1/4 of the way into a balloon,

rolling the stem around the straw and taping it for a
seal.

2. Repeat for the second balloon.

3. Cut two holes in the water bottle top, large enough

for the straws.

4. Insert the straws through the holes and tape them

securely.

5. Cut the bottle about 3/4 of the way from the top,
taping the edges.

6. Cut off 1/3 of the third balloon and stretch the

remaining part over the bottle's bottom, taping it
securely.

7. Screw the bottle top onto the bottle, placing the

balloons inside.

EXPLAIN

The teacher will allow the students to present their

work to the class. They are sharing the ideas about the
activity. (The teacher will start the discussion).

The respiratory system is a complex biological network

responsible for the exchange of gases between an
organism and its environment. It plays a critical role in
maintaining homeostasis by supplying oxygen for
cellular respiration and removing carbon dioxide, a
metabolic byproduct

Main Components of the Respiratory System

1. Nasal Cavity and Sinuses

Function: The nasal cavity is the primary entry point for

air. It filters, warms, and humidifies incoming air to
optimize conditions for gas exchange in the lungs.

2. Pharynx (Throat)

Function: A shared pathway for air and food, the

pharynx directs air to the larynx while preventing food
from entering the respiratory system

3. Larynx (Voice Box)

Function: Directs air into the trachea.

Houses the vocal cords, enabling speech.

Contains the epiglottis, which prevents food from

entering the airway.

4. Trachea (Windpipe)

Function: A flexible tube that conducts air to the

bronchi while keeping the airway open.

5. Bronchi and Bronchioles

Function: The bronchi branch into the lungs, further

dividing into bronchioles, which distribute air to all
parts of the lungs.

6. Alveoli

Function: Sites of gas exchange. Oxygen diffuses into

the blood, and carbon dioxide diffuses out.

7. Lungs

Function: The primary organs of respiration, responsible

for housing alveoli and facilitating gas exchange.

8. Diaphragm and Intercostal Muscles

Function: Facilitate breathing through contraction and

relaxation.
In conclusion, the respiratory system is a marvel of
biological engineering that sustains life through its
intricate structures and processes. Understanding its
components and functions is essential for appreciating
its role in health and disease.
