the number of students in the class and also find the donated amount of each student.

A shop gives 20% discount. What would the scale price of each of these be?
(a) A dress marked at Rs. 120
(b) A pair of shoes marked at Rs. 750
(c) A bag marked at Rs. 250
24. Simplify.
(i) (x + y)(2x + y) + (x + 2y)(x – y)
(ii) (x + y)(x2 – xy + y2)

25. Two persons could fit new windows in a house in 3 days.


(i) One of the persons fell ill before the work started. How long would the job take now?
(ii) How many persons would be needed to fit the windows in one day?

26. Mary wants to decorate her Christmas tree. She wants to place the tree on a wooden box covered
with coloured paper with picture of Santa Claus on it (see the below figure). She must know the
exact quantity of paper to buy for this purpose. The box has length, breadth and height as 80 cm,
40 cm and 20 cm respectively and she wants to use square sheets of paper of side 40 cm for the
decoration.

Answer the following questions based on the above information:


(i) Find the total surface area of the box.
(ii) Find the area of each sheet of the paper.
(iii) Find the volume of the box.

27. Factorise the expressions and divide them as directed.
