The good stuff
This pattern may not look like the other patterns that you have used. That's because this pattern
is more fun and easier to read than other patterns (okay, I actually can't say that with any
authority, but it's certainly been fun for me). I have tried to make sure that it's easy to follow and
a fun project for makers at any skill level.
Have fun, and remember that mistakes are wonderful and frustrating opportunities to master
your craft.
Foundation:
You are crocheting around the hair elastic. Start by tying your yarn onto the elastic, then do a
slip stitch so that your hook is on.
Round 1:
You will be crocheting into the hair elastic, and intentionally making the scrunchie curl and have
a ‘lettuce’ edge. This is done by overfilling the elastic with stitches.
Double crochet at least 20 stitches onto the elastic. There is no set measurement for this, but
you want to fit as many as you can onto the elastic. Slip stitch into the first stitch to complete
the round.
Round 2:
Chain 3. Stitch 4 treble crochet into each stitch until you have reached the end. Slip stitch into
the first stitch to close the round.
Sew in the ends with your darning needle. Tie off as you prefer, and snip off the ends.
                                                                                              3
