Name: _____________________________ Course/Blk: ________ Date: __________ Score: _______
Direction: For problem solving, use excels in computing the answers. For items no. 1-2, one to three
sentences is enough as long as it is direct to the point or straightforward.
1. The second major area of inference is hypothesis testing. Here are some of important
details that you need to explain or describe(11 points):
Statistical hypothesis (3 points)
Null hypothesis (3 points)
Alternative hypothesis (3 points)
Level of significance at 0.05 (2 points)
2. What is Chi-square and its use (7 points)?
3. Examination scores for 18 employees(16 points)

76 74 69
71 69 75
85 82 67
Solve the Sum of Squares, Mean Squares, and set up ANOVA Table at alpha level .05 level of
significance. And compare it with the P values .003.

1. The second major area of inference is hypothesis testing. Here are some of important
details that you need to explain or describe (11 points):
Statistical hypothesis (3 points) – is an assertion concerning one or more
populations.
Null hypothesis (3 points) – is a hypothesis of no difference.
Alternative hypothesis (3 points) – also called research hypothesis. The rejection
of null hypothesis leads to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis.
Level of significance at 0.05 (2 points) – is the probability that the null hypothesis
will be rejected in error when it is true.
2. What is Chi-square and its uses (7 points)? A chi-square is used to determine the
differences between the observed and expected frequencies.
3. Examination scores for 18 employees(16 points)
