Start By: c.
a. Remove the service brake (wheel spindle).

1. Remove bolts (1). Remove retainer (2) from wheel spindle (3).

Note: Note the quantity and the order of shims (4).
2. Remove shims (4).

3. Remove sprocket (5).

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled


by a released spring force.

Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended


tooling to release the spring force.

4. Remove bearing (8).

5. Remove bolts (6).

6. Remove cover (7).

7. Remove O-ring seal (10).

8. Remove bearing cup (9) from cover (7).

Note: Note the quantity and the order of plates (12) and discs (13) for assembly purposes.

9. Remove springs (11). Remove plates (12) and discs (13).

10. Remove O-ring (14).

11. Remove hub (15). Remove piston assembly (16).

12. Remove seals (17) from wheel housing (18).

13. Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) to housing (18). The weight of housing (18) is
approximately 50 kg (110 lb). Remove housing (18). Position housing (18) onto suitable
blocking.

14. Remove Duo-Cone seal (19). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Duo-Cone Conventional
Seals - Remove".
15. Remove bearing cup (20).

16. Remove compensator (22) and indicator (21).

17. Remove bleeder (23).

18. Remove elbow adapter (24).

19. Remove nut (22A) and O-rings seal (25) from compensator (22) and indicator (21).

20. Remove Duo-Cone seal (26). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Duo-Cone Conventional
Seals - Remove".

21. Use Tooling (B) to remove bearing cone (28).

22. Remove spacer (29). Note orientation of spacer (29) for installation purposes. Taper side of
spacer (29) goes toward bearing cone (28.)
