Science Olympiad Codebusters Aristocrat Practace Test
Timed Question [75 points] Welcome to Nic's Very Evil Codebusters Practice Packet. The First question of any Codebusters test is a Timed
Question. The timed question is very lucritive, earning 1200 extra points based on how fast you can solve it. Once you can solve it, you will get
to have your answer checked and your time recorded.
A few notes for any code: 1) You DO NOT need to fill in the frequency table below, just the answer. 2) On a test, you dont need to answer every
question. Be strategic in choosing your questions. 3) We get to work together. If you cant figure out what a word is, you should ask your
teamates for help.
This Cipher: We will start out nice and easy. This Quote by Albert Einstein is a K1 Aristocrat without a keyword. A K1 without a keyword means it
is basically just a shift cipher, meaning that you must shift each letter a certian offset. Since this is your first code, I will give you a hint, Ciphertext
H decodes to plaintext C.
When you have solved it, raise your hand so that the time can be recorded and the solution checked.

1) [122 points] Good Job (Assuming that you got that last code correct) This code by Martin Luther King Jr. is also a K1 Aristocrat without a
keyword. Now for this code, I am not going to tell you the offset. Here are some tips: 1) The only 2 letter words are I and A. That alone should
give you enough information to figure out the answer. Now it is time to look at your cheat sheet, there should be an English Letter Frequency
Table. Those show the most common English letters. That means that the more common letters in the code are more likely to be the most
common English letters.
Good Luck

3) [166 points] Time to start adding keywords. With a keyword, there is a keyword enclosed within the frequency table followed by the
alphabet without those letters. For this code, I have went ahead and filled in the frequency table so you can see how it works. This quote by
Martin Luther King Jr. has been encrpypted with a K1 Aristocrat with a keyword of “CODE” and an off set of 4
