COURSE DESIGN

COURSE TITLE : WHEEL LOADER OPERATION NC II

NOMINAL DURATION : 156 Hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION :

This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes to gather
interpret and convey information in response to workplace requirement; to identify role and
responsibility as a member of a team; to promote career growth and advancement; to
comply with regulatory and organizational requirements for occupational health and safety;
services to specification of materials; on requesting and receiving construction materials
and tools; on identifying and measuring objects; on checking and performing preventive
maintenance including storing of tools and equipment; on identifying, interpreting, on
analyzing and interpreting symbols, data and workplace; applying in Wheel Loader
operation and in accordance with industry standards. It covers core competencies such as
perform Wheel Loader pre- and post procedures; perform Wheel Loader equipment
operation; and perform basic preventive maintenance for Wheel Loader.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS :

Candidate/trainee must posses the following qualification:

● Can communicate both orally and in written form

● At least 18 years of age

● Holder of professional driver’s license

● Physically and mentally fit

● With good moral character

● Can perform basic mathematical computations

● Appropriate basic hand tools and equipment are used as per job requirements.

● Basic preventive maintenance servicing is carried out in accordance


with manufacturers and or as per job requirement.

● Use of personal protective equipment.

● Familiarization on basic hand tools and equipment.

● Familiarization on OS parts

● Performing basic preventive maintenance for wheel loader.

Upon completion of the module the trainees/student should be able

LO1. Perform loading and unloading of wheel loader to and from truck/trailer (low bed).

LO2. Perform wheel loader operations.

LO1. PERFORM LOADING AND UNLOADING OF WHEEL LOADER TO AND FROM
TRUCK/TRAILER (LOW BED)

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

● Low bed trailer for transporting the wheel loader are considered according to
equipment specification.
● Coordination and communication are maintained with authorized signalman
while loading/unloading.
● Wheel loader is loaded/unloaded using adequate ramp based on safe
operating procedures.
● All safety locks and controls are secured based on operations and maintenance
manual.
● Rested bucket properly based on safe work procedure (Loaded).

● Tracks (UC) or wheels are secured with stopper blocks and binders (loaded).

● Control and brakes are checked in line with safety procedures prior to
starting, loading/unloading the machine from the low bed trailer.
● Stopper blocks and binder are removed prior to unloading of the machine.

● Bucket is raised based on safe unloading procedures.

● Responded to unexpected situations in line with company rules and regulation


in a manner that minimizes risks to personnel and equipment.

CONTENTS:

● Safety practices on loading and unloading procedures

● Proper tie-down procedures of the equipment

● Observation of company rules and regulations

above ground during transport of earth materials and according to safe
operating procedures.
● Machine travel in accordance with work area condition.

● Loading operation to dump truck is performed according to safe


operating procedure
● Load is carried within bucket capacity.

● Recommended dump height/clearance is followed in loading material to


dump truck based on manufacturer’s recommendations.
● Unexpected situations are responded to in line with company rules and
regulations.
