PRE-LESSON
2. Pupils sequence the words in the 2 titles in the right order.
3. Pupils discuss as a class why the titles use the passive and how to form the present simple passive.
4. Pupils are divided into 2 big groups. One half is given “How paper is recycled” worksheet and the other half
“How glass is recycled” worksheet.
5. Each half has to match 5 steps to the correct pictures.
6. Pupils discuss answers as a class to each worksheet.
7. The titles of the 2 texts are written on the board together with the key nouns and base words for each step
LESSON (e.g. How paper is recycled step 1: Paper + take + put + recycling container)
DEVELOPMENT 8. Pupils work in pairs to use the prompts on the board to retell the process.
9. Pupils form new groups of 4, with each group containing 2 pupils from the paper group and 2 from the glass
group.
10. Pupils swap pictures and give each other 1 minute to think about the new pictures.
11. Pupils tell each other about their own process and state at least 3 steps, using the prompts they practice
earlier.
