The class will be grouped into two groups. Each group will form a line behind their
designated box. One by one, members of each group will step forward to draw a
question and answer it. If the answer is correct, the student will get a flag, but if it is
wrong, he or she will fall in line again. The first group to collect all seven flags and
properly place them in their designated spots wins the special badge and will be
declared the winner.

K-12 Curriculum
The K-12 aims to add 2 years to secondary education so that our graduates may be
recognized globally. At 5 years old, it is mandatory for children to attend kindergarten
before moving on to six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School and
two years of Senior High School. This system will be beneficial to our country as students
of the new system will graduate at the age of 18 and will be ready for employment,
entrepreneurship, middle level skills, and higher education upon graduation depending on
which strand they choose.
What is Basic Education?
The whole range of educational activities that are taking place in either formal or non-formal
settings with the goal of meeting the learners’ basic learning needs.
The Present Basic Education Scenario in the Philippines
Enactment of Kindergarten Education Act of 2012 and the Republic Act 10533 - having
Kindergarten as part of the basic education curricula and having it mandatory.
Enhanced Basic Education/K to 12 - objective of producing more productive and
responsible citizens fully equipped with the essential competencies, skills for both lifelong
learning and employment.
Model: In Philippine Educational Context
Kinder 6 years elem. 4 yrs. Junior HS 2 yrs. Senior HS
4-6 yrs. 17-19 yrs.
Reasons:
1. The additional two years hope to address the deteriorating quality of the Philippine
education system.
2. The unpreparedness for employment, entrepreneurship or higher education of the Filipino
High School graduates because of the congested ten-year curriculum.
3. The additional two years make the Philippine education system comparable and recognized
in meeting international standards.
