Question 1: Define simulation. What are the major steps in the simulation process?
Answer : Simulation is an imitative representation of a process or system that could exist in
the real world. It is a model of a set of problems or events that can be used to teach someone
how to do something, or the process of making such a model. It is often used interchangeably
with a model. Simulations require the use of models; the model represents the key
characteristics or behaviours of the selected system or process, whereas the simulation
represents the evolution of the model over time.
the major steps in the simulation process:

1. Define the Problem: Identify the problem or system you intend to simulate.
2. Formulate the Model: Develop the model you intend to use
3. Test the Model: Compare the model’s behavior with the behavior of the actual
problem.
4. Collect Data: Identify and collect the data needed to test the model.
5. Run the Simulation: Execute the simulation
6. Analyze Results: Analyze the results of the simulation and, if desired, change the
solution you are evaluating.
7. Rerun the Simulation: Test the new solution by rerunning the simulation.
8. Validate the Simulation: Increase the chances of the inferences you may draw about
the real situation.
Question 2: Why is computer necessary in conducting a real world simulation?
Answer: Computers are essential in conducting real-world simulations for several reasons:
1. Complex Calculations: Simulations often involve complex mathematical models and
calculations. Computers can perform these calculations quickly and accurately.
2. Large Data Handling: Simulations can involve large amounts of data. Computers
have the capacity to store and process this data efficiently.
3. Time Efficiency: Computers can execute simulations much faster than manual
calculations, allowing for more iterations and more detailed models.
4. Reproducibility: Simulations run on computers can be easily repeated under the
same conditions, which is important for verifying results.
5. Visualization: Computers can generate visual representations of simulations, making
the results easier to understand and interpret.
6. Flexibility: With computers, it’s easy to modify the parameters of a simulation to
explore different scenarios.

In essence, computers provide the speed, accuracy, and capacity necessary for modern
simulations. They allow us to model complex systems and processes that would be
impractical or impossible to study through direct observation or experiment. This makes them
an invaluable tool in fields ranging from physics and engineering to economics and social
sciences.
