110 to 119 Above Average
90 to 109 Average
80 to 89 Below Average
70 to 79 Borderline

Quantitative Interpretation
Scale Score Percentile Rank Qualitative Range
Verbal Comprehension 152 99 Very Superior
(VCI)
Perceptual Reasoning 94 34 Average
(PRI)
Working Memory 129 97 Superior
(WM)
Processing Speed 150 99 Very Superior
(PS)
Full Scale (FSIQ) 138 99 Very Superior
Looking at the WISC-IV scores- a FSIQ of 138 is observed which is in Very Superior range
according to Standard Score Ranges. A’s Verbal Comprehension score is 152 which falls again in
Very Superior range, and she did better than 99 out 100 children her age. Her Perceptual
reasoning score is 94, which falls in the Average range and she did better than 34 out of 100
children her age. Her Working Memory score is 129 which are observed in Superior range, which
shows she did better than 97 out of 100 children her age. 150 score is seen in Processing Speed
which falls in Very superior range and she did better than 99 out of 100 children her age.
Qualitative Interpretation
A’s skills in understanding verbal information, thinking with words and expressing thoughts in
words are in Very Superior range. Her skills in solving verbal problems, development of concepts
and answering verbally to complex questions are exceptionally developed than average children.
Her ability to acquire, retain and retrieve information is far more superior to general children
population.
Her Perceptual reasoning score is 94 which fall in average category. In general, her skills in
solving non-verbal problems quickly and efficiently with visual information are typically
common with general population of children.
A’s skills of learning and retaining information in memory while utilizing the learned
information to complete a task comes under the superior range. Her skills to retain attention and
hold verbal information in memory while she manipulates it is superior to others.
Her scores on Processing Speed index were 150 which fall in Very Superior range. This means
her ability to quickly scan symbols and make judgments about them are far more exceptional than
an average child. Her skills in speed of mental problem-solving, attention, and eye-hand
coordination are very superior to average population children.
A’s FSIQ score is 138 which shows that her general thinking and reasoning skills are in very
superior range. This falls her into a category with very few population.
Conclusion:
A’s over all cognitive abilities are extremely high. Except her skills in perceptual reasoning is
average, because of this contradiction further assessment is needed. Standford-Binet Intelligence
test can be administered to steer clear this contradiction. This might help us to know that whether
she is intellectually superior or masking any developmental or intellectual disability.
Suggestions:
She would benefit from an educational match which may not be provided in regular schools. A
placement in a gifted education program would be a good match. A program for gifted children
would cater for her needs and bring her to greater heights by developing her potential fully.
