Semi – Detailed Lesson Plan in Grade 5

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:
a. Visualize and describe the different solid figures
b. Identify the faces, vertex and edges of a solid figure; cube, prism, pyramid , cylinder
and cone.
c. Draw different solid figures resembling real-life object.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Solid Figures
References: 21st Century Mathletes, p. 236
Materials: visual aids, colored paper, realia

III. PROCEDURES
A. Review
Let the pupils recall their previous topic.
Ask them to give examples.

B. Motivation
The teacher will show a DIY Math project of polygons.
The teacher will ask the pupils how many sides that shape has.

C. Presentation
The teacher will show the pupils a big box with different shapes, let
them pick one, and tell the class what kind of solid figure it is.

D. Discussion
The teacher will define the following terms; faces, vertex and edges of
different solid figures.

E. Generalization
The teacher will show the pupils a realia and ask where the faces,
vertex, and edge of the figure are located.
The teacher will asks the meaning of the terms; faces, vertex and edges.

F. Application
The pupils will be group into 4 to answer a different questions on the
board, each group will choose 1 player for each question.

IV. EVALUATION
Activity 1. Direction: Label the parts of a solid figure.

vertices of the given figure below.
