DIFFERENT KINDS OF CLAMPING TOOLS
Spring Clamp
Spring clamps are one of the fastest and most affordable mechanical devices. They come
in all different sizes and can clamp together woodworking projects or hold onto wire for
beading and jewelry projects.
Sash Clamp
This clamp is used when working on large projects such as table tops, doors, cabinets, or
sash windows. Generally, more than one has to be used at a time to ensure that there is a
firm grip on the project.
Power Clamp or Pneumatic Clamp
Pneumatic power clamps are mechanical devices that use compressed air in order to
apply a clamping load. These are the clamps used for the production runs and the
machinery.
Pinch Dog Clamp
This is a smaller clamp that is shaped similarly to a stable and is used to straddle joints.
They work by pulling the joint together and holding it in position while it is drying after
being glued.
Step Clamps
Step clamps are used together with step blocks when you are working with metal and
milling or machining parts.
Bench Clamps
Bench clamps are those which are used to screw down onto the work tables. They can be
used to make furniture or perform carpentry and welding.
Web Clamps or Strap Clamps
Web clamps are one of the best clamps which are suitable for awkward shapes. They
have nylon bands that will gently yet securely wrap around the object you’re working on
and tighten using a ratchet.
Pipe Clamps
Pipe Clamps are mechanical devices that are used for hanging or securing pipes. The
pipe clamps are commonly used in piping and plumbing applications for the purpose of
hanging various different types of pipes.
Wire Rope Clamps
These clamps are also known as clips and are used to help to fix a loose end of a wire
rope loop to the rope itself. It has two nuts, a saddle, and a u-shaped bolt that work
together.
Toggle Clamp
These clamps have a handle that is used to control the clamp, a bar that will hold on to
the piece you’re working on, and levers and pins that will increase the force. They hold
objects tightly and ensure that they can’t move or separate when you apply inward
pressure.
Miter Clamps
These clamps will hold two pieces that have mitered ends together at a right angle. The
miter clamp are referred to as those which is ideal for connecting corners together for
the assemblies.
Quick Action Clamps
These clamps can easily be operated by just one hand, making them powerful and
strong but easy to use without a lot of hassle. These clamps are used to tighten, using
one hand by pumping the push handle.
Trigger Clamps
These clamps use a trigger to adjust the head, and the jaws of the clamp and can easily
be operated using just one hand. They are very strong and incredibly versatile.
G or C Clamps
It is used to either clamp two pieces of a project together or to hold a workpiece to the
table. These are incredibly versatile and very widely used.
Locking Chain Clamp
The locking chain clamp are the mechanical devices which are used for applying a clamp
load in tight spaces or around a pipe or near any other surface.
Drill Press Clamps
These clamps are designed specifically to hold materials and boards to the drill press
table, which allows users to make a very accurate and clean cut each time they use their
machinery.
Clip Hangers
These are small, common clamps that are used on hangers to allow the person to clip his
or her clothes to the hanger instead of draping or folding them over the rod.
Picture Frame Clamps
The picture frame clamps are the mechanical devices which are ideal for clamping
together the rectangular assemblies like the picture frames, table supports, window
frames etc.
Flooring Clamps
These clamps are fairly single-purpose and are used when a carpenter is installing a floor.
They help to hold tongue and groove boards in place so that they can be nailed down
securely and won’t move during this time.
Speed Clamps
This is a long metal bar that has a number of serrations on it that will hold the adjustable
head in place when it has been moved tightly against the project or item.
Horse Clamps
Hose clamps are referred to as those mechanical devices which are used to seal a hose
onto a fitting. These types of clamps are popular for irrigation or automobile hoses.
Hand Screw Clamps
These clamps are also sometimes called “toolmaker’s clamps” and are generally used
when working on metalwork. The wood hand screw clamps are one of the most
traditional woodworking clamps which have the jaws pivot that allows the clamp at
varying angles.
Kant-Twist Clamps
These clamps are multipurpose and combine the benefits of both parallel and C clamps.
It delivers load by the help of using two parallel jaws and by preventing the jaws from
walking.
Pennington Clamps
This clamp is also called a Duval clamp and has a triangular eyelet. It’s great for grasping
and holding onto tissue during surgery.
Cardellini Clamp
Cardellini clamps have jaws that are used to clamp onto the tubing. They can be used to
clamp flat options, grip equipment, or even mount lights for a theater.
Ear Clamps
Ear clamps are a fairly simple device for connecting a hose to a pipe or a fitting like a
hose barb connection. The clamp is a metal band with a protruding “ear,” the sides of
which are forced together to tighten the ring around a hose.
Parallel Clamp
Also similar to the f-clamp, the parallel clamps allow for large opening capacities. Ideal
for woodworking, the clamp jaws remain parallel under increased loads to give a large
distribution area and prevent leaving dimples in the wood.
Cable Clamps
Cable clamps are cable routing clips or mechanical devices that help define the routing
of cable and wire installations. These cable fasteners are designed to ensure retention
and support to cables whilst restricting movement and will be found in almost every
electrical installation.
Material Handling Clamp
Material handling clamps are referred to as those clamping tools which are used to hold
heavy material which are usually lifted or manipulated.
Mechanical Clamp
Mechanical clamps are the devices which are used to hold hoses or tubes in place on the
ends of the pipe spuds. These devices are also named as hose clamps which are also
used wherever a flexible fluid connection needs to be made.
Ground Clamp
Ground Clamps are referred to as mechanical devices which are used for working for
grounding wires, rods, pipes, antennas etc. other than these it is also used for some of
the specific tasks like welding and refueling of an aircraft.
F-Clamp
The f-clamp are the types of mechanical devices which are designed for a wide opening
capacity.
Sheet Metal Clamps
Sheet metal clamps are the clamps which are quite similar to locking clamps.
Edge Clamps
The edge clamp are referred to as those which can control its position in two axes using
the three separate screws.
Cabinetry Clamps
The cabinetry clamp are referred to as those aligns which have two adjacent cabinets so
that the face frames are flushed in order to allow you to screw them together which are
achieved by applying the clamp load in two axes.
Table Clamps
The table clamp is most commonly used with an accompanying welding table which is
used for welding assemblies, allowing single handed clamping with speed.
Beam Clamps
Beam clamps are the mechanical devices which are used for lifting the steel beams and
plates. The main purpose for which it is popular is lifting.
Scissor Clamps
The scissor clamps are the devices which are quite similar to the lifting clamp. The clamp
provides rough clamping jaws which helps in better digging into the part in which it is
lifting and improves the grip.
Hydraulic Clamps
Hydraulic clamps are known to be quite similar to pneumatic clamps, other than its use
for hydraulic power or pressurized liquid in order to apply a clamping load.
Dimide Clamps
4The Dimide Clamp is a mechanical device which is a heavy-duty metalworking & welding
clamp and is a specialized device used for combining the speed and power through the
impact of a wrench. These are the devices which are designed for the high torque loads
and is applied by an impact wrench.
DIFFERENT KINDS OF PLUGS
Type A
Type A electrical plugs are ungrounded plugs that consist of two flat parallel prongs.
Type B
Type B electrical plugs, also known as the North American 3-pin plug, are grounded plugs. They consist of
two flat parallel prongs and a round pin for grounding.
Type C
Type C is the most internationally used electrical plug. It is an ungrounded and unpolarized plug and
consists of two round pins.
Type D
Type D electrical plugs consist of three round pins that form a triangular arrangement.
Type E
Type E electrical plugs consist of two round pins, measuring 19 mm long, 4.8 mm in diameter, and 19 mm
apart.
Type F
Type F electrical plugs have almost the exact pin dimensions as Type E plugs, except the pins are not
perfectly rounded. Type F plugs have two earthing clips instead of female earthing contact.
Type G
Type G electrical plugs consist of three rectangular pins that form a triangular arrangement and an
incorporated fuse.
Type H
Type H electrical plugs consist of three round pins arranged in a triangular configuration, with a diameter
of 4.5 mm and a length of 19 mm.
