EXPERIMENT 1: Analysis of Basic and Universal Logic gates (NAND and NOR)

Aim: - To study and analyze the basic logic gates (AND, OR, and NOT(Inverter), Exclusive-OR) and
universal logic gates (NAND and NOR).
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this lesson, you are expected to:
1. Draw the equivalent electronic circuits of various of various digital logic gates.
2. Determine the output of the different logic gates given two inputs.
3. Write a truth table that represents the logic gate.
Theory: - The voltage in a digital circuit is allowed to be in only one of two sates HIGH and LOW.
HIGH is taken to mean logical (1) or logical TRUE.
LOW is taken to mean logical (0) or logical FALSE.

1. Construct a 2 – input OR gate in Multisim Simulation Software and test the output with Oscilloscope.
(Output 1 Using Osciloscope)

(Output 0 Using Osciloscope)

2. Construct a 2 – input OR gate in Multisim Simulation Software and test the output Using
LEDs or Indicators.

(Output 1 Using LED and Indicator)

Observation: verify the truth table (Input variables as input form)

Input Output

A B X

Apparatus:
(1) Fixed 5V DC power supply, Ground
(2) Choose two input OR Gate
(3) Choose the oscilloscope with two channels
(4) Choose the Indicator or LED
(5) Connecting wire

Conclusions:- This practical practice helps us to understand:

 Concept of digital input and output become clear.

 Functioning of various digital IC.

Precautions:-

1. Check the connections before switching on the kit.

2. Connections should be done properly.

3. Do not connect more than +5 volt Vcc in TTL IC.
