Detailed Lesson Plan
In
TVE Garments 10
I. OBJECTIVE
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. identify the measurements and tools needed in drafting a pattern for pants.
2. apply the procedures in drafting a pattern for pants.
3. draft a pattern for pants.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
TOPIC: Drafting a Pattern for Pants.
REFERENCES: Competency-Based Learning Material (Garments NCII)
Fourth year pp. 39-44.
MATERIALS NEEDED: Tools, pattern paper (manila Paper), Chalkboard.
TIME ALLOTMENT: 2 hours.
III. PROCEDURES
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
A. PREPARATION
Good morning class!
- Good morning ma’am!
Is there somebody who is
absent?
- None ma’am.
Very good!
B. REVIEW
Last meeting, we discuss about
on how to finish the bottom
hem. Right?
- Yes ma’am.
What is the first step again
class?
- Ma’am ( the students raised
their hand)
Yes?
- Fold the edges ¼’’ and stitch
1/8 ’’ away from the fold.
Very good. What about the
second step?
- Ma’am (the students raised
their hand)
Yes?
- Fold along the mark for seam
allowance and baste.
And what about the last step?
- Ma’am (the students raised
their hand)
Yes?
- Hem the button fold with
catch stitch or blind stitch and
it can be machine sew.
Very good!
C. MOTIVATION
I will show you a pictures.
(pictures of different style of
pants)
What can you say or observe on
these pictures class?
- Different styles of pants
ma’am.
Very good!
So as you can see we have
different styles of pants. One
styles of is a ladies trousers.
Did you ever tried to ask
yourself how ladies pants or
ladies trousers are made?
- Yes ma’am.
Do you want to make a pants or
a ladies trousers class?
- Yes of course ma’am.
D. DISCUSSION/
PRESENTATION
So today we are going to discuss
about on how to draft a pants or
a ladies trousers. But first we are
going to know the parts of the
body to be measured.
Who can state one?
- Ma’am (the students raised
their hand)
Yes?
- Waist ma’am.
Very good! What else?
- Ma’am (the students raised
their hand)
Yes?
- Hips ma’am
Very good. Another?
- Crotch ma’am.
Very good. Another?
- Pants length ma’am
Another?
- Knee circumference ma’am.
Very good. What else?
- Bottom circumference ma’am.
Excellent! So we have waist,
hips, crotch, pants length, knee
circumference, and bottom
circumference.
What about the tools needed in
drafting. Who can state all?
- Ma’am (the students raised
their hand)
Yes?
- L-square, hip curve, French
curve, pencil and tape
So, we have L-square, hip curve, measure.
pencil, French curve, and tape
measure. Very good.
So here are the procedure on
how to draft a ladies pants or
ladies trousers.
Who can read the first step?
- Ma’am (the students raised

perpendicular line. Extend
point A sideward.
Draw perpendicular line and
extend A as your starting point.

- DI is equal to ¼ of knee
To get ¼ of knee circumference circumference measurement
you are going to divide knee plus ½’’ sideward. Connect

This is how you are going to
draft a pants or a ladies trousers.
Always remember that the letter
is not important in drafting, it is
the line and the measurement are
the most important.
Did you understand class?
Any clarification?
- Yes ma’am.
Ok. Very good.
- None ma’am.
