FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
General Objectives
Education in the Department of Accountancy aims to provide competent
and ethical accountants capable of making positive contribution over their lifetimes
to the profession and society in which they work. In the face of increasing changes
that they will meet as future professional accountants, it is essential that students
develop and maintain an attitude of willing to learn and maintain their competence
later as certified public accountants.
The Accountancy program also aims to provide a foundation of professional
knowledge, professional skills, professional values, ethics, and attitudes that
enable them to continue to learn and adapt to change throughout their professional
lives. These capabilities will enable professionals’ accountants to identify
problems, know where to find this knowledge, and know how to apply it in an ethical
manner to achieve appropriate solutions.
Specific Objectives
At the end of the four-year course in Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, a
student should able to:
• Resolve business issues and problems, with global and strategic
perspective using knowledge and technical proficiency in the areas of
financial accounting and reporting, cost accounting and management
accounting and control, taxation, and accounting information systems.
• Conduct accountancy research through independent studies of relevant
literature and appropriate use of accounting theory and methodologies
• Employ technology as a business tool in capturing financial and non-
financial information, generating reports and making decisions
• Apply knowledge and skills to successfully respond to various types of
assessments (including professional licensure and certifications)
• Confidently maintain a commitment to a good corporate citizenships, social
responsibility and ethical practice in performing functions as an accountant.

Scholarships provide an opportunity for the faculty of the department to earn
an education. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend trainings, seminars and
apply for scholarship for their professional vertical enhancement. Applications are

Composition
The academic staff of the department shall be composed of the teaching
and nonteaching personnel performing academic-related work.
Faculty Orientation
Attendance to the Faculty Orientation Program conducted by the Human
Resource Development Office (HRMO) is required for the newly-hired faculty
members. They will be oriented on the institutional vision and mission, CSC and
administration policies on faculty duties and responsibilities, promotion and other
privileges.

Faculty Development
SKSU Accountancy Department faculty member are facing a
growing array of changing roles and responsibilities that require them to
engage in professional growth. Because of the need for a well-trained
faculty to insure improvement of the program and produce quality
graduates, the University allocates budget providing professional
development opportunities. This will help enrich and advance the faculty’s
contribution to the institution.
