Activity 2: 15 Minute Step Test

This activity will determine how many meters or feet you can ascend in 15
minutes.

IMPORTANT!
Your safety is important so always consider your own fitness and
circumstances before you commence physical activity and wear your shoes
for foot protection.

9
Materials and Variables:
1. Step Height (30 – 50 cm. or 11 – 20 inches)

Note:
Make a video of yourself while executing the 15 Minute Step test.
(You can execute the 15 Minute step test in your most convenient
time)

INSTRUCTIONS.
1. Set up your timer for 15 minutes and ensure the height of the
step/box and the weight of your backpack.

2. Step up and down on the step/box and each time you step up, that is
the completed repetition.
3. Next, you will count the number of completed repetition for 15
minutes.
4. Then, Record the number of completed step ups.
5. Lastly, retest your heart rate immediately after completing the test.
TIPS:
- If you need to rest you may take a short rests every 100 steps,
- shake out your feet,
- hydrate by drinking and get back to it, same
applies in the mountain.

EVALUATING RESULT: 15 Minute Step Test

You can write the result in a piece of paper. Follow the formula.

ASCENDED METERS / FEET = Step or box Height X number of step ups.

e.g. step/box height is 30cm and you completed 300 step ups.
0.30 X 300 = 90m
