ee ‘PRACTITIONERS’ QUALIFYING EXAMINATION (LPQE) COURSE - 2023 REPEATERS EXAMINATIONS10.
Your examination number is given to identify your answer booklets. You must write your
examination number clearly in the space provided on the cover of every answer booklet you
may use at the examination. Your name or any other identifying mark should NOT be written
on the answer scripts.
The official results of the examination will be posted on the Institute's website, e-learning
platform, High Court for Zambia Notice Board, Law Association of Zambia Notice and the
Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education Notice Boards and will also be published in
the Government Gazette. This is limited to Final and Repeaters Examinations only.
There will be a separate question paper for each subject. Candidates will be provided with
booklet/s containing paper on which to answer the questions,
Sealed examination papers are to be opened in the presence of the candidates.
No handbags or briefcases shall be kept near the candidates’ tables in the examination hall.
Candidates wishing to make notes shall do so only on paper supplied by the invigilator. Such
paper shall have the Institute's watermark and will not leave the examination room.
Examiners shall specify which statutes or forms may be taken to the examination room and
such statutes or forms must not be marked in any way except for the indication of statutory
amendments,
As soon as possible after the commencement of the examination invigilators will check all
documents on each candidate's table to ensure that only permissible documents are present.
lf any candidate is found in possession of any paper or documents suspected to be capable
of being used for the purpose of cheating such paper or document shall be confiscated from
the candidate who shall sign his or her name on the paper or document in the presence of
two invigilators who in turn shall also sign on the same paper and indicate the date and time.

The paper or document shall be handed to the Council Secretary or the Director as soon as
possible together with a report of the incident. Further, the candidate shall be disqualified
and excluded.
if for any reason the invigilator considers that giving candidates further time for completing
writing of any examination paper would compensate for any interruption, the invigilator may
announce that such further time will be allowed to all the candidates,
Invigilators are requested to carry out their duties in a manner that will cause the least
possible disturbance to/or interfere with the candidates,
‘At the end of the time allotted for each subject the candidate shall hand over the answer
booklet(s) to the invigilator. If a candidate contiriues to write at the end of the time allotted
for the examination that candidate's examination shall be disqualified.
In subjects 1,2,8 and 9, candidates will have a choice of five questions of which three must
be answered. In subjects 3,4,5,6,7,10 and 11 candidates will have a choice of 8 questions and
5 must be answered,
Note that, following ZIALE Council's Resolution on Friday, 24 December, 2022, there will be
nto TRUE OR FALSE questions and multiple-choice questions in the Legal Practitioners
Qualifying Examinations.
‘An Examiner may, if he/she wishes, make one question compulsory i, out of the total
number of questions a candidate may be required to answer one particular question and
choose the balance from the remaining questions,
IF there is a compulsory question an examiner may provide that more than the ordinary marks
given to other questions will be allocated to that question. If so it will be stated at the head
of the paper exactly what proportion of the marks in that subject will be allocated to the
compulsory question.

students may take them into the Examination hall for the Bookkeeping and Accounts,
Conveyancing and Legal Drafting and Probate and Succession examinations.
20, Students are not permitted to take Halsbury's Statutes into the examination hall. Students
are only allowed to take with them into the examination hall their own statutes annoted with
amendments and cross references. All other forms and documents will be supplied by the
invigitator.
21. Candidates should answer only the required number of questions in each paper and no more.
The order in which the questions have been answered should be indicated in the space
provided on the cover of the answer booklet. Any extra answer attempted should be
invalidated on the answer paper, e.g. by drawing a line across. If a candidate fails to do so
the examiner will mark only the required number of questions in the order which they are
answered or appear to have been answered, Further, candidates are prohibited from ripping
papers out of the examination answer booklet for whatever reason and where mistakes are
made students should draw a clea
le of cross across tl and move on to a fresh
and clean page. Where a student has exhausted the answer booklet, a new answer booklet
should be requested from the Invigilator(s).
22. KINDLY NOTE THAT ONLY ORIGINAL GOVERNMENT PRINTER STATUTES AND VERIFIED
AND STAMPED STATUTES WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE EXAMINATION HALL.
COMPUTER GENERATED AND SCANNED DOCUMENTS WILL NOT
BE ALLOWED AND ARE SUBJECT TO CONFISCATION.
23. NO CELL PHONES, SMART WATCHES, SCIENTIFIC CALCULATORS
OR CALCULATORS THAT HAS THE FACILITY TO DISPLAY TEXT
WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE EXAMINATION HALL. WHERE A
CANDIDATE 1S FOUND WITH ANY OF THESE ITEMS, THAT
