To whom it may concern,
This letter is to introduce myself and elaborate upon my qualifications and qualities that make me
a good candidate for a teaching position at your school. I am currently applying for any elementary
teaching opportunities that arise with a preference for positions in upper elementary. I have received my
bachelors’ degree and masters’ degree in elementary education from the University of Virginia along with
my Virginia teaching license for PreK-6 and my Michigan teaching license for K-8. I have experience at all
levels of my licensure.
Since I was in elementary school, it has been my dream to be a teacher and dedicate myself to
giving all my students a strong foundation of knowledge and an enjoyable start to school. The early years
of a child’s life are so impactful, and I’ve always wanted to be a part of that integral time. Students need
support academically, emotionally, and socially as they are growing, and I make it a priority to support my
students in all areas of growth.
My experience in the classroom has exposed me to many things that are essential in today’s
schools. I have extensive experience lesson planning for a variety of subjects and grade levels, as well as
curriculum pacing throughout the year to ensure all standards are met. My lesson plans integrate
technology, play-based learning, and differentiation for academic and behavioral needs. I have studied
and implemented many aspects of Responsive Classroom, including community building, collaborative
rulemaking, and morning meetings. It’s very important to me that students are aware of behavioral and
academic expectations throughout the day, so I make it a priority to display my expectations visually and
review them regularly with students.
I have experience working in a variety of settings. I have taught SPED inclusion classrooms,
advanced academic classrooms, and classrooms with 100% ESOL students. I have served as the only
teacher in my grade level and on grade level teams as large as eight. During my time as a teacher, I have
applied and adjusted my learning and teaching ideas to best serve my students' needs and meet the
expectations and needs of my school community.
In addition to my experiences, I believe that my personal qualities make me an exceptional
candidate. I am equally comfortable being a leader and working collaboratively in group settings. I am
very patient, which has served me well in my classroom management. I am dedicated to keeping parents
informed and involved. I believe a strong relationship with students, parents, and the community is
essential to my classroom.
Thank you for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Claire Lambert
