Rationale:
Healthy women are the foundation of a strong community while healthy newborns are
the future. Each year however, women are still suffering from preventable complications of
pregnancy such as preeclampsia, eclampsia gestational diabetes and the likes. Though intensified
health education is being implemented, there are still women who are affected.
The Municipal Health Office together with the nurses deployed in the municipality by
the Department of Health therefore propose a one day Buntis Congress activity to provide
awareness and education to pregnant women and help promote better health practices. The major
goal of the activity is to encourage healthy pregnancy thereby maintaining zero maternal death
and child mortality. The said activity will encourage pregnant women to avail of the health
services and help them have a healthy pregnancy, safe delivery and healthy baby.
The participants of the said event are expected to gain knowledge on the scaling up of
nutrition for the first 1000 days of life, safe motherhood, benefits of exclusive breastfeeding,
proper complimentary feeding techniques, child immunization, importance of facility based
delivery and family planning. The following services will be availed: information on DOH
programs, physical examination, BP taking, blood typing, prenatal consultations, dental checkup,
family planning counseling, and distribution of buntis kits.
Through the realization of this activity, it is expected that maternal and child related
health concerns will be addressed and a healthier and more productive pregnancy and delivery
will be attained.
Objectives:
• To promote safe and healthy pregnancy among women.
• To equip expectant mothers with knowledge on the importance of exclusive
breastfeeding.
• To intensify maternal, newborn and child health and nutrition program of the
municipality.
• To educate women on the early warning signs of a high risk pregnancy.
• To provide awareness on the importance of giving birth in an accredited health facilities.
• To maintain zero maternal and child mortality.
Methodology:
Lectures,Buntis congress contest and open forum on Maternal and Child Health and
Nutrition. During the congress, pregnant women can avail free laboratory examination,dental
check ups,blodd pressure taking and random blood sugar testing.
Budgetary Requirements:
Meals
• 100 Participants @ 250 per meal(Lunch) - 100 x 250 = ₱ 25,000
• 30 pax Lunch for Staff @ 250 per meal (Lunch) - 30 x 250 = ₱ 7,500

• 100 Participants @ 810 per Buntis Kit - 100 x 450 = ₱ 81,000
Prizes for Contestants
• Miss Beautiful Buntis 2023 = ₱ 6,000
• First Runner Up = ₱ 4,000
• Second Runner Up = ₱ 3,000
• Consolation Prize (1000 @ 7 pax) = ₱ 7,000
