QUESTION 1

Determine the deflection of 406 x 178 UB 54 steel beam which is simply supported at the
end of its 5.5m length. The beam is subjected to a maximum bending moment of 120 kNm if
the modulus of elasticity of the material is 205000 N/mm2.
