IV. PROCEDURE
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting new lesson:
 The early half of the 20th century also gave rise to new musical style, which were not quite as extreme
as the electronic, chance, and minimalist styles that arose later.
 These new styles were impressionism, expressionism, avant garde music, and modern nationalism.
 Music scholars predict that the innovative and experimental developments of 20th century classical
music will continue to influence the music of the 21st century.

B. Establishing purpose of the lesson:


- Music has always been an important part of the daily life of the African people, whether for work,
religion, ceremonies, or even communications. Singing, dancing, hand clapping and the beating of
drums are essential to many African ceremonies, including those for birth, death, initiation, marriage,
and funerals.
- Music and dance are also important to religious expression and political events.
- Because of the wide influence of African music ob global music- having permeated contemporary
American, Latin American, and European styles- there has been a growing interest in its own cultural
heritage and musical sources.
- Its many sources of influence have produced such varied styles and genres as the following
a. Afroboeat- is a term used to describe the fusion of West African with black American music
b. Apala- is musical genre from Nigeria in the Yoruba tribal style
c. Axe- is a popular musical genre from Salvador and brazil
d. Jit- is a hard and fast percussive Zimbabwean dance music played on drums
e. Jive- is a popular form of South African music featuring a lively and uninhibited variations.
f. Juju- a popular music style from Nigeria that relies mostly on tradition.
