8:00 - 10:00 am.
Physical Science
3rd Quarter

I. Objectives:

At the end of the period, the learners are expected to:

1. Point out the main ideas in the discovery of the structure of the atom and its
subatomic particles.
S11/12PS-IIIb-8
1.1 Compute the mass number, atomic mass, number of protons, electrons,
and neutrons in an atom of an element. Indicator 7

KBI: Exhibit patience when searching for solutions

to problem.
II. Subject Matter:
A. Topic: Atomic Number and Atomic Mass
B. References: CG, Physical Science Book
C. IMs: PowerPoint presentation, pen and paper

III. Procedure:
1. Preparatory Activities
1.1 Perform 5S
1.2 Prayer
1.3 Greetings
1.4 Checking of attendance

2. Lesson Proper
2.1 Activity (Fill me, In.)
The class is divided into three groups. Each group are tasks to analyzed the given slides.
Indicator 4 Next determine the charge of each atom given. The activity will finished within 10
minutes. Indicator 2

2.2 Analysis
Guided questions:
 What have you learned from the activity?
 Explain that the difference in the number of protons and electrons
determine the charge of an atom. Indicator 3
 Based from the group activity, the teacher will present and discuss the
lesson using powerpoint presentation. Indicator 1 and 8
2.3 Abstraction
: One representative of each group will report in front of the class to sum up the discussion of
what they have learned The activity will finish within 10 minutes.Indicator 6
: The three groups will gain additional point based on their performance. Indicator 5

2.4 Application
Drill:
The learners are given samples to compute the atomic number and mass number
then identify what element. Indicator 7

IV. Evaluation:Indicator 9

Direction: Complete the table by computing the unknown Element, Mass Number, Atomic Number,
# of Protons, # of Electrons and # of Neutrons using the previously given formulas.

Symbol Z A # of n0 # of p+ # of e-
--------- 55 133 -------- --------- 55
